I am most impressed by Singapore's rapid transformation - from an impoverished Asian nation with limited natural resources to a global gold standard for smart cities in less than five decades. This achievement is truly remarkable.

We definitely cannot compare with China. Their government doesn’t have to answer taxpayers how they spend taxpayer’s money. The rest of the world needs to answer to their people, even the HK govt still need to answer to their people so they have to consider properly before doing an overhaul of their metro system. Btw, HK’s metro is making a profit while in China, we know they are making huge losses although they do look flashy and high tech. 😂

Chinese cities should be at the top of the list. Singapore is a tiny place! I just came back from Shanghai, Nanjing and Chongqing (the most populous city in the world); prior to that Shenzhen, GZ and Xiamen. There are other Chinese cities much better equipped than Singapore!

The Chinese have copied much of the Singapore playbook beginning with the Suchou Industrial Park in 1994 (city-planning, indutrial and urban greenery). These was replicated in the transformations of other Chinese cities.
