I've heard most of these despite me living in Maine and those legends being in the more southern/western parts, but that's because I've been fasinated since I was a kid. Urban legends aren't really taught in schools and a lot of people still think that they arent real because they never saw or heard anyrhing like it.

I’m from Tennessee, but I don’t think you could get a full top 10 from us alone. That being said it would be interesting to see a top ten list done for the Southern States. The one thing you for sure can not forget though is the Bell Witch. That is one from Tennessee, but I think it’s fairly well known in other parts of the country. Supposedly there was an evil spirit (referred to as “Katie”) that tormented multiple generations of the Bell family (until the passing of the original patriarch of the family) there were many eye witnesses including a president. It really is one of my favorite US ghost stories/urban legends. The Deep South (states like Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana) usually have pretty good ones too. I love watching these videos, it’s an amazing view into other countries cultures and of course superstitions.

I've heard about the Night Marchers from Hawaii, when me and my family took a trip there, we went on a tour, a REAL tour, not the ones done by non locals that are just spouting things but the tour guide was this large elderly Hawaiian dude who told the tale of the Night Marchers and exclaimed that they were warriors who felt that they don't deserve an after life as they fell in battle before being able to shed blood for the Hawaiian God of War Ku, They hunt for a worthy opponent to slay so they may finally find peace and they are known to attack ANYONE and the only way to protect yourself is to show you're not worthy to kill by acting like an animal. you must piss yourself, remove all your clothes, and rub mud on your skin before kneeling down with your head to the ground until you hear the war drums stop.

From what I've read, Marie Leveau(sp?) was actually a good person who used her Voodoo for healing and who did a lot charity work, visiting people in prison and so on. Re. Stow Lake, it seems cruel to call "I have your baby" when the don't have the child and can't possibly give him/her back to the mother. But then, a lot of ghost stories have elements of cruelty. I live in California and have never heard of any of the California legends you tell about here. Interesting!
