Top 10 Strongest Waterbenders in Avatar

After seeing all the commentaries I have to remind you all of something. We haven't seen Katara in her prime. We don't know how much powerful she grew after TLA. All we know is that she was the most powerful waterbender in TLA and she was during that time 14. In LOK she is 70 years older and all we know about her abilities is that she is the best healer in the world. And after all that things we've seen in both series and in the comics there is no sign she could defeat Amon who is the most powerful non avatar character in the whole franchise. Katara can also use Bloodbending but only during full moon and she never learned how to use it otherwise. Also she can't take the bending from other people like amon and in a fight between those two amon could defeat her. And Yakone could bloodbend a whole room with powerful characters like prime Aang, prime Toph and her Metalbenders only with his mind and Prime Aang only defeated him in the Avatar State. In addition Tarrlok defeated with his Bloodbending characters like Tenzin, Lin Beifong, Mako, Bolin and the council members in few seconds. Also I have to say that most people her don't seem to have watched LOK, because they would know those things. My list is not perfect but you Katara fanboys and girls have to accept that after all that we have seen from her she can't defeat Amon and Yakone. Maybe Tarrlok but I don't think she would win.

You could use logic to surmise that katara is the most powerful water bender. First, the only reason katara hasn't been seen with the ability to use bloodbending without a full moon is that she swore against using it. Also if she'd confront amon she would most likely take the win because we've seen katara resist and learn AND overpower the original creator of blood bending, Hama, in a span of minutes, so who's to say she couldn't at least resist Amon's bloodbending when we have seen her resist bloodbending in general, Also being the best healer basically means you're gonna be among the best waterbenders ever. Now a point that I wanna stress is that it doesn't take someone with talent to use bloodbending without the full moon, look at tarlok, so katara would be able to do so if she tried seeing how much more powerful she is than tarlok. So your argument is loose, and I know what you will say, and that is that this is all speculation, but like I said it's logical thinking and even if you remove her learning bloodbending without the full moon she still could resist Amon's grip, after that it'll turn into a battle of base water bending and I would take katara's base water bending over any other bender. Also, Katara is the only Waterbender ever to have mastered all 3 styles of waterbending, southern, northern, and swamp. So that should count in on how powerful she is

Korra hasn't mastered the southern style but has mastered northern ( she mastered healing, but hasn't learned bloodbending or the ability to pull water out of organisms). And katara did master all three including swamp style as shown in the comics when she plant bent.

Celine Ida Schou In the episode, “the southern raiders” it showed to full moon when she blood bended the person she thought was the person who killed her mother. But we still don’t know if she can blood bend without the full moon. She wasn’t in her prime so there is a chance that she could’ve learned how to when she was an adult

@Celine Ida Schou I don't think you understand how canon works. Zutara isn't canon Kataang is. Zutara is only your heacanon, not the confirmed canon in the story. In canon you are only allowed to discuss things that are shown, Katara hasn't shown the ability to bloodbend without the fullmoon therefore in canon she can't bloodbend, there is still a possibility that she can but you still can't say that she can before she has showned it therefore non-canon. If you think she can, that is just your headcanon, but not the real canon that only allows shown abilities. Your logic is basically that only because Aang hasn't shown that he can split the universe in second doesn't mean he can't. If I believe Aang could do that, it would be my headcanon but not the real canon, because he hasn't shown that ability of power. And if you don't like that fine, but that's how it works and you can't change the rules of canon in arguments.

Just because someone has more experience over blood bending doesn't mean they're stronger, katara should be first, because we've seen her resist and learn and overpower the original creator of blood bending, Hama, in a span of minutes, she just swore against it. (because she'd be too OP :p) And saying that tarlok is more powerful than her is a spit on katara's legacy being the most powerful healer. Also let's not forget that katara is the only water bender we've seen to master all 3 styles of waterbending; Swamp, southern, and northern styles. So DUH

Katara didn't really learn the Southern Style. The scroll was Northern. She *was* the Southern Style. I also almost guarantee she'd have been able to stop Yakone if she were in the court room on that day. She already overpowered bloodbending once, and it seems to be implied that bloodbending at times other than a full moon is the next logical skill level, so for Katara to overpower his (probably spread thin) bloodbending seems possible.

I would say that Sifu Atuat had the most powerful waterbender. She took several months to heal Hei-Ran when she had been poisoned while Katara took several years to heal Korra even though the poison was removed almost immediately after. Sifu Atuat grew up when girls couldn't learn combat waterbending. But her waterbending was more powerful than Katara's.

Katherine Liu to be clear, it took Katara several years because Korra wasn’t suffering of physical trama but rather a mental block. Also don’t forget that Katara was able to bring back aang to life using the spirit water, and then continue to heal him from that point.

@@atomosa7664 In Katara bringing back Jet's memories, it is proven that water can also heal the mind. Also, spirit water has many special properties and I would argue that aang is just weak not that Katara was an especially good healer. Kyoshi resisted 5 lightning blasts outside of the avatar state and still didn't pass out until after she had killed the man and came out of the avatar state. And even then, she was able to be healed by a non waterbender that only had acess to regular medicine and not some special spirit water taken from the pool that had the spirit of the moon and ocean in it. Korra also had most of poison removed almost immediately after it had been put inside her body. Her avatar state was also very buffed because Vaatu was defeated and that is why I think she survived. Regardless of Korra's mental block, katara would've been able to heal her if her waterbending was anywhere near as powerful as Sifu Atuats. Who healed Hei-Ran despite getting to her probably weeks after the poison was in her body although I acknowledge that she was much stronger mentally than korra, Sifu atuat still was able to have her up and walking in what I argue the time it took korra to move a toe.

Katara was able to defeat hamma and Kya was taught by katara so I think Kya definitely ranks higher then hamma, anyways without using special abilities such as blood bending or the avatar state katara would've wiped the floor with tarrlok, amon and yakone. Ming hua doesnt even have arms and is a extremely proficient bender, so she probably places second and lets not forget how strong eska and desna are together. 1.) Removing one's bending is smart and powerful but the bloodbending capabilities of Yakone show much more than that of amon.

Id say Yakone in terms of overall power. And Katara for mastery. If it was a strict just water match up, Katara is OP as hell. Yakone was way stronger than Amon in terms of bloodbending. He took control of an entire courtroom and a fully realized Avatar. Not saying Amon isnt powerful though. Katara is the strongest and most skilled in terms of straight water bending.
