When traveling significant distances to get from point A to point B, we tend to use Harvest Hosts. I don't think I'd be able to sleep at a Rest Area and Walmart's can be rather shady. So far, after 2 years, we've never had a bad stay!!! Feels good to help out small family farms or businesses too!!!

The company I drive a truck for uses Best Pass which gives us 2 transponders, an EZ Pass and a second one that works where they don't take EZ Pass. I don't knowvif they have an RV program, but if they don't but get enough demand, they might come up with one. When toll roads charge per axle, cash tolls get expensive in a hurry.

Just like the old Purolator oil filter commercials, "You can pay a little now, or A LOT more later!" I've learned the hard way in the auto & small engine / motorcycle repair industry that when you try to save a buck either for yourself or someone else, it ALWAYS ends up costing you in the long run. Save a buck and spend $100, is usually how it goes! Buy the good stuff and save a major headache! Thanks for the money saving tips! Doubtful we'll be going anywhere anytime soon, but that's "tools for the toolbox" I can use at another time (A hopefully BETTER time)! And on that "cheaping out" note, there are 2 things on an automobile I never skimp on, or cheap out on ... and that's TIRES and brakes! I change my tires every 6 years (If I can - sometimes I end up with crappy ones through no fault of my own that don't last) tops, or when they're about 50%. Remember, I live in MA, so I tend to zip around a bit ... so 30k is high mileage on tires for me - they're pretty much bald by then. Full disclosure - I don't drive many miles per year, and I've got a tire machine and balancer, and a lift and air tools, so this isn't as big a hit or inconvenience to me as it is to the average bear. But even still, especially if you're traveling in rain or snow often, you've GOT to have good tires. Think of it this way - the difference between slamming into a car and pushing their bumper into the back of the front seats, or stopping 10' behind the bumper can be decided by your TIRES and their condition. Cheaper to buy tires than to repair your vehicle, AND someone else's if it came to that. I know you know how to drive if you grew up in MA (You HAVE to or you'll get killed here, lol!), John, so don't take this as I'm talking down to ya - this is more for the general population that might read this. Also, another full disclosure, my tires right now are almost to the threads due to the economy, so I've violated my own rule! With that in mind, if it starts to rain, I just take into account that I'm not going to be able to stop as quickly, and leave some extra room. I've got a new set of tires sitting out there right now, but looking at the costs of everything going up, and up, and up, I think I might run these bald ones until winter, and use the new ones next spring (I've got another set of rims with dedicated snow tires on for the 3 miserable months winter). Looks so beautiful there. I'm already getting depressed seeing it dark at 5AM and dark by 8PM now up here. Winter is coming again! 🥶😭 Enjoying the weather up here now ... but in 2 short months, it's going to be miserable again. Glad you guys don't have that problem! 👍👍God bless!

Hey John. Did the thumbs up and watched every second of the video. Whether RVing or not, EXCELLENT tips!! I didn't know about the grocery store awards cards. Thanks Merceded!! Speaking of Mercedes being so smart . . . John, listen to Mercedes and get new tires! With the price of tires being so much higher now, I know how you feel buying new tires. I just had to pay 70% more to replace mine and even had to wait to get them in my size. Thanks Joe! BTW - speaking of maintenance, I'm going back to doing my own maintenance. With dealers having no cars to sell, they are making it up in doing repairs. I had to have a radiator cooling fan electric motor replaced. The dealer wanted $899.54 for the repair. I bought a new OEM motor for $65 and replaced it myself in less than thirty minutes using only a 10mm wrench. Finally, I am a member paying the monthly fee.
