As someone who's done both, it's harder than guitar + lyricist. Of course, we all bow down to the drummer lyricists. Chords + melodic line is easy; base line + melodic line is hard; breath control on drums in hell level difficulty.

Doug pinnick from King's X is an amazing bass player and vocalist. The song "cigarettes" is my favorite. The guitar player Ty Tabor has one of the best tones in rock. Plus there are three man band which makes it more impressive.

Chris squire Stanley Clarke j o n camp he's with renaissance, then I would put Geddy Lee and then it would be a tie between Greg Lake and John wetton. Unfortunately for Lee this is a singer bassist list so there is no way he should be in the top 10 do you see what I'm saying question mark if it was just Bass he would be number four without a doubt maybe even three tied with j o n camp of Renaissance. No I'll Never Say Geddy Lee isn't a top notch bass player. However as far as this list is concerned Greg Lake of Emerson Lake and Palmer beats them all and should be number one just because of his singing ability alone.

I think Geddy is amazing but his voice is the big let down , esp on tracks like Red Barchetta .... even on Tom Sawyer and Lime Light it has a certain screech . I wish they tried a few more takes to get it smooth. It gets better after Grace Under Pressure .

@@magreen311it’s even harder to sing well. This the rankings. Nobody is saying Les isn’t extremely talented. This list is literally supposed to be the best ever #9 is good. I was a little upset at first with McCarntey at #1 but his bass is actually probably the best instrumentals of most Beatles songs and he can sing. My favorite guys in the list are Geddy Lee & Lemmy which I know aren’t everyone’s cup of tea for singing either depends on what you’re into.
