Mate the Amen break gave me so much, drum and Bass Head and Hip-Hop initiate for as long as I can remember. Your enthusiasm for music and educating us on the history and origins of the beats, lyrics and sounds that drive the music that we have loved in our lifetimes makes me happy to see someone with a passion like mine Not seen the whole series yet but if it is not in, cannot believe that Led Zepplins "Kasmir" didn't get a mention! You should be at somebodies college teaching hip hop 101 from a producers stand point. Not only do you love the music, you do your homework and you educate. That is priceless. Every lil wayne fan should watch your videos and visit your site. We need hip hop in school. I mean man, how old are you? How did you find that Big Pimpin sample? Crazy!

@fmbighair it's no coincidence that luther brought them to ur mind, he was actually one of the 1st to have that fast cadence with R&B, listen to "never to much", not as fast to us, but for them times, that was a really fast cadence for R&B, a style influenced by Bone thugs, Beyonce, and much more.
@martbee80516 жыл бұрын
Keep up the good work, FuNktaLL!! All you breakbeat heads should check out 'Breakestra'. It's a live band out of L.A. that plays alot of these songs live. They've been around for awhile and have a few Live CD's out and some vids on youtube.

No Diggity sample is like a straight clean rip! Holy shit the Postive K sample is fly too! That Vandross sample is vicious, big ups to Jungle Brothers. That Daft Punk song is a huge favorite of mine. I prefer it to Kanye's who I personally thought destroyed a great song, but that's just my opinion. LOVE that Daft Punk track, it's brilliant mixing. Great set yet again!

@benjamindollar04 thanks for the heads up, just checked out Never Gonna Be, idk, didn't really think it had a fast cadence even by 80's standards, not a real strong song either. There's not really a strong chorus but i DID love the guy doing roller disco in the video :) I actually think Luther's strong point is on the slower sweeter songs where he can sort of stretch his wings a bit.
@fashnek16 жыл бұрын
I don't believe Kanye West's song "Stronger" has a single sound from "Cola Bottle Baby". It's true that Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" (incorrectly cited as "Harder Better Faster") was sampled, but only Daft Punk's vocoded lyrics were used -- not anything from Edwin Birdsong's track.
