@masonthomas25833 жыл бұрын
I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices that. In a zombie apocalypse when people hunker down, they're on the clock. What most would do is immediately put up "Help" or "SOS", implying they are on the brink of being compromised, which can make the very rescuers they need AVOID them, because it wouldn't be safe to risk manpower saving people who've probably already run out of time. If you are able to tell any rescuers you are completely safe, they may be more willing to spend the resources & manpower to save you & your supplies. Of course this logic can backfire, but it kinda seems like it would be more likely to work, when you think about it.

Anyone ever noticed nearly 70% of zombie movies are based in some rural area far from the city, but yet the whole world is infected?
@dafilmqueen5563 жыл бұрын
True, those circumstances wouldn't work for an apocalypse. Actually, realistically, because their bodies are rotting flesh, they wouldn't last a day in the zombie afterlife cause they would mostly be eaten up before an apocalypse could even exist.
@PrinceIsot3 жыл бұрын
A lot of zombie flicks are low budget in nature like most horror films, it's easier for them to film those areas as there's less money put in closing down roads and taking over businesses to film at locations. Also during a zombie apocalypse I wouldn't want to be NEAR THE CITY AT ALL. Lol

One of the best ideas didn't make the list. It comes from Zombieland but is not on Columbus' rules. Make a lot of noise intentionally. When entering a supermarket or souvenir shop on a lonely country road, pluck a guitar or knock over a display case. If you get the attention of the zeds while your back is to the door, you have options. One or two come your way, take 'em down. If a dozen rush you, you can nope out in time. If you tried sneaking around the whole time, you might be deep in the shop when a sneakier bastard gets you. In more urban settings, set off car alarms -- which can be done from a couple blocks away -- if zombs respond to that kind of thing (Left 4 Dead). Set up a Bluetooth speaker and play some audio that they do respond to, if they've learned to tune out noises that don't sound like food. And don't stay too nearby. Calling a bunch of undead to the area and sticking around is a bad idea. But trying to run silently away with no cover noise is fatal.

It was all of the hammering and yelling that did them in. If they had kept the house dark and quiet, they would have made it until morning.
@moviesignsol3 жыл бұрын
The smart thing would to board up the windows from the outside and not the inside. Have two safe zones. 1st basement, 2nd upstairs. Put 2x4s or something to fortify the door from outside pushing. Scatter furniture so the zombies can't get up the stairs or easily push on the basement door. Have two teams, one head up and one head down. But before that happens they should have killed the zombies as they came to the house and not let them gather in too great a number. If I was by myself I'd probably pick the basement. If I was by myself, healthy and could jump out a 2nd story window I would have fortified the upstairs. First thing is to shoot Cooper, he is the Gilligan of the group. In real life I'd died of fright when I saw the dead walking about. lol

I know a lot of people hate 28 Days Later for introducing fast zombies to the genre, but It's probably my favorite zombie movie of all time. The most iconic and recurrent trope in the zombie genre is probably when they try to expose the more animallistic and cruel side of humanity, but no other zombie film does it better than 28 Days Later. Like, in the final scenes of the movie, you see this skinny half-naked guy covered in dirt and with no weapons break into a soldier's base and kill all of them one by one by skulking in the shadows and using the zombies to his advantage. If you think about it, it's fucking terrifying. But turns out he's not a villain, he's the main character. And you were probably rooting for him the whole time.
@Squirleypoo Жыл бұрын
They're not exactly zombies. They're infected humans that have a heartbeat. Stop the heart and you stop the threat, that's why/how they can starve to death.

The list is a mix of "serious" and comical. #1 - diseases is a foolish decision and only applies to one movie. Some, like your honourable mention of boarding up your house is a smart decision in many zombie movies (I Am Legend (original and remake), Omega Man, Dawn of the Dead (although it's a mall), 28 Days Later and many different less well known movies. It would have been nice to have a top 10 of practical smart decision like fortification; weapon selection, if gun selection then type or style, not leaving the group to change or go to the toilet, stay in groups etc.
