Fun fact: the authenticity of some of these torture devices is unknown. A lot of surviving examples come from centuries after they were supposedly used, and a lot of written accounts come from the political enemies of the countries that supposedly used them (the English in particular had a huge hate-boner for the Spanish). So, it's possible that some of these were made up for the sake of propaganda.

Pedro Portela Human nature has nothing to do with it. The point is that we don't know if some of these things like the Spanish Donkey or Judas Cradle ever really existed, because the only examples we have were made in the Victorian period, long after the middle ages.

The Bellowing Bull The victim is placed into a large bull like statue made of copper or some other metal and a fire is lit under them, the metal heats up and slowly boils the victim to death but to make it worse the bull has tubes going through it that amplify the screams and make it sound like a bellowing bull

I just recently watched Dracula Untold again and I still thought it was pretty good. Also, a recommendation, watch the boys on Amazon, the first season is free and it wasn't promoted enough for how good of a show it is.

during the Vietnam war the Australian troops kept running into spike traps that would go through their foot and was ripped with poison. however the Vietnamese didn't have much on the way of poisons so they used human faeces. the Australians countered this by putting stainless steel soles in their boots. however the Vietnamese were just as smart and dug the pits a bit deeper and made the spikes come from the side and into the ankle.

Dear Doraleous(and Neebs), I love your videos a ton! I usually watch them to relax after long and stressful days of work and school. When I saw the title of this video, I thought, "woah! this might be pretty entertaining!" I still don't know why I continued watching it after the third device. I'm a huge fan of horror movies but this was some f*cked up stuff. Very creative and interesting, but pretty weird. The second one you talked about was used by the Gestapo fairly often. They would tie arms behind the victims back, then hang them from a bar. Their shoulders would become dislocated, then the would loosely hang by their unjointed arms.

The Bronze Bull, in ancient Greece a usual form of torture was taking the victim and placing them in what is the equivalent of small oven usually in the shape of a bull (hence the name) and a heat source was placed underneath the bull and the person inside would be slowly cooked alive, what makes it worse is there were usually some form of noise amplifiers in the bull so the screams of the person inside would resemble the bellowing of a bull.

i remember this one that was used during ww2 and the vietnam war. basically you would be tied to the ground ontop of a bamboo sapling. and then you were left there to die as the bamboo slowly burrowed through your body.
