In the late 50's I had my first Dr. Pepper, & loved it. When High Fructose Corn Syrup was introduced, it became syrupy sweet, and they reduced the carbonation. That would be a change in formula IMHO.

Canada Dry Bold is really good. When I was a kid there was a local ginger ale called Chelmsford Golden Ginger Ale, owned by Canada Dry, but they stopped making it. I loved it. Bold tastes pretty close to Chelmsford, but a little spicier.

Fanta is also a very popular drink in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. It wasn't uncommon to see people only ordering Fanta when they would go to a restaurant, and that was the only thing I ever drank in the two years I lived there for.

This is your best video ever. Back in 1962 my mother bought a six pack of Dr Pepper on sale at the food store my mother never bought soda. She put the six pack on the table she said you can get yourself some ice and have one of these I was about six years old. I had my first Dr Pepper and I have never been on crack cocaine but it hit me hard and I have been a Dr Pepper drinker my entire life. People know me as a Dr Pepper drinker and always have it available when I come over to their house or go to a special work project. It’s wonderful it’s fantastic and if you haven’t had Dr Pepper with fried eggs in them morning with your breakfast you’re really missing out. I can’t say enough good about Dr. pepper. Don’t try to give me any Mr. Pibb :-) thank you Dr. Pepper you have been such an important part of my wife. That’s a fat sad thing to say about soda but in this case it’s reality Siri Siri put in wife instead of life of course

Hey there, BabbleTop!!! I'm surprised that you didn't throw in a clip of the Orange Crush video from R.E.M. (Thinking about that brings back memories. I have a friend who looks exactly like Michael Stipe!) I always liked the Orange Crush drink. 7-up was what my parents would give me if I had an upset stomach. Still, that doesn't stop me from buying some once in a while, as I still like it. It's scary to think how much Mountain Dew I've consumed in my lifetime. As a teenager, I always got 8-packs of 16oz recyclable glass bottles of caffeine free Mountain Dew. As an adult I ended up drinking the regular MD from the pop machines in offices where I worked--and a lot of it. I would even get caffeine withdrawal headaches by the time Sunday evening came around. I actually loved Mello Yello before I had ever tried MD. I didn't know that Sprite was so popular in Brazil. My favorite drink from Brazil is called Guarana Antarctica, which has a unique flavor. Can't remember where I bought it, but the place where I think I got it is gone now. Grape is my favorite Fanta flavor. One time I rode my motorcycle for over an hour in 34 degree summer heat and humidity. I rode up to a mountain that overlooks the ocean and there was a temple there with a pop machine. I got a Fanta Grape and you can't imagine how perfect that was for the situation. Orangine is mentioned here as a Barq's product. It's interesting that I've tried "Orangina" orange soda that comes in a thick plastic bottle with millions of little dimples in it to resemble an orange peel. (Don't know if this is a Barq's product or not. I'll look for it next time at the supermarket and see who makes it.) Pepsi/Coke/RC Cola: I like all three and didn't like when Coke Classic came out because the HFCS ruined it. I liked New Coke and would occasionally get that even into the '90s. I sort-of preferred RC Cola as a teenager, y'know -- just to "be different". (I still prefer Pepsi to Coke and the reason why is probably the stupidest reason you've ever heard. Coke's packaging is predominantly red, like China's flag, and Pepsi's is red white and blue like both USA's and Taiwan's flags--the two countries where I've spent roughly both halves of my life.) Canada Dry is always good, and I'm so glad that Dr. Pepper tops the list. It is truly great. Just like the whole "Mello Yello came before Mountain Dew" for me situation, I fell in love with Mr. Pibb first. I would buy glass bottles from an old Coke machine that had the tall narrow glass door and the bottles could be released after putting money in it. There was a recessed hole in the front of the machine with a bottle opener and the cap would simply drop down inside the machine into a receptacle. Neat design! Great video, BabbleTop! My favorites are: MtnD/Mello Yello, Dr. P/Mr. Pibb, pre-Classic Coke, New Coke, Pepsi, RC, any vanilla cream soda, and the top of my list is Hawaiian Punch! Sprite > 7up/Mountain Dew A&W > Barqs Pepsi > Coke (although it's very close and I like both) Canada Dry = best ginger ale Dr. Pepper = tastes like carbonated 'Robitussin' cough medicine - ugh, gross. *Grossly underrated and not mentioned: IBC Cream Soda = best cream soda - tastes like sweet carbonated homemade vanilla ice cream, absolutely delicious! The Crush recipe in the US is vastly different from the rest of the world. Ours is the only one that uses corn syrup and replaces the fruit juice with chemical flavorings.

