Stop motion's the best. Along with traditional 2d animation it's a dying art, but unlike CGI it's actually not that expensive. It takes time and editing, yes, but you can pretty much do stop motion with whatever you have lying around your house. A cup suddenly becomes a lively container strutting his stuff along the countertop. Bits of clay come alive to create shapes and strange creatures. Wire when combined with bits of wood and maybe some clothing suddenly becomes a knight in shining armor. Seriously, more movies need to use this.
@ryanbeet92179 жыл бұрын
I'm suprised stop motion is cheaper than cgi I thought the reason why stop motion is becoming a bit lost is because it's too expensive
@kerianhalcyon27699 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it is so easy to get into stop motion. You can build wire frames alone using hardware store items. While ball-and-socket skeletons are more expensive they can last you for much longer than wireframes and are reusable. Literally the only difference between the two is time and space; it can take hours to make a scene that lasts half a minute, and if you need to reshoot you usually have to start over again from scratch. But digital can have that just as bad; I've had to sit for hours waiting for a scene to render only for it to get corrupted and literally have to start over at the beginning again. In any case, stop motion is probably the easiest form of animation to get started in if you're on a tight budget.

My List: 10. Chicken Run (Yes I would watch this movie including The Nightmare Before Christmas like EVERY SINGLE DAY when I was 6-7, now I'm 14 and I still love The Nightmare Before Christmas) 9.ParaNorman (It was ok, but could have used a little more plot to it :3) 8.Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer (It is very adorable, but I did have nightmares of that Yeti...) 7. Wallace And Gromit (Omfg I loved these series when I was little and would watch them a lot, then I would crave for Jelly On Toast xD) 6. Fantastic Mr. Fox ( The movie was great, but I really wasn't interested in it all that much, still a great movie!) 5. James And The Giant Peach(This movie creeped me out a bit too, but I loved it because it had Jack in it, and yes I was a big Jack Skellington fangirl when I was little, and I still am!) 4. Coraline ( When we bought the CD and brought home, me and my nephew were sitting in the dark getting ready for the movie. After the movie ended we were crying to our mothers to come with us in the rooms to turn on the lights because we were frightened!) 3. Frankenweenie (The emotions and stories and characters...and well just EVERYTHING was adorable) 2. Corpse Bride (The animation was perfect! Along with the voices and songs!) Ok everyone my number one... Drum roll please? 1. The Nightmare Before Christmas!!!!!!! The animation is quite clear And the music flings into your ear The characters have great personality And how Oogie Boogie had fatality Let me just convince you For the writers were too awesome They made a possum faint And covered the movie with musical paint This is by far the greatest Stop-Motion That your heart will be filled with The Nightmare Before Christmas fan potion (Idk I came up with this poem just now LOL) Anyways, this movie has been part of my childhood for over 7 years. The songs and characters were written well! I was such a young fan my mom got me a iPod with the songs and I would always walk around a Yarn Store singing Jack's Lament and What's This? so much. I would draw Jack and Zero on the Spiral Hill. In 4th Grade I got a 4 1/2 feet tall Jack Skellington doll for my birthday and I was so happy. Anytime we went to Disneyland, we HAD to go on The Haunted Mansion, because Jack and the gang would be there. I was once Sally for Halloween and I helped my mother sew the dress and design it. :3 My art is a lot greater now than what it used to be, that I am taking a animation class in Fullerton College right now. So I am kind of a Tim Burton fan. My favorite Tim Burton movies are of course The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, and Corpse Bride. Edward Scissorhands and Jack Skellington describe my personality a lot. I have a lot of Jack in me because of my curiosity, enthusiastic character, creative, and I am a leader of my friends (they take my advice and listen to me), while I am Edward Scissorhands, I am very quiet, and I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, and I am still learning things that I have not felt yet. So that's my list, hope you agree with some of it! :3

Coralline is LITERALLY my favorite film of all time. I absolutely adore stop motion of any kind. Wallace and Grommit, Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach... They would all be in my top 10 favorite film list. But Coralline takes the god dang cake. Beautiful animation, really awesome and memorable characters, colorful and dream-like environments, and such palpable senses of uneasiness in the beginning and a mix of utter terror and urgency towards the end, all brought together by a relatable protagonist and a meaningful underlying message really make Coralline one of the best films of all time in my opinion. Not to mention the fact that it's directed by my favorite director and the first time I saw it was at an actual cinema and not on DVD. P.S. Anyone remember the slug scene? I almost died laughing when I saw that when I was little and it still cracks me up to this day.

I used to watch it literally EVERY DAY without getting sick of it for 2 months a year. I tell ya, it is my favorite movie ever. It mixes beautiful animation, great music ( I myself am a huge fan of the classic musical genre of movies) and the question that has always crossed our heads.... What happens when two holidays become one? Jack is such an adorable character too. He is a gentlemen, and is in good control, but in the same time he has the cute little glimmer of child like behavior and curiosity like a little puppy.
@Bitsy839 жыл бұрын
Pinkie CupcakePie Oh, Jack rocks on so many levels. Not to sound like a hipster, but I loved Jack BEFORE Hot Topic made him their poster boy. I'm glad to see he's gotten more of a fan base over the years. You go to Disney World and you can turn a corner without finding his face on something or other. I love how charming and debonaire he is. Best thing about him is that, despite his mistakes, he believes taking responsibility for his actions. I know this would've ruined the franchise, but I couldn't help but wonder if a sequel would be possible. Not necessarily with Jack taking over another holiday, but what if something like the Krampus were to discover Halloween? (Google him if you don't know what I'm talking about...)

+B-Dog Alexander It is an incredibly sinister and disturbing tale when you think about it. A faux world made to entice and trap you, pretend mothers and fathers who want to take your eyeballs out and sew buttons into your eyesockets in place, seemingly innocent looking dolls that act as the beldam's eyes into your world as she spies on you, very very creepy.

I personally love ParaNorman the most because of it's technical advancements in stop motion and great message. It is so smoothly animated, and never jerky which is kind of an appeal to stop motion, but I prefer the smoother motions. It also has a very enthralling story. I also enjoy Coraline because of it's beautiful art direction, colorful cast, and terrifying atmosphere. I'm not really a fan of Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromet's art styles but I can see how they are enjoyable to some. Also the art direction and animation of Fantastic Mr.Fox put me off originally but it was an enjoyable movie. Overall, I just can't get over Coraline's opening scene, it's amazing! But I just really like Laika. I wonder where Boxtrolls and Kubo (when it comes out) would fall on this list?

My list: 1. Coraline 2. The Nightmare before Christmas 3. Chicken Run 4. Corpse Bride 5. Paranorman 6. James and the giant peach 7. Wallace and Gromit the curse of the Were-rabbit 8. Frankenweenie 9. Shaun the sheep movie 10. Boxtrolls/Kubo and the two strings. (p.s I haven't seen either of the last two)

If you haven’t seen boxtrolls yet, please do. It’s definitely one of the best stop-motion films of all time and it’s on par with Coraline and nightmare before Christmas.

coraline isn't just one of the best stopmotion movies but one of the best movies. It's voice acting, the plot, the visuals and it's gorgeous masterpiece of a soundtrack. The soundtrack is stunning, it's so dreamy! And I loved how creepy it is and that's probably why it beats the nightmare before christmas!!
