I don’t know if the episode aired prior to the creation of this list, but Charlie’s breakdown to his father’s corpse in “The Gang Carries a Corpse Up a Mountain” might honestly top Mac’s dance through sheer dramatic weight alone. It’s the first time you are forced to view the circumstances of Charlie’s life in a serious light, beyond a simple comedic lens. Everything he’s ever been through: his troubled home life, his sexual abuse by his uncle, his clear developmental disability, unhealthy relationships and romantic views, and his overall maladjustment to life in general - all of that might have been lessened if only he had his dad physically in his life, but instead Charlie is left wailing over his father’s absence in his life, screaming out how much he needed him, and about all the things he never did for him. That scene still reduces me to tears every time I watch it.

Mac is the “Night Man” who comes into Charlie’s room at night Frank playing a troll tells Mac he has to pay the “Troll toll to get into that boy’s hole.”

Mac’s dance will always remain the most sensitive moment to me of that entire series. While most of the gang was already tied to frank’s patriarchal role in a familial way, that moment symbolized the instance frank became the father to Mac that he never had.

1. Because it only aired on FX and now only airs on FXX. It's not even on any streaming service I don't think. 2. Because it's got a complicated back story 3. Because at first the characters all just come across as purely unlikeable sociopathic assholes 4. Because even once you get to know them the characters are not really that likeable 5. Because the characters likely remind people of assholes they know in real life 5. Because some people are likely turned off by the characters constant attempts to cheat and manipulate others While I personally think it's a good show, I can understand why others dislike it

I love when irreverent and absurdist series take a second to be human. One of my favorite moments is in Arrested Development. When George Michael learns his father has been reluctant to date new women because he didn't want his son to think he was trying to replace his late mother, he goes straight to his father to assure him "if you ever want to date anyone else, you don't have to worry about me. I'm fine with that."

In the South Park episode Jewpachabra, Kyle simply cannot sleep knowing Cartman is in danger and suffering out in the cold. He ventures out in the middle of the night to bring the delirious Cartman back to his bed. Tender music plays throughout. There is no punchline, just Kyle's decency and kindness. May this year be one of improvement for all of us, personally and societally.

mac finds his pride was a deviation from regular sunny as takes one side of the argument and sticks with it to validate the point of pro gay acceptance. Usually both sides have an out come, but this episode seemingly sways toward a favorable few on the topic. Also the characters usually don’t learn a lesson but Frank by contrast learned to deal with mac’s homosexuality making it break the chain of the character(s) not learning a lesson.

Its always been one of my favorite things about this show, the way the gang take different sides of real world problems, and then takes those sides to the extreme. It shows how stupid some people can be when they take anything too far, dont understand whats really happening, or just plain out wrong about things and refusing to admit it. The gun episode was one of the best in my opinion because they showed both sides of the argument equally. Dennis and Dee are anti-gun and set out to prove that they're too easy to obtain, yet by the end they a) couldn't get their hands on a gun no matter what and b) think everyone should always carry one for protection. Charlie and Mac are pro- gun at first, yet by the end think they're way too dangerous and should be banned. It would've been so easy to take a side, but by the end no political point is ever settled on, and both pro- and anti- arguments are made.
