Thanks!! Agree with your top ten. 11 and 12 Maybe include a paper map of the areas and the contact numbers. Eg police, ses, ambo, station owner/farmer. Also maybe any mining companies in the area. Never know where the Exploration team could be or reach quickly. Well done and have fun on your travels!!

Mate if you find yourself in a blast zone, you’ve clearly gone past a lot of huge warning signs and locked gates to get there and deserve it

And don't rely on the Mines Rescue Team, yes they may help you in extreme circumstances, but it means closing down the Mine because they will no longer have emergency cover.

Awesome tips. I would just add take a Telstra and an Optus Phone. We did a lap in 2019 and a lot of remote inland towns were Optus towns.

"I never go into the outback without a decent supply of water, and the general rule for how much you'll need is three litres per day, per person, per man, per degree over 25 degrees celcius, per kilometre if walking on foot, in the winter months dividing it by two, plus... another litre... at the end" (IYKYK)

Great vid mate, all awsome tips. I would also suggest a sat phone or sat sleeve to go on your mobile phone. I do a lot of hiking and fishing remote area's in Cape York and I always take a sat phone and a PLB that way I know I'm covered. Love your vids and can't wait to see more.

All good ideas & equipment. Also consider a battery jump starter pack ? Small but handy & you can even take in your boat bag for charging your mobile phone etc.

I run an ICOM UHF, one good feature is that you can boost power up to 25w from the standard 5w & in an emergency you can at least get your signal sent further if needed 👍

For couples, you could go with different providers, I have telstra and misso has Optus. We've noticed that she has reception more often than me when we go remote.

For mobiles, I would dispute going with telstra. We had a Telstra and Optus phone on our recent trip across and up the centre from Sydney. Optus had greater coverage up the Centre so would suggest having both - ie get a cheap Optus monthly plan if you are on Telstra.

Garmin InReach for both on the motorbike or in the 4WD. Better than the SPOT units.

I have that exact GME PLB you have on this video. It'll need the battery replaced every 5-6years. And only GME can replace them. I just had mine replaced. It's not cheap but it's not as expensive as buying another GME PLB.

Just letting you know that Optus now has the same amount of coverage as Telstra. (you may have no Telstra reception but might have 2-3 bars of optus of 3G. Vice versa as well)

@@fraserson1 My friends have telstra and I have optus. When I have been up north I have had no reception in some areas and they have had bars. Then they have had 0 bars and I have had enough bars to call, scroll socials, watch youtube, plan around weather etc. it really depends where you are.

If you can still get mobile phone coverage, you aren't remote. That said, we are 30k from Parliament House in Canberra and can't get Telstra. They claim to cover 90% of the population but that's only 10% of the land mass.