Barq's got it's start in New Orleans in the late 1890s. then moved to Biloxi, MS in 1910 and operated there until Coca-Cola bought them in then late 70s. You grew up on Barq's if you lived in Mississippi...

I had grand uncles (my Grandma’s (Mom’s Mom) brothers) who worked for both Pepsi & Coca Cola… With that said, my Mom said that when she was growing up, they (she & my uncle & their cousins) were NOT allowed to drink Coke (only Pepsi) & when my Grand Uncle who worked for Coca Cola, when the formula was changed, he (my Grand Uncle) said that it tasted like “Fly Spray” & once the formula was changed back to the Classic formula, it tasted A LOT better I prefer to drink water most of the time but when I’m in the mood for soda, my preference is Dr. Pepper (but will drink both Coke or Pepsi, if Dr. Pepper is not available) or Canada Dry Ginger Ale (when under the weather) & I prefer 7Up to Sprite (unless Sprite is the only option available), example at McDonald’s Sprite is the only thing available (no 7Up) Pepsi & Coca Cola do NOTHING for me (caffeine wise), for that reason, I only drink Dr. Pepper (if I need a caffeine boost) 😂

My Top 10 Favorite Sodas. Honorable Mention:Ginger Ale - It would've made the list if it wasn't for the Seagram's Ginger Ale. 10:Sierra Mist - I like the taste of Lemon-Lime drinks. This is Pepsi's version of Sprite, although it isn't as good as normal Sprite. 9:Grape Crush - There are many types of Crush made and Grape flavor is the favorite. Any grape flavored soda is nice. 8:Barq's Root Beer - Barq's Root Beer won't be the last caffeine soda on my list, but I loved the Barq's flavor of Root Beer. 7:Mountain Dew - Speaking on the devil, owned by Pepsi since the 1960s, the moonshine drink is always refreshing to have in a while. 6:7-Up - The Lithiated soda was always a nice drink to have, although the mood-refreshment Lithium was removed in 1948, the Lemon-Lime drink, also known the "UnCola" drink, its always nice to have it once in a while. 5:Sprite - This drink just barely beats 7-Up, but I drink it to "Obey My Thrist". 4:A&W Root Beer - If you ask me which version of Root Beer is the best, I'd say A&W, because of the phenomenal taste. 3:Dr. Pepper - A soda with 23 flavors would be nice, and it is. And for being the oldest soda company in America, its worth it. 2:Coca-Cola - The best selling soda is definitely A soda that's near the top. The Cork ripoff of Dr. Pepper, we should say away from Mr. Pibb. Coke always has the nice cherry taste in it, so yeah. 1:Pepsi - If I had to choose between Coke and Pepsi, I would choose the Pepsi-Cola. Pepsi was one of the first sodas I ever tried and I still love and the taste.

Believe it or not. There was a better ginger ale drink than Canada Dry... It was called Saguenay Dry. Originally from Saguenay region (Quebec, Canada) this drink was superior in everything compared to Canada Dry. Canada Dry felt like an inferior brand. Unfortunately, the product is no longer produced because the factory was bought and the product line was ended.

2 things to know. Canada dry was actually dry. A dry powder mix originally. Canada sadly has Barq's caffeine free. Canada has had Crush as long as I can remember. (80's) I loved the cream soda. Bright pink. Orange and grape. They did add lime a couple decades back. Seen their pineapple in slurpee mixes at 7-11 a few years back. Now the tragedy is though we have Dr Pepper, Diet Dr Pepper and Cherry Dr Pepper the diet Cherry Dr Pepper is no where to be found. I need a supplier. Anyone south of the 52nd hook up a Canuck with some of that sweet ambrosia? 😏🤤
