Some of the nicest, down to earth people I met were from Ohio. Plus, they are one of a few states that still has a Big Boy restaurant. Eat the hot fudge ice cream cake, beer battered onion rings and you would never leave.

I drove with a friend from Oregon to Maryland in 2003. Columbus reminded me of Portland freeways. I’m considering moving to Ohio- potentially Dayton just to in between many cities and cheaper than the 4th most expensive State in the Union. @@jds2056 I appreciate the thought and feedback. I’ve lived in Mega cities around the world 🌍. 8 million to 15 million people, but grew up in the burbs of Portland. Damn Californians have been moving in since the 90s. That’s not the point-I simply want a minimum of half a million city proper or more. I’ve lived in as small as 750 people to 100,000 people. Dayton on the map is nicer than what I expected from Google Earth 🌎. A super mini Portland in a purple state. Definitely less people per square mile. That stat is part of research that shows levels of happiness

Don't know what decision you've made up to this point but, I grew up between Dayton and Cincinnati in Warren County. It's a great place to live and raise a family with plenty of things to do around if you find yourself with free time. I can't wait to move back when I get out of the military (I'd recommend not living in New Mexico).

I grew up in Ohio and it can get down to 1 below zero and along the Lake you get the Canadian wind off the Lake. I grew up in Mentor on the Lake I was less than a quarter mile from Lake Erie. We usually had all the ice and little snow. we we did get snow we got it. 20 miles inland is the snow belt, it is where the Canadian force winds eventually drop the snow that the winds have carried. in the winter there you will usually not see to much of the grass, the snow can pile a high as five foot.. It may not be near as bad as Minn. but it is not easy. I hated in September when the sky would start turning gray and it would be damp and rainy. it was for me, "Oh yuck we have six more months of this"!

I used to live in Ohio, not far from Dayton. A winter day can be anywhere from about -20°F to 70° although it is typically 20s and 30s. Unless you live near Lake Erie, you won’t usually see all that much snow.

My dad is from Ohio and I have spent many summers with his side of the family. Cedar Point does have the best coasters. The food is really good, especially European and German. Bars and craft beer are thing. It is a good place to raise kids and people are really friendly. I live on the West coast and still enjoy visiting when I can.

My sister lives in Cincinnati and after years of her pushing me to move there I’m honestly considering it. We have a 1 year old daughter and live in a 2 bedroom apartment. We pay $2200 a month and there’s literally a homeless guy sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the building as I’m writing this. I’ll miss the beach but it might be time to go.

I went to Ohio about 2 years ago, and I saw mutants bodysnatching people at the 7-Eleven. I even had to be guarded by National Guard troops because of how dangerous it is. I still spend a few weeks to a month out of the year there with family who are in Louisville, which besides heavier traffic, hasn't changed much since I was a kid. Business will be out in Plain Township/North Canton area or Jackson Township. I'm not concerned with drugs or crime in either of those spots. My brother lives in Louisville and works for Timken. He keeps me pretty up to date with what's going on in the area.

Ohio really doesn’t deserve the rap it gets as as a boring or bad. I lived in Columbus for years and now live in Dallas, which is supposed to be this interesting and exciting city. But if I could transplant my life and job back to Columbus I would. The neighborhoods have an actual community feeling that I miss. The cost of living is reasonable. And I think the lower Midwest in general just has the perfect seasons. Fall is right on time and it normally starts snowing right around December for Christmas. I honestly miss it.

About 5 years ago was driving to a Auction in Akron and had to turn back Home, wind and rain was so strong my Old Durango was Hydro Planing and being blown all over the turn pike even when I was driving at 40, had to go into one of there Rest Stops and wait it out. Affordable housing is not an option in 2022, so don't move here for that reason. Ohio means "beautiful", it is so green and the nature is amazing, prairies everywhere. 4 seasons, yes, tons of free sledding hills. While the video touched more on food and paid places to visit, there are other things to check out in Ohio completely for free: state parks and beaches (free to enter), Columbus metro parks and their amazing free programs and festivals, other cities metro parks systems like Cleveland and Dayton, caves, caverns, all kinds of farms (including free historical farms), Preservation Parks of Delaware County, waterfalls (there are 3 in Columbus), Cuyahoga Valley National Park (no entry fee), etc. I don't buy any museum memberships because the free places are so many and at such a good quality, that we would not use any membership to pay itself. Some parks have nature centers that are like free museums. Also, there are no tolls here to go over bridges or highways.
