If you are thinking about moving to Tucson, Arizona you should watch this video. Don't get me wrong, Tucson is a great city, it just has it's problems like every city. They do have great people and great tacos. If you are thinking about calling a real estate agent and picking up a mortgage, watch this before.
If you enjoy these videos I would love to hear about it. Most of these videos are made to help people who are thinking about relocating, looking for real estate, or just wanting to learn about the United States. We look at the best and worst cities, states, towns, and neighborhoods in the United States. But, most of the time focus on the negative side of locations. If you only want some happy positive information about a city, town, or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine, rainbows and a bunch of smoke up your skirt. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, bail bondsmen, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will. And I will try and make it entertaining.

I think your review of Tucson is ridiculous. I moved here from Chicago, where 100 people are shot every week, where the weather sucks for most of the year, where politicians are as criminal as the criminals, and the taxes are so high for what you get in return. Traffic stinks on every “Tollway”, yes you have to pay for every major road you travel on. By the way, the condition of the roadways is the worst in the country. It may be sunny in Tucson, but you don’t have to shovel it. Additionally, Illinois is ranked no 49 in places to retire. Did I say the state of Illinois is financially insolvent. Tucson is now my home, and I couldn’t be happier

I think the review was rather fair, as it focuses on pointing out some of the major flaws of the city someone might overlook. It’s not trying to say that Tucson is the worst place to live ever, just pointing out that there is room for criticism. At the end of the day, where you choose to live comes down to personal preference in terms of what you think is best for your particular circumstances.

I moved to Tucson five years ago and yes, this video is spot-on. Crime is really out of control, BUT it is property crime for the most part, not violent crime. Has my house been broken into? Yes. Has stuff been stolen from my car? Yes. Have I been rear-ended in a hit and run? Yes. BUT, I don't know anyone who has been mugged or assaulted, and when I lived in DC half the people I knew had been mugged. So pick your poison. I can replace my electronics. The insurance paid to repair my car. I can't replace my life.

Tucson is actually considered water rich when it comes to the amount of drinking water we have in storage for the next few decades. We actually store water for the city of Phoenix(area). The Tucson area has always been more water conscious by not having grass in the most yards and xeriscaping. The city is designed to blend with its environment instead of mimicking Los Angeles. I know this is a do not video. But Tucson does also have cooler temperatures than the Phoenix area, more monsoon and rain, no Haboobs, and occasional seasonal snow fall. Not to mention the most southern ski lift in the United States. Tucson is naturally visually and environmentally greener. Im not talking about man-made landscaping but the Sonoran desert around us and up against our 5 mountain ranges.

Tucson or Phoenix, every year there are people new to hiking that get stuck or worse out there in the heat due to lack of prep for the hike. As far as food, I ran into a lady last winter from up north somewhere, and she thought Chipotle was the best Mexican food in Tucson LOL.
@dizzybee4176
@dizzybee4176 3 жыл бұрын
@Tucson Jim I said they get stuck in the heat, not because of the heat. Normally they get stuck without enough water and usually because they went off-trail without knowledge of the area they are hiking in. Also, I never said that Tucson didn't have the best Mexican food, I said a snowbird from up north thought chipotle was the best anywhere, which is ridiculous.

I dialed 911 in Tucson four times over the course of an hour and 40 minutes before the police actually showed up. And another time, my daughter who was a minor at the time was beaten by a 35-year-old man punched in the head repeatedly and body slammed, call the police again in an hour later still nobody shows up. My daughter was in pain and just wanted to go home. The police cannot write an accurate report. My own police report was flipped all around upside down, and there were five mistakes in the first two pages I didn't even bother reading the rest. Tucson police are very poorly trained and they don't seem to care about their citizens. After all what city takes an hour and a half to answer a 911 call?

I live in Chandler (90 minutes north of Tucson) and am a native Arizonan but have lived all over the world (retired ship's captain) and I can honestly say that Arizona is one of the best places I've ever lived. That's not saying it's perfect- I've yet to encounter that- but it's damn close. No killer tornadoes, hurricanes (never), floods (rare), and the hot summers are over and done in about 100 "days of hell" (as I call them) and it's better to be inside during the afternoon. Compare that with the problems other states face and it's not such a big deal. Crime? All cities have questionable areas and pockets of higher crime. Common sense is the cure. Scorpions, spiders, lizards, and snowbirds... really? Are these issues? I think not. Peace and Blessing to all!

As someone that's lived here my whole life, i can say the only one of these that's affected me has been the heat. Tucson really is a lovely place, and the lack of freeways is a huge bonus to me, its a completely different type of "city feel". I like how spread out the city is, it rarely feels cramped. But that's just my opinion i suppose. Although i don't care for the lack of good motorcycle riding roads :(

Strange video. I've lived in 4 different cities in the USA and traveled to 11 countries. I'm a proud tucsonan for 20 years. Tucson is one of the best places I've ever lived. Pushback: south Tucson has most of the crime. Central and north Tucson are very safe. The cost of living is very cheap, hence snowbirds. People are very friendly and the mild winter makes up for the hot summer (in my opinion). No natural disasters- no earthquakes, volcanoes, tornados or hurricanes! There is also much natural beauty and unique culture here. If you don't mind the heat, it's a very special place to live.

Jason Mateos I agree, but socio/politically speaking as a conservative, the government here are and have been on board with all the globalism i.e. sustainable development and global warming nonsense for years. The current mayor and both congressional reps and police chief are all basically incompetent. I’ve been in this area for 19 years. It could be so much better if there were any kind of sane political leadership.

