Ocala is for people who like the outdoors. If you like hiking, bike riding, horseback riding, camping, springs, etc., Ocala is the place to live. What I enjoy about this area is that I'm two hours from Georgia, 75 minutes from Orlando, two hours from Tampa, 45 minutes from Gainesville, 90 minutes from Daytona, 60 minutes from the Gulf. We have really good restaurants, too. There's a food truckhub right off I75 on 464 that is probably about 50+ trucks strong. The schools are really good. Shands hospital is 45 minutes away. You don't wait on line for anything, almost always walk into a market, restaurants, doctor appointments, etc., and you're attended to right away. We have Big Lee's bbq, won Food Network for best bbq. There's a lot more, too many pros to mention. But, yes, there are cons, such as, the best paying jobs are in the medical or transportation fields, but I have lived in several cities in the USA and I can honestly say that Ocala is not too bad. ✌️

I moved here from Jacksonville and I also lived in Clearwater. With that being said it’s a beautiful area and I’m not worried about the nightlife because I’ve been there done that . What I have noticed is that it’s a noticeable trade down job wise and I’m not a libtard albeit but a noticeable amount of people are backwards also. I suspect from a lack of dealing with different things .

I still have family in and around Ocala, I must say your reasons are SPOT ON! After spending some time there, over the years, I've seen firsthand how fast this area has grown. The BUGS especially and stated reasons are why I still live in the PNW.

Been here from 2000 with wife and kids and had to resort to a Truck Driving job, bcuz good jobs are scarce and pay is pretty Low. With my wife being a nurse we were able to manage. We used to go to Orlando just to enjoy the restaurants, bcuz we are also vegetarians. Ocala is really for retirees.❤

Gonna disagree with you bro. Think about it. Young people need somewhere to buy their first home. Not only for retirees. I agree with you on the job scarcity. Welcome to trucking🚛

If you have any complaints about Ocala, then I suggest you move out. I've been here, from New York, since 2008 and I have found nothing wrong with the town. So it must be you. Taxes are low, utilities are bundled, people are nice and the town has everything a person needs to live comfortably here and it's all close by. This place is heaven compared to New York, which I would not go back to. Not to the cold winters, high taxes and a corrupt state government full of very stupid people. The only thing I don't like about Florida is that it is NOT a beautiful state like New York, other wise it's great down here, despite a few hot days in summer.

@Joelswinger34 joel listen buddy. A young person would be financially smart to choose a cheaper city to own a home and stack cash. Everyone cant choose the major city. Just makes it more crowded. Obviously you have to wait until more businesses are created or just leave on weekends for fun. F*ck culture..the US is a melting pot, get a grip man.

@Jkoziol7257712 күн бұрын
Okay here are some more reasons you did not mention. You may have to change number to at this point in time. We were highly affected by the hurricane but we get a lot of tornadoes. Homelessness is a huge problem. So is constant panhandling any gas station you go to some idiot is always asking you for money. Why are these people homeless and asking you for money well they can't get a job and that's including through the temporary labor places which have already fired them. But the majority of them are on drugs anything from weed to fentanyl to Molly and any kind of weird party drugs that are on. And with panhandlers a lot of them you really don't want to give them anything because there's been quite a few carjackings because people were trying to hand what they thought was a panhandler money and turns out they were carjacked. There's also a huge identity theft ring that keeps popping up constantly in this area. You have basically three areas either big houses that cost a lot that are brand new and cheaply made or you can go live in the trailer park communities or you can go live in the hood. And the majority of your traffic jams are along i-75 ramps. The mall is pretty decent because you know a lot of the other areas say like citrus county closed their mall but we still have one. There are not too many name brand outlets in the mall and as of for several years it has been safe until last Christmas when some guy that decided to have a two of a cross on his head decided to practice is second amendment right on his ex-girlfriend a new boyfriend. So basically the criminals they do have are pretty much really stupid around here. So you also don't want to keep your cars unlocked around this area. If you drop a phone in the street I guarantee you'll have like six people in the hood literally running towards it.

Grew up in Ocala and live here now, and the infrastructure isn't ready for the growth we're getting. There's nothing to do, it's boring. The wages suck, so you can't afford to go out of town for something to do. And frankly, the jobs aren't even really here either. Plenty of places say they're hiring, but they don't really seem like they are hiring to grow, but hiring to throw away existing employees who try getting more out of their job.

This!! I wish people would stop coming to Ocala,we cannot handle all of the traffic let alone jobs that aren't here!!
