What about the oath of Do no harm? Your posts have been a lifeline as I was able to understand what was going on with my body as I used the information you provided to do a slow taper. However, I've been on these for so long and at such a high dose, I was already experiencing painful side effects, nasty falls...thanks to you dear sir, I have cut my dose in half and am in the midst of pushing to the next level of getting off this poison. @@StefanoCap13 Appreciate it, but after everything I've learned about western medicine and been through I'm done with it. I don't even take Tylenol anymore. I've tried a couple of natural remedies that helped for a bit. A little bit, but that's still something. So I'm growing my own stuff now and soon hope to harvest it and try again. One is passion flower and the other is the bark from a Mimosa tree. I think nutrition also plays a key role in feeling better/healing. I lost my business, so unfortunately just eating properly hasn't been easy. It's difficult just being in public, I abhor going to the market. So healing etc may be taking longer. I really don't know and just guessing, if anything will help at all. Having gone through all this, the best advice I can give to others is have as best a Dr as you possibly can to help with getting off. I didn't come across any of this information when I had chosen to do this, wish I had. But, anyway, have a good Dr that knows the possible outcomes and help mitigate damage to your life. I can't stress that enough. I had a good life before and loved what I did, my family and friends... Just be careful, it really sucks, you truly can feel like your soul is gone, love, happiness. @@risingson7773 I’ve been through benzo withdrawal, it was so so so awful. I took 3mg Lorazepam daily for a year, and then 1.5mg Clonazepam daily for 2 years, also while on Prozac and Wellbutrin. Went off all meds simultaneously. My protracted withdrawal symptoms were so severe, I got back on Prozac when I read it may have a direct action on the GABA A receptor as a weak agonist or positive alloistic modulator, and an indirect action through increasing Allopregnone concentrations in the brain, which is a GABA A positive modulator neurosteroid. It eventually gave some relief, but it was still really difficult. I eventually got onto Adderall for ADHD and social anxiety. Seems to work really well with the Prozac. Works better than the daily benzo with Prozac, which I originally took for social anxiety and depression. It gets better, eventually. I’d also recommend Magnesium Glycinate.

@DelKidd weirdly enough this effect is much more stressed in French medical literature (I've just checked) than in the english one. I found that on this subject : "Furthermore, benzodiazepines can cause relaxation of striated muscle because of their effects on gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptors in the central nervous system". I remember talking about it with other French women hooked on benzos by doctors and we all had it... in english literature them seem to talk more about urinary retention, that causes overflow incontinence (other form of incontinence) because the bladder is never empty. This effect did vanish when I finally managed to stop this drug. By the way MANY medications can cause urinary incontinence, check iatrogenic side effects of all the drugs you take before going under the knive..

Most of my worst symptoms erupted tardive 4-18 mths after stopping klonopin. Tardive akathisia, tardive dystonia. I never even felt the need to raise my dosage. Most of my worst neurological injury happened during my taper and after my jump. I had become a pain patient because of some of this harm. I’d come off methadone (for pain) as well as the other opiates and thought that I knew about difficult “withdrawals”. I’d even started & stopped a benzodiazepine a half dozen times never realizing each time I stopped, the damage was more significant and lasted longer. If I could do it over, I’d of never touched a benzodiazepine. I would have also used much more caution treating pain. Don’t fear “seizure” or “death” (death can be merciful). Fear benzodiazepine induced neurological dysfunction and things like chronic akathisia and things you have to try and live with. I’ve come off every opiate, multiple times in akathisia, and it was nothing compared to klonopin. Methadone is the closest drug to rival a benzodiazepine when stopping.
@kevk7412 ай бұрын
Note: No one should ever have to choose between an opiate and a benzodiazepine. My experience is respiratory depression is NOT an issue unless you are opiate naive. I took klonopin together with methadone for years w/o issue on multiple occasions. I even took it with oxycodone break through pain meds & methadone together. Ripping someone off a benzodiazepine is heads and shoulders a worse idea than letting them continue to take both.