Rattlesnakes, don't forget to mention the rattlesnakes. The humane society actually has rattlesnake avoidance classes for dogs. And the coyotes, owls, Bobcats and other assorted predators prefer cats and small dogs to the regular cuisine of rabbits and lizards. Only 2 seasons in Tucson, HOT and HOTTER. There is a mountain where you can escape the heat in a 30 minute drive. Oh yeah, that mountain is on fire right now and we are probably going to have to leave our home by morning, with 4 dogs and a cat. Gonna be a long night. We do have water, it's just heavily chlorinated CAP most wells are not operating anymore. And the crime wouldn't be so bad if the police were actually doing something about it, but since the prisons are privatized, they only want decent hard working people for their prison labor force. But, since the jobs are scarce, it could be a win win.

I have lived in Tucson for many years, and also taught on the Southside of Tucson as a special ed teacher for years. Yes, it is a bit rough here and there, but the school systems aren't so bad that kids don't learn here. I have met many dedicated and fabulous teachers who worked around the low budget and still helped graduate many high-achieving students. Tucson is also much more water- wise than Los Angeles. Yup, I lived there too, and can tell you that the sprinkler systems water the sidewalks more than the grass in Los Angeles. Currently crime is high in many places in the States, and while Tucson is not an oasis of peace and love, it is a place where its residents and people have great honor and kindness in their hearts in most of the city. As to the heat, it is actually much cooler here than in Phoenix, and my A/C bill has never been higher than $155 for my entire house and that only for two months. Most of my bills, 10 months out of the year are $50-$60 a month. If you live in a cinderblock or concrete building, crack a few windows open to create a few cross drafts, and run a couple ceiling fans and a few floor fans, your home can be quite comfortable, but then again, 74-76 degrees is quite alright for me. Tucson has given my skeletal joints new life with its dry heat, and I can't be thankful enough to have hardly any arthritic pain.

People always hate where they live instead of learning how to appreciate it. People have it worse in other areas. I was born and raised in California. I couldn’t wait to graduate high school so I could leave. I hated that it was hot/sunny year round 🤣 i wanted to see different seasons..I moved to the east coast.. I’ve been here 3 years and I miss California like crazy. I hate myself for not appreciating the beauty I had in California, the sunshine, the diverse people and all of the fun things to do. On the east coast, it’s always gloomy, the sun is rarely out, the weather is unpredictable, you frequently have to cancel plans because it rains out of no where, the beaches aren’t the same, the people aren’t the same.. I’m moving back home next week and I can’t wait..I’m gonna explore as much as California as I can and be grateful that it’s my home ❤️ I have been to Tucson as well and it’s a very beautiful city. Where I am now on the east, the city has no personality, no character, it’s boring.. Tucson has plenty of character and it’s own style. Plenty of interesting people too lol.. I live in a perfect city on the east coast, where everyone is educated and “normal”. Trust me, they’re boring lol i love cities like Tucson, you see all sorts of people. Another thing people should appreciate about Tucson is being able to see the horizon and sunsets.. over here, I’m surrounded by trees and haven’t seen a sunset in 3 years.

I lived for a while in Phoenix in 1976, when it was about the size of Tucson now, about 500,000 people. We did visit Tucson once while living in Phoenix, about 120 miles to the SE. I remember the dust storm warning signs to pull off the road, though we didn't have dust storms, I think called, habibs, like they have recently. I used to hear the AU radio station on FM near Tucson, KUAT, from MT Lemmon. I think I remember the vegetation in Tucson was more dessert like than in Phoenix, as they had more irrigation of lawns then. Also there was the Central Arizona Project being built to bring in more water from the Colorado River. One of the main streets in Tucson is Speedway. Yes, Phoenix, now has more Freeways than just I-10 and I-17 back in 1976. We saw the changes visiting Phoenix in 2003. I think Nogales means walnuts in Spanish. Yes, it's hot for about 6 months of the year. I remember being in Soutj Mountain Park at 116 degrees. Now Phoenix reachs 120 too. The scenery is great and loved the Heard Museum with the Indian style Squashblossom Jewelry of Silver and Turquoise stones. There are a lot of snowbirds from the Midwest. It was more unusual, then coming from NY, to be from the East. Those are some memories from Arizona 44 years ago.

The roads suck, the crime is pretty bad, and lots of homelessness. But in regards to the heat, it’s actually cooler than the Phoenix metro area. It’s a tad bit higher in elevation. It actually cools down at night, which is more than can be said for the Phoenix area. Sometimes at midnight in Phoenix/Mesa it’s still 101° in the summer. Tucson doesn’t get that...

Really? I’m from a small town in Indiana and I’m itching to leave and start new but want to be closer with nature so I was looking into Phoenix and it was too expensive for me on my own. Tucson was another thought I had that was more affordable. Is it a pretty good place?

@@shelbycaldwell1265 it is very difficult to know if someone will like dessert lifestyles. You seem to be optimistic and very outgoing, so I think you will thrive anywhere you would like to go. Choosing the Tucson area over Phoenix would be a good idea for we are more intergraded with nature than Phoenix. I hope that was helpful and I wish you good luck on your search.

Tucson just happens to be where I was born. Linda Rondstat too. I remember that day when it was over 100 degrees. We went to Norgales too.
