He has a huge percentage of the younger demographic behind him, and if he gets the nom, he would absorb all the Hilary voters, and he has a lot more of the minority vote too. The republican party has very few views young people can get behind, aren't very supportive of immigrants or minorities, and aren't very supportive of women, so regardless of whether their views are valid or not, they are still shooting themselves in the foot as far as appealing to a broad range of voters. They are holding on to the traditional Christian values which are becoming increasingly irrelevant as the nation becomes more secular. As for your argument about congress, absolutely no candidate can bring congress together, it is more divided than ever. You think Trump or Cruz would rally democrats to their pov and get votes? No. The truth is, candidates' positions are based on what they would IDEALLY do if elected. No matter what, any president isn't going to be able to accomplish 95% of what they say they are going to do when running. Politicians use mostly words to convince people, everyone knows it, and most politicians are full of shit when they talk. Bernie Sanders is different though, because he has proven he believes in all his proposed actions by voting alongside them. He has proven he won't let large corporations own him by not accepting super PAC money. So in the end, I would rather vote for someone who I know is going to do the best they can and believe what they are saying than vote for someone who's actions and words contradict each other.

The military budget has been cut since the 80s, welfare has been getting increased, manufacturing leaves America, and the national debt keeps getting bigger. How can the military, which doesn't influence the economy, possibly be the cause? The military gets about 18% of the budget, or around $590-$610B. Social Security and Healthcare get 48% and desperately need reform. When Social Security was implemented the average life expectancy was 64 and you got paid at 65. Now, the life expectancy is 81 and you still get paid at 65. After Obamacare, Healthcare started becoming more expensive for everyone who already had Healthcare, and every single major Healthcare initiative (Obamacare, Medicare, Medicaid) has cost billions more than estimated. And you want to vote for the guy who wants to do another, bigger healthcare initiative? The same guy, might I add, that was the Head of the Veterans Affairs Senate Committee. The way the VA treats vets is criminal. It takes 40 days on average for a vet to get care. And that all happened while Bernie was in charge of it. Another thing, when this information came out, he went and passed some bill to "protect veterans" that made it harder to fire the administrators that cause this sort thing. If you are an administrator and you steal hundreds of thousands of dollars meant for veterans, you don't get fired or arrested, you get demoted, thanks to Bernie. That's the guy you want to vote for.

I really don't get why Americans are so afraid of socialism. If you look at countries that apply it properly to their way of leading it actually works out better than capitalism. Also, he's advocating for systems that are proven effective in virtually every industrialized nation...except for the US. Whether Bernie wins or not, he's already made a massive positive difference in this country. For his ideology, for the sake of so, so many people, I am morally obligated. If I didn't vote for him, it would haunt me for the rest of my life. We need this. I don't care what other people say in terms of "impracticality" because this man has a vision, and if you take the time to look into it, it makes sense. This man has a lifetime of experience in the real world, with real people, he has proven how dedicated he is to the people here in our country. Nah..... BETTER. America was pretty good in the fifties, economically, but we were creating a lot of problems that we wouldn't face until further down the line. And indeed it did go downhill from there. It's like we got a surplus after WW2, and we wasted it. Bernie's gonna take what we have and build on it without resorting to war profiteering. I think if Bernie wins, he'll make America better than it ever has been. He may have to compete for the title, but Bernie just might be the Greatest American President of all time. Roosevelt and Washington might give him a run for his money, but they weren't as great as Americans say they are. I think Bernie might steal the title.

I'm not an American, nor do I live in the United States, so I don't get to vote in this particular election. But I do know enough about the American political system to know that voting for Bernie Sanders in the primaries and the general election is NOT ENOUGH. Having Bernie Sanders in the Oval Office will be a wonderful thing, and will earn America some of the kudos that the actions of recent presidents have squandered (and yes, that does include Obama). but Americans who want what Bernie is offering must, must, MUST find and vote for Congressional candidates who want at least some of those same things. There are one or two incumbants in the House that should get to stay, but over the course of this election and the next midterms, the rest need to be ousted.
