I don't think any fan of any other club will ever realise how much Steven Gerrard means to the Liverpool fan Base. He stuck with Liverpool never winning a league title and for that I can commend him. He gave his heart and soul for the club, when realistically a move to another club would of probably gave him a better career in terms of winning trophies. He gave the fans some amazing memories! Anyone who doesn't realise what a phenomenal player he was is purely ignorant. Good luck in life after football Gerrard. Captain

after i read this i actually do some research on that particular year there is actually 2 different Ballon D'Or one is "FIFA World Player of the Year" and the other one was "France Football's Ballon D'Or" (often dubbed as European Footballer of the Year" then in 2010 the two award merge to become only one award which is "FIFA Ballon D'Or" as we know today. Gerrard got 3rd place in "France Football's Ballon D'Or" in 2005..guess his European football performance got him the 3rd place but i agree he deserve the gold

Being 31 I remember his debut and that goal line clearance against Everton shortly after. I was there for that screamer past Barthez.
