Hickory is the Same as anywhere else! Lived there many years, if your looking to raise hell and party 24/7 definitely not the place for you! as in a slow paced chill , staying to yourself and commuting for business , attending the farmers markets for neighborly grown produce ,I’d say it’s not that bad , Morganton Nc is right next door with the amazing camping and hiking of the blue ridge mountains- and if you desire an up class night on the town, Charlotte is just a 45-min - hour drive depending on traffic- let’s not bash our Carolina home for views and likes ! so much you did NOT mention that’s amazing about the area! Apparently you’re not from the area and haven’t had the opportunity of getting out the house to see all that is within reach of living Nc style- so anyone that watches this video hit me up! I’ll break down all the positives and opportunities of enjoying the area! Way more to life than a restaurant or nightclub- the Appalachian mountains are in your backyard with many breath taking views and moments waiting ! As for southern hospitality with the real natives of the area and know the history of the land! Another thing this video didn’t seem to know or mention, every fifth person in the neighborhood is a millionaire! 🎉 mostly on the Morganton side - look into census for more information- so many many things I could go on about with these little towns yet I’ll wait for the next fake news videography. You are spot on! All 10 you chose are so true. I haven’t been in this area long but it takes some getting used to if you’ve always lived in a decent sized city. It’s definitely slower paced. And less things to do. And you totally need a vehicle!!

I'm moving to North Carolina this weekend .I visited Hickory about a month ago and I liked it while I was driving around ,but what you said about the humidity makes me wonder .I don't mind heat but I hate high humidity.I'm willing to try small and quiet time living.I'm coming from San Diego California so this is a big change for me .I was driving around Hickory and other neighboring towns looking for charging stations because I have an electric car you guys don't have many charging stations.

I’m originally from New York so it was an adjustment for me as well. There’s a website that shows where charging stations are so you can find them easier. They are around but many not as many as what you’re used to. Feel free to contact me so we can chat about your family’s needs and make your relocation as smooth as possible.

In the 60's, 70's hickory was the best city in the world to live in, it got ruint by greedy city council who allowed walmart to move in and the viewmont section stink's someday's like the sewage is running into the catawba river. The present prosecutor doesn't seem to forget his attorney buddies from the past and stuttered when I mentioned SAW to him one day, the newspaper talks about tax evasion and him owing $ thousands to other people. We difinetly have a two tier justice system in Burke, Caldwell and, Catawba counties. Just read all the newspaper articles about all the past 5 or 6 prosecutor's in what is now called the 36th judicial district. Redlight Camera's will follow You from one side of hickory to the other, expect no privacy in Your car. Cop's actually steal from one another in and around hickory. If You are not already paranoid, stay away from hickory. I've been living in and around hickory 60 or, more year's, I've went from loving it to hating it.😢 Hickory also has some stupid cop's that will follow You from Newton, N.C. into Conover, N.C. Up

I lived in hickory from 1988 until 2017 Wasted years The town shuts down about 9 Dinner and a movie is the only things to do... jobs dont pay much, crime is getting crazy...if you live in hickory you always go somewhere else to enjoy yourself, nobody vacations in hickory...the only thing good is lake hickory has good fishing if you have a boat...very few parks at the lake for regular folks!

The justice system is the biden kind, two tier, in Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties, unfortunately hickory is in Catawba.
