My favorite sports movie isn't even in English. It's "Das Wunder von Bern," (The Miracle of Bern), about Germany's upset win at the 1954 World Cup. The greatest sports movie of all time in terms of artistic achievement is "Raging Bull," and its failure to win the Oscar for "best picture" is an eternal blight on the reputation of the Oscars.

@@patrickc3419 Yeah, 61* was actually pretty good. I'd never thought much about the toll it took on Roger Maris. One that I think didn't get enough attention was 'Rush. Terrific acting. It really showed off what a great actor Hemsworth is. Top to bottom well acted, wonderfully scripted, first rate. I love F1 and remember the Lauda crash, horrifying.

The greatest sports movie is "Das Wunder von Bern" (The Miracle of Bern). The second greatest is "Moneyball." In third is "Rush," the story of Nikki Lauda and James Hunt. In fourth is "Cinderella Man," which lost a few points for its unfair protrayal of Max Baer as a cartoon villain. And in fifth is the delicious corn on the cob "Hoosiers."

Top 10 & all American........................Really?? Another case of Americans demonstrating they believe they are the only ones in the world. Don't get me wrong I love some of the movies from the USA and would have had "Cinderella Man' and 'The Natural' on the list but what about non-American movies like "Chariots of Fire, Invictus, etc. The Brits, Aussies, Canadians, Kiwis, South Africans, etc. are sports nuts as well but follow Rugby Union, Rugby League, Football (Soccer), Cricket, Tennis, Golf, Aussie Rules, etc. I totally appreciate American sports and have been a Buffalo Bills fan for 50 years but I appreciate all sports. Cannot fathom though if the USA is the only one playing, how can you call your winning teams "world champions" as you do in the NFL and MLB. In Baseball, you don't even play Japan, Cuba, etc. who in my view would give you a run for your money. Please realise this is not anti-American as I love the USA and the world needs you but come on there is a world outside the USA. Enough said!
