Britney deserves more than an HM. She opened that set in a cage with a live tiger, and while it may not have been her best/heaviest choreographed performance, the moves were fitting with the animalistic nature of the song, she looked smokin hot in that outfit, and that snake was not only alive (we all know that) but he's a literal beast! Weighed atleast 25lbs, and moved. I'd say the only downsides to that performance were that we lost a lot of Britney Time when she was going to get the snake, and the tan and bedazzled boots/leg warmers that she wore were oddly distracting.

I really thought that one on the building outside was going to be the one they talked about. Honestly, I've never even heard of the one that made the list. She's still amazing in everything she does though; I was absolutely hypnotized just now watching those clips of her and the guy dancing. The things she can do with her body are insane. Dancing is a skill in itself, but P!nk absolutely PREFORMS.

I have only bad memories from Pink's performance of Glitter In the Air at the Grammys. It was a beautiful performance, but I was dealing with horrible kidney stone pain (didn't know it was a kidney stone at the time) that was making me sick where I couldn't enjoy the performance when it aired. I went to the ER after the Grammys ended and got a morphine shot and then had to wait another 4 days before I had that thing blasted apart.

Gaga’s Paparazzi performance was not only iconic because of the message, the drama, the shock…. All of that was amazing. But she also sang the harmony on her own song, instead of the melody. And I love that about her. I think most singers prefer singing harmony, it’s more fun. But it’s a *BOLD* choice for a live solo performance.

Too many from MTV and music awards. I'd have put no 5 as no 1 and nph did several numbers at Oscars and Tony's that were also good. In the 80s Jason Alexander also did a good routine during Oscars singing songs like Maude and cheers in a medley and there was a routine with the children of Oscar winners singing about there ambitions that was good too.

At that very moment, she was the last person a person would think of because of the tragedy. But Britney was on another level of fame, she surpassed the 9/11 headline with her controversy. She became the headline herself because of the snake performance. She made VMA seems so important because of her performances. Now she's gone, VMA is nothing. People don't care about VMAs. Lady Gaga was the last person who made VMA relevant. No one could ever have that amount of fame besides Britney.

Since then Madonna has been the talk of the town whenever she showed up at VMA's. And as her "Vogue" performance, dude, she literally put gays upfront in 1990 alongside with her when stigma of being gay was just on an insane level. Nowadays of course it doesnt look like she did something extraordinary, but it's all because we have Drag Race now, we have gay/trans/non binary pop stars. Back then everything was very different, and the way Madonna just put on a Drag performance when GP was scared of just gay and flamboyant people - that's what I call Iconic. I like Britney, seen her live 2 times, but saying her performance is better than all combined here - let's not be delusional.

How in the world would Céline be an honorable mention on ANY list? She tops a majority of the people on this list in how much of a legend she is! And the image of Brittany with the yellow boa is one of THE most iconic things people think of when they think of pop music.
