The reason why Sunset Shimmer is such a great character is because she's so different from what we're used to expect from a mlp character, her redemption was also long and she struggled with it. Your average mlp redemption goes: evil deed - magic of friendship - forgiveness - friends with the town and the mane 6. Well, Sunset's doesn't really go that way. Despite being forgiven by the mane 6, the school doesn't, and with good reason too, Sunset is actively working to pay off her wrong doings (which were many considering she controlled the school way before the events of EQG) she also struggles with her current friendships with the mane 6 since they've been friends since very little and have all been hurt by Sunset Shimmer's past doings. Rainbow Rocks was all about Sunset Shimmer working to earn her forgiveness, and when she does is a payoff that lasts all the movies after that, because forgiveness doesn't mean that the past never happened, just that you've earned yourself a better future. edit: also the fact that she's not all smiles sunshine and rainbows after her redemption, she's still herself and we love her for that

Watching Sunset's progress throughout the series since her defeat just makes everything worthwhile. She'd changed a lot since the first movie, and even if it was hard for her to get along with everyone at first, she was able to pull through and make amends. And let me tell you, her singing voice is INCREDIBLE!! Let it Rain was one of my absolute favorite songs from her, because it shows that when things get hard, it can get better with time, like how Sunset, after suffering that defeat, was struggling to earn everyone's trust until she helped defeat the Sirens. Sunset is a truly great character, and her character evolution just makes her even better. ❤️🧡💛

Every moment since her defeat in the first movie has been the best. She just makes me smile and fills me with hope. I loved most of all when Sunset returns through the portal to get help from Twilight and tries to hug her, not only was it full circle, but how happy she was to see Princess Twilight shows how high she holds Twilight as a friend. Daydream Shimmer was her best hero moment.

Sunset Shimmer is the natural leader of the Mane 7 since Pony Twilight Sparkle returned to Equestria. My favorite moment of Sunset Shimmer is that she forgave Wallflower Blush although she almost destroyed Sunset Shimmer's life by erasing the good memories of the girls which founded their friendship. The moment that she presented the yearbook with Wallflower in it was very touching. Also when Sunset Shimmer reconciled with Princess Celestia in Equestria was imho an awesome and fantastic moment. My other favorite Shimmer moments are the songs You're never gonna bring me down and the Monday Blues video. Finally the moment when she mentored Starlight Glimmer when she entered the human world is also very awesome. In all, Sunset Shimmer is my favorite MLPEG character.

I've had a strange sense of pull toward Sunset when I pretty much ignored the Equestria Girls before her. I was never entirely sure why. Sure she is pretty, but I felt there was something that made me want to understand this girl and now I see why. She's kind of like Riku in a sense, a troubled girl with a kind, caring, loyal heart once she finds the good in her heart, her light. From what I understand she made many mistakes and it cost her a lot in both friendships and how she views herself, but I am happy to see she eventually found her way to being good and help her friends. Sunset Shimmer is a true redemption story that I truly am happy to see. How will her story play out in the future...I don't know yet, but I do admit I hope for the best in finding out.
