That's just how Surf fishing goes at times. I'm a High Tide surf fisherman, but i will fish the low tides also. Like they say, A bad day of fishing beats the heck out of a good day at work any ol' time catching em or not, you just can't be in a better place and the scenery is God's gift to us and we should thank him for it and please pick up your trash and put them in the trash cans located most of the time as you come in to go on to the beach. Thanks guy for your tips that will help mostly beginners who really don't know or could be using the wrong baits or let's just say equipment. 😊

I'm heading to OBX later this year and it'll be my first time surf fishing myself, I've seen some people use hi-low rigs, some use a fish finder rig. What would you say works best? As well, I've been trying to find info on what the preferred line type is, I would assume braided with a flouro leader, but I couldn't find anything specific. This video will definitely be a useful reference while I'm out but I wanted to pick some more vetted anglers brains on this matter.

@@noahlogan4436 double drop rigs with shrimp work well for a number of fish including whiting, pompano, black drum. I like Carolina rigs with live minnows for larger species like blues, Spanish, reds. Mono line works fine and it’s cheap. And then you don’t need Fluor. Unlike Florida, our water is too muddy to make a difference

We took our boat down 7/2. Was gonna troll, but it was too windy and choppy. Stayed around Dutchman creek. Caught several croakers and one shark. Tried to use your method of putting our bait to the off side of creeks on a falling tide. As I said, we caught croakers but no black drum. We'll give it another shot next time we come down. Thanks for the vids!🤘🏻

Great info for any fisherman, can't wait to see what you do with the salt water streamers on your fly rod, I've had lots of luck over the years in the water ways with my fly rod..thanks for what you do

Thanks I’m excited to try them out. Probably be later towards the fall if I can toss them towards some drum, blues, or trout.

We down here at 64th St. Today... plenty of sharks and croakers. Storm yesterday really helped bring the water temp down.

I find once I get into a school of croaker, I might as well leave. Seems like once they start they just keep coming.

Me and the family just came down to OKI and i was wondering if you could tell me the best bait shop for live shrimp i haven't had luck. Also if you had any good public spots besides in the surf. Any advice would be appreciated! Love the content!
@SandsintheSurf4 ай бұрын
@@jaydnloving5884 Clems usually has live shrimp. Dutchman’s Creek also has live bait. Usually fiddlers, shrimp and minnow but it’s best to call and check cause they can sell out quickly. I like the Southport Pier. It’s free and there is lots of structure. I don’t like too many of the public spots on OKI like Veterans Park for example cause all I ever catch is croaker. There is a dock at 6th street west, Davis Canal, that I like at high tide.

Which are the best beach accesses for fishing around mid August?

The structure is always changing due to the weather so it’s hard to say. However, I do like the surf up around 70th street.

Hi Ian, you mentioned Drones are illegal? I can’t find any reference to that on NC Wildlife web page
@SandsintheSurf4 ай бұрын
There was a post they put out on Facebook last year. Basically you’re not allowed to hunt of fish using a drone. I don’t consider dropping bait fishing but apparently NC does.

If you’ve never fished the Southport pier, you might want to check it out. It’s free and there is lots of structure around it. That area is particularly good for flounder

Just don't cast out too far on tge east side of the pier. A really big snag there. Probably part of the old skip cannon battery position. @SandsintheSurf
