Teaching my first 2nd grade middle school class (12 - 14 yo) using Teams tomorrow. Quite nervous about it, but video's like this help a lot, especially during already stressfull times like this. Thank you very much!

Thanks for your honest and very useful video. Ive found that Teams is not a natural teaching medium but a corporate collaboration tool. So it's great if you are scientists wanting to build a better bomb but not good when children are trying to learn at home on a Tesco Hudl. However it's been forced on us by IT professionals who have never spoken to a child. However, thank you for your great tips and advice.

Thank-you , this is very helpful. Can you tell me how you achieved that view: video of you talking top left, slides filling rest of screen? I am struggling to find out how to do this - I think it is important to have a good view of the teacher talking.

I don't know how he's doing it, but I have done it using Camtasia. It will record your screen separately from your webcam and then you can add/remove/resize/reposition the webcam feed during editing.
@benaryder4 жыл бұрын
Hi - I used 'Screencastomatic' for this presentation, recording my PowerPoint screen and my webcam together, as Michelle points out below. There's not way to get a nice view of this yourself as teacher on Teams, but your students can - and do - when you share your screen - they see a large screen share, and a small camera, by default.

If I present a powerpoint, the participant control panel disappears. I can't see the chat, poll, or hand raise while I'm teaching. Someone said you can toggle using ALT + Tab--but that's too much work. Any suggestions? This works in Zoom but not
@benaryder4 жыл бұрын
It's all so much easier with a second display. I teach with Teams on one screen, and my presentation / OneNote / other screen-share on the other screen. I make my screen-share screen the laptop screen with touch screen so that I can annotate with stylus.

This was a very concise, useful video. Thank you @BenRyder. One thing I would like to be able to do is to have a small thumbnail of my videocamera stream at a corner of the screen while I flip through a presentation. In fact exactly what you have done in this video. Is this possible in MS Teams ?
@benaryder4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! When you are sharing your screen in Teams, if you keep your camera on, then the end users get to see both screenshare and camera. By default, it's a large view of the screenshare, and thumbnails of the most recent speakers (usually the teacher!). Students can change the view though by 'pinning' a user. They can also enter fullscreen mode, where the video feeds will disappear unless you move the mouse.

Hello, I am a regular presenter using Microsoft Teams. Now, since my screen stays on a small window at the bottom left of my computer screen. Is there any trick to make it on the full screen mode ? I tried using Camera app and other video meeting apps and activated share screen feature, but the students are saying they are seeing me inverted, like a mirror effect. I DESPERATELY NEED HELP IN THIS REGARD.
@benaryder4 жыл бұрын
Just use 'share my screen' in Teams. The end users get to see your screen full-screen. It's all built in!

@@benaryder That's fine but how can I see my own feedback video ( the small one on the bottom left ) on a large scale ? I am a Mathematics teacher, and I have got to show sums on camera, but since the screen is very small, I can't be sure of how I am presenting myself.

I haven't found a way to make your own video feed full screen, apart from adding another device to the call and viewing on that screen as another student would

Is this 3X3 grid available now? As i am not able to see more than 4 prsns on the screen. Is there any option of deleting the meeting also so that no one can join the meeting later on.
@benaryder4 жыл бұрын
Yes, videos should show up to 3x3. Make sure your Teams client software is up to date. If you delete a meeting from your (Teams) calendar, then students cannot join it.

the post : Dear Educators, how do you use microsoft teams for asynchronous learning. Using the 'files' option in the channels?? Any specific best practices that has worked for you for asynchronous learning?==> posted by me
@benaryder4 жыл бұрын
If you do use the files area, be careful with read only folders (as mentioned in my video). If you don't use a read only folder, then students are able to edit the documents. There is also a nice 'assignments' feature of Teams, which I haven't gone into in this video.

Thanks a lot for this clear and useful video. I tried a meeting yesterday and I found that I lose (cannot see) the chat box when I start sharing a power point presentation. I could not solve it... I appreciate if you have a way to keep the chat box in front of me while sharing power point, so, I see what participants write and reply to them on spot.

Could a standard potentially be adopted for joining meetings? Outlook calendar meetings don't show up in teams when they are active, and the only way to join is to find the email and click the link to join the meeting. Some classes start a meeting from Teams directly and others use the outlook calendar. There have been instances where I was waiting for the teacher to start a meeting just to find that I missed the start of the lesson because it could only be accessed from the email.
@benaryder4 жыл бұрын
Calendar meetings show up in the Calendar tab in Teams, don't they? However my guidance is that schools should set up a TEAM per class, and the teacher should hold a meeting in that CHANNEL. This helps massively with finding meetings, and sharing resources.
