Hi Chez, love your vids. great tips, funny and just a pleasure to listen to. I so agree with what you said about covering your bottom teeth with your bottom lip. My Sax teacher used to get so angry with me when I didn't do this (and rightly so) :-)

Felix Reali glad you agree. It's a bit of a mute point in the sax world I think... 🤔

Hi Chez, I have been looking for Alto sheet music to play to funky house or upbeat music but I'm not finding anything, do you know of any website or anywhere I can get these? Loving your video's 😘
@cheztaylorsax8 жыл бұрын
Simon Proudler hmm...you can get some cool transcriptions of the brecker brothers online or in a book which will come with cd. You a fan of the tune - some skunk funk? So bloomin cool that one! Or for some cute funky jazz numbers, the Gordon Goodwin jazz duets are actually pretty awesome. Also comes with cd. Cxx

how long should you use a reed for before changing to a new one i am a new player on 1.5 reed
@zvonimirtosic61715 жыл бұрын
Depends on the size of your mouthpiece and the particular type of sound you wish to produce. For example, if you play a tip size 10 mouthpiece, you may use 1.5 reed throughout your life, because any harder reed makes such a mouthpiece difficult or impossible to play. But that mouthpiece may be excellent to produce a variety of tonal colours that a smaller tip mouthpiece can't.

Tenor reed on a Alto? I have seen this in places, thoughts?
@cheztaylorsax7 жыл бұрын
metamurph well in theory they are the same width, just tenor reeds are longer. So technically would work but not advisable. They're not made to switch between. Good observation though Hun. Cx

Hi Chez: What is your opinion on the use of Fibracell reeds for both tenor and alto sax? Have you ever tried using them? Thanks for your reply! Regards, Steve
@cheztaylorsax8 жыл бұрын
Steven Yee heya Hun. Thanks for getting in touch. I do quite like the plastic reeds for alto although I've not really taken to them on tenor. Here's a link to a review I did which you may find interesting; kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnqle4Gvjt-UeNE

Try Forestone Black Bamboo reeds!! I just bought one of those as well as a fibracell reed for Alto. The Forestone is WAYYY better.
@CarlyWaarly4 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, we use Legere reeds on our tenor and Baritone sax, find them consistent in tone, useful for beginners who need to concentrate on other things other than the reed, we also tried Fibrecell but the Legere were better, more robust.

Thanks for these great tips on breathing, it is always good to remember and improve. You should do a video also on warming up notes ! By the way, your French is great,, waiting for a video in french too ! :-)

Mex Sax ha ha! Are you French? How do you find the videos? Can you follow? I have considered subtitles. Do you think this would be useful for you? Thanks for getting in touch. Cx
@MexSax8 жыл бұрын
Chez Taylor. Sax Yes I am French, living in Mexico. I can follow quite easily although it is true you speak sometimes quickly. Either you try to slow down your pace, otherwise I would recommend you add bullet points to your videos (in this video, the 10 bullet points on breathing). But I don't think subtitles would be necessary. Cheers
