I have so much costume jewelry, scarves given to me as gifts.... Several years ago I started carrying small mesh gift bags in my purse.. If I am out and about and someone compliments an item such the necklace or bracelet that I am wearing....I literally take it off, place it in the gift bag and give it to them! You will not believe the responses from complete strangers... You will brighten someone's day and the item will never be missed!!

Having just lost my Mum I have been left with the task of clearing out all her things. Massive amount of stuff! Heartbroken to see all the things that she never wore - many of which are new. Great tips thank you. I got so sick of having a drawer full of uncomfortable knickers and bras a bout 10 years ago hat I resolved then to never again purchase any others than my favourite two brands (Berlei t- shirt bra and Jockey Parisienne knickers). Fortunately, they are constantly updating the collection with new fabrics and colours so I can always buy some new undies and not feel like I can't treat myself. It is SO liberating and cost effective and time efficient, I highly recommend it.

Another suggestion for sentimental items is to photograph them and make a little keepsake album, digital or hardcopy. Then you can discard or give the items away but still have a remembrance of them.

9: clothes that no longer fit you I did gain weight about a year ago and I gave away most of my bottoms like jeans skirts trousers since I went from a size 36 to 38/40 European size. A year later i lost all the weight unintentionally and guess what I regretted giving all my old pieces away, including some favorites and I had to go and buy new ones and spend even more money on things I initially had... So if your weight is unstable like mine I wouldn't recommend Tip Number 9 . Bad idea

Yes that's a very good point. I definitely wouldn't be giving items away if my weight was fluctuating but I would remove those that didn't currently fit and store them under the bed or out of sight to avoid confusion. :)

I totally agree with editing your underwear drawer, regularly! Regularly getting a professional bra fitting, and then purchasing correct bras that suit your body shape and lifestyle, helps to keep that under control!

I've met so many people in various walks of life with the most minimal wardrobe. - My partner has 2 white polo shirts of the same style, he doesn't care. He would wash it at night, and it's ready the next day. The other one is just in case the other one doesn't dry. Honestly, he has a strong personality, no one would forget him 😂 - I have a dear friend who has a plethora(!) of statement earrings. But hey, that takes up much less space (one drawer) but she wears the same black v neck shirt. - had a client who also always wore the same orange jeans, but he could (and did) easily throw $500 on anything. It's thought provoking; and definitely wonder why we put so much sentiment and value on clothing. I personally have a hard time letting go, because I'm so petite; and I get bored often, but I could certainly keep decluttering.

Okay, so i already have used socks around beverage holders that "sweat" because they have ice inside. What i saw the other day is a step up for Christmas, you decorate the sock, bottom is cut off, decorate with a snowman or whatever and put it on a plain mug as a gift. After the holidays, u can remove the decoration and use the rest of the year.

To be honest I didn't know what happended, I usually donate to Good Will, but I have a few things that are way to old and last night I was googling what to do with really old clothes. And then I read about the landfills and I was shocked!!!! 😲 also the crisis this cause on 3rd world countries. And how you could be causing more harm to the earth if you put clothes in landfills. That;s the best way to do it. Buy clothes in the off season, it's cheaper that way and less stressful because you dont need them asap.

I have found out the hard way to not buy clothes at end of season sales because when the time comes to wear them they get cast aside for more updated season clothes. My motto is buy quality not trendy items, then you will buy less.

I'm a gym rat so I DO wear all of them, and I live in a place that gets super hot in summer, cold/snowy in winter. So I definitely own well over 5 activewear bottoms. I dont know about the rest of you but I've never invested in so many nice loungewear pieces as during the last 18 months. I've generally kept my dpending down but nice loungewear outfits have made themselves a nessecity. No more washed out anything! Almost a second wardrobe to be honest.