Is there any hypothesis out there for the protracted withdrawal lasting years to potentially connect to b12 issues? I came off antidepressants twice and it was a horror show. I watched a friends wife die in her 30s on Xanax and another friend struggle severely on Xanax. For me it took many years to realize that all the downturns I took coming off the meds that wouldn’t go away were because I couldn’t re-absorb enough b12 and the enterohepatic circulation was impeded by using b12 in toxin binding (in my case environmental mold but I’d wonder if there’s play there to detox the medication toxin. My mental space changed DRAMATICALLY once I got b12 injections. About shot #30 and I felt it. Prior to that it was like injecting water. But one day within 10 minutes the lights went on hard. So many medications deplete b12 or affect gut absorption leaving one with little to no b12 and massive mental issues both with anxiety and depression and dementia and Alzheimer’s. I was having daily dementia like episodes. Hope some one looks into the b12 rabbit hole. And other Bs possibly too.

The real issue was not mental or emotional distress (my life has not been a bed of roses, but, hey!). For several months I suffered, (and still do) shocking physical protracted withdrawals and am having to take three new antihistamines, and extra antipsychotic, and nutritional drinks to compensate for my sudden weight loss. Have been on a form of this medication, since the age of 6. Born in 1959, it was marked as mother’s little helper. Fast forward to today, getting prescriptions refilled has been difficult. Resulting in overwhelming anxiety. Resulting in hospitalizations, misdiagnosis such as angina, and prescribed an end stage cardiac medication, which made me extremely ill and did not solve the problem. Furthermore, cardiologist told me that going off of this medication was this serious risk and could result in death. No one wants to prescribe it have been on it since the age of six. Sick of being treated like a drug addict and is up on the medication because of the abuse I suffered as a child.

Now i have CPTSD and it is all coming back to me. Tranquilisers never blunted my mind, i remember everything like it was yesterday. Women who cant love a child or singles them out, should never have children! Doctors who cut anyone off benzodiazepines or any anxiety drug should be sacked from treating one and having their licence taken away. Many of them think they are God, there isnt a lot of good doctors about now. Its all about ego. Even memory doesn't have to transfer. Psychedelics states can be so radical that they do not store well in human memory. What you gotta keep in mind is that time is imaginary, so yeah, on salvia you could dream some crazy stuff, like spending 55 years in another life. That's not a mistake, that's how consciousness works at the deepest levels. The whole point of taking salvia is to erase the distinction between 55 years being objectively real vs imaginary. If you take enough psychedelics that distinction will disappear because it is dreamed up by consciousness in the first place.
@playingindies67302 күн бұрын
Also check the positive side. I never had a paid job, couldnt get a degree. I was stuck at home doing nothing. Then finally decided to listen and take meds. Within 4 years I got 2 degrees and am well on my way for the third. Also got a well paid job. Built up a social network. Yes, I might have shortened my life or my organs, but I went from barely ever leaving my bed to an almost normal life. I did have complications after a surgery and it hurt. And when I asked for painkillers they put in the system that I just wanted pills. At the same time I had declined morphine because I didnt want something that heavy. I asked them to draw blood and my blood comfirmed my story. I was admitted straight away and given painkillers and antibiotics. Within 4 days I felt completely fine again.

The problem with benzos is 25% the drug and 75% the medical profession. It has always been that way in fact. We can either take these drugs off the market entirely, or the medical profession needs a compete reboot with regard to benzos and opioids (among other things). No patient, ever, should be assumed an addict, nor be shamed for legal use of these drugs (and consequent dependence), nor denied relief from pain and anxiety. Just like the decades long efforts in eliminating sexual harassment in the work place, doctors need to be mandated to take courses in sensitivity and addiction medicine. The near-total lack of prescribing ethics during the 1980s-2000s has now been replaced by essentially adversarial, punitive patient 'care' WRT these drugs. And all of it under the "guidance" of a profit-driven insurance industry. Back then it was 'just minimize cost by giving them a script and getting them out the door'; and now that there's been media attention (and litigation) they have just moved over to doing what the malpractice insurers demand. Do doctors ever have a mind of their own? needless to say, both methods leave patient welfare out of the equation.
