Elmo has parents but we barely see them Search up “Sesame Street griefs” his uncle is dead so he his dad and Aunt and cousins have a grief Elmo is so young he has to learn about death at a very young age as he had to be told a few times by his dad “well... your uncle... he’s... dead.” He is told about death but the weird thing is Nobody cries but his cousin Not even Elmo And Elmo has a huge family His parents, his dad is from an army but I think retired for more family time, his mother is your average mom, He has cousins from both sides His mom has a sister who has a husband named furgus and a daughter named Chloè who can talk to chickens they own a hotel called the furchester hotel and get very unusual guests they get rocks, (and chickens duh) Animals, skunks, authors, and more His dad has a brother who is married to a fuzzy blue woman, they have a daughter I forgot their names, A few years later Elmo’s dad’s brother dies. Elmo has a lost sister Named Daisy, she was only introduced in classic books and after that was never mentioned again The rest of his family tree is unknown BUT Elmo’s mom has ANOTHER sister, her name and her husband’s name unknown, they have a daughter I forgot her name, and she can speak to wolfs.

I have a theory about Ernie: Ernie doesn't just see Bert as a friend, he sees him as his emotional support person. He is often portrayed as being the fun one of the duo and puts Bert through all kinds of shenanigans, but is shown to be paranoid when Bert is not around and even has been shown to be afraid of monsters in some instances. Tying in with the whole evil creatures theory, it's possible that Ernie has repressed memories when he was once very little of when the monsters were once evil and was possibly a victim terrorized by them. In older sketches, Count once hypnotized Bert and Ernie and Cookie Monster once broke into Ernie's house to steal his pillow. Overtime however, Ernie grew to be friends with both the Count and Cookie, and Ernie was the first person that Cookie grew an attachment for, so you can see in their friendship during rehabilitation that Cookie grew to be more friendly and Ernie grew to be less afraid
