Louis & Alexis assisted me with recent trip (July 2022). Very true about hikes…. Have the right hiking shoes…. Most hikes are rocky with lose gravel. Last thing you want is a twisted ankle or knee while out on a trail. I did 4 hikes and came out injury-free, but took a little longer, since I was cautious, especially going downhill. Thank again to my Traveling Swiss friends…..

Now that you are in Geneva, it would be great if you could show the festival of L’Escalade in December. I lived in Geneva when I was little and those chocolate cauldrons with the marzipan vegetables were AMAZING.

Beware of pick pockets. We were just in Switzerland last week and I was unfortunately a victim. The people that picked my wallet pretended to help with our luggages getting off the train in Interlaken from Zurich. It would have been a perfect vacation as Switzerland is so beautiful.

Urgh, I’m really sorry to read that. Sadly yes there are gangs of criminals that come to Switzerland each summer specifically to pick on Tourists- especially on trains and in train stations. I hope it didn’t ruin your trip.

It was a little inconvenience calling banks to cancel cards but we were there to have a great time and determined to do just that. Fortunately, I only had a few hundreds chf as we intended to use cards during our travels. Luckily, my wife brought couple extra cards. We still have a great time. Switzerland was great. Thanks for the concern. Hope these thugs won’t be able to victimize anybody else.

Rule number one for me is money belt all the way. If you lose everything but have your money belt on with passports travel currency cards plain and train tickets and itinerary with all hotel contacts in it. You are still right to go. I had one silk money belt with two passports and everything else as mentioned in it for us to travel all over Europe with no stress. I also have Pacsafe back pack and carryon and that seemed as a deterrent for thieves too leave us alone. So sorry you went through this. Easiest thing we did was book and pre pay everything in advance and print everything out and all you have to have cash or cards for is food really.

So I went to Switzerland, omg how crazy expensive, me and my girlfriend went out to eat the first day because we had just came from Italy, we were tired of pasta so we went to eat at a local Latin restaurant, apparently the price was supposed to be cheap, omg a meal for 2 was 80 Swiss francs, after that day, we took your advise and ate from the super markets, the foods were pretty good and spent almost 3 times less than we would have eating out. Thank you!!! We also bought the day travel pass because we were going to spend the day traveling and that really helped us, we got to do the boat rides, multiple trains all without issue and saved over 200 usd

Hello guys, thanks so much for your videos, I have a question, please help me 🥺, I don't know if I buy my tickets in the right way, my trip is on November, I bought the half fare card for one month, and the top of Europe pass with the reduced fare with a half fare card, but in the process buying the top of Europe pass I had never to put information about the half fare card, Do i need the pass and the half fare card "linked" or separate works?

Probably get a Swiss Half Fare Card to drastically reduce train, bus and ferry costs. Also gets you a discount on each the Berner Oberland Pass and Jungfrau Corona Season Pass. Restaurants: many of the popular spots open their doors for dinner service at 5:00. Reservations are necessary if you show up at 7:00. So, if you can eat early, most places should be open to you. Travel Insurance as medical costs in Switzerland are really, really expensive. I have one company I use, but I've *fortunately* never had to file a claim thus far. So, I don't feel I can recommend them at this point. There are some really UGLY experiences folks have had trying to get a claim processed by a travel insurer. In these instances some folks have found success by filing complaints with their state's insurance regulator.

@JanPBtest
@JanPBtest Жыл бұрын
To answer this question you need to roughly estimate which cable car/trains/boats trips you'll be doing and just total them up and _calculate._ The Jungfraujoch train ride will alone almost pay for the HalfFare card: the round trip ticket is 220 CHF and the monthly HalfFare is 120 CHF (IIRC). Also keep in mind that that train ride to the top is quite long (something like 2 1/2 hours one way if you start from Lauterbrunnen), so start early in the day as the last train down is about 17:00 IIRC (doublecheck this, please). You can speed things up a bit by using the newly opened "V-Bahn" cable car to Eigergletscher whose lower station is located next to the "Grindelwald Terminal" train station. Bring sun shades as snow in sunlight can be painful 🙂 If you feel like going out to eat in Interlaken, I recommend Brasserie 17, it's not super expensive, it's a bit off the main tourist areas. In Lauterbrunnen the restaurant Weidstübli inside the Camping Jungfrau is IMHO better priced than the centrally located ones. Last but not least, there is a kebab joint in Lauterbrunnen if all else fails financially 🙂Finally, Horner Pub there serves very nice food (not very large portions) until very late at night.

@@JanPBtest So if u wanna do the jungfrau (is this the best cable cars ride for the best view to do?) better get that halffare card? What would u suggest coming from Milan to Zermatt what to do on a low budget? Is it possible to get go Zermatt, Lauter and Grindelwald in 2-4 days?

Does SIM card bought in France work in Switzerland? I arrive in France before coming to Switzerland and I want to buy my SIM card in France
@JanPBtest
@JanPBtest Жыл бұрын
It most likely will work but you'll pay roaming fees as Switzerland is not in the EU. Typically what should happen is when you physically cross the border, you'll get an SMS with the details of the pricing for calls, SMS, MMS, and data. It's usually cheaper to buy a local Swiss SIM card but you'd need to research this.
