Imagine writing such a good, suspenseful, and twisted ending to a movie that Stephen king himself said he wishes he would’ve come up with that ending rather than the one in his book. Gg to the screenplay writer of the mist

@@snoox27 Funnily enough, it is NOT Stephen King's ending. The short story ends with them just driving off into the mist, with not much hope. This gutpunch of an ending is the brainchild of director (and long time collaborator of King) Frank Darabont. He made the ending, didn't tell King and was worried the author would hate it. He needn't have worried, though - King intimated upon viewing, that his only beef with it was not having come up with it himself :)

Everyone always complains about the Mist ending saying it was pretty bad and "What he couldn't wait 30 seconds?" it's not like they knew rescue was coming. The ending was pretty good honestly, it makes sense too.

It just feels too much like a punchline of a bad joke to me, personally. But then I don't like scenes that so obviously try to manipulate emotion out of you like that. +Oisín Lynch You are very right about the tragedy. As two kids, the death of each other was the worst thing that Romeo and Juliet had ever experienced. But any parent will say that even the *prospect* of losing their own child is far, far worse. Not only is a child part of you, and not only is it your *job* to protect it; a child is defenseless and trusts and depends *entirely* on you to protect it. Any parent would gladly sacrifice everything if it would ensure their child's survival. And nobody should have to suffer the pain of outliving their own child. :-(

I only kind of agree with you on that, while the detective has the sudden realisation that he's been talking to a criminal mastermind the whole time and would have arrested him in a second, if he'd known, but he didn't make any decisions that led to big consequences, he just went through the process of interviewing a person of interest, recording what they'd said, then let him leave. Spacey's character certainly didn't seem to be under arrest as he was sitting in a chair facing the detective's desk in his office, and i believe was left in there alone a few times when the detective went to check on things. He wasn't locked in an integration room with officers posted outside the door.

@midnytemassacre7 жыл бұрын
tanner1ie Spacey was 'under arrest' however he was amidst a pending deal for his release via voluntary confession. Spacey wasn't allowed to be talked to and Kevin wouldn't do another interrogation room. When he was brought into the chief's office he was uncuffed. After all he was just a "cripple from New York". I'd classify it as a what did I do moment - wholly because the detective was determined to prove Keiser Soze was Gabriel Byrne. He wasn't even paying attention to all the hints Spacey gave him. Top that with the fact he had a legendary mass murderer right in front of him.

In Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street when he kills the old beggar lady in his shop and then later finds out it was his own wife he killed. The last words she says, "hey, don't I know you mister?" And then later Sweeney sings, "Lucy...what have I done?" That should've definitely made the list.

I don't know why I've always found remorse and guilt the best elements to add on a movie script or a book. It's a natural, common emotion or feeling among humans (yeah, not including any other kind of creature from film history). Happiness, sadness, anger and many others, we can get rid of those soon or later, but guilt... the guilt remains painfully for longer, and sometimes forever. Maybe I find those elements so attractive because to present them on the big screen requires a lot from an actor or actress, and when it is will represented, it makes you feel the same uneasy feeling. It says a lot of a good perfomance of any actor. Brilliant.

Umm... no, Snape was being a creep towards Harry and showed extreme prejudice as well, Snape deserved Harry's resentments; it wasn't until the Half-Blood prince that we got a completely different Snape that we HAD to feel bad for him, but it doesn't change his actions, Snape didn't protect shit. Snape didn't protect him against Voldemort, since he was an agent of Volde, he didn't protect him from any other problems EXCEPT other students, but... who gives a rat's ass about Malfoy? Worst yet, the only help Snape gave was his notes as a student that Harry used in the only narrative where we HAVE to feel bad for Snape, "Half-Blood Prince." I'm sorry, but Snape didn't rectify his actions, so if Harry felt any "what have I done" feelings, which I'm willing to bet he doesn't feel any remorse stealing from Snape's alchemy closet or using his textbook with notes, than he's a really righteous man, an easily-persuaded man (which is hardly true), or a dumb-ass OR all three. Snape tormented him for 5 and a half years, he deserved Harry's resentment.

Ender's Game has a really good one too. In the movie he's trying to win the game, but in the book he just wanted to end the game and so chose to destroy absolutely everything, thinking the adults wouldn't be happy with him for getting his entire fleet destroyed, only then to learn he had actually just annihilated an entire intelligent species. I think Asa Butterfield does an excellent job in his reaction.

+BIHMOSTWANTED The "noooooo" was responsible for a whole new genre of language. It was translated to chinese for the movie release there. When someone fed the chinese words back through a translation program to get english, all kinds of weirdness came out. The Jedi Council became the Presbyterians, lol. But the famous bit was the "noooo," which translated out as "DO NOT WANT!" And thus, lolcat language was born. (The first two years of Icanhascheezburger were hilarious, before the genuinely funny people moved on to new things. Never as good since then.)
