I skipped marathons and went right to 50ks, and I've loved every minute. I'm a very average runner who works 2 jobs, about 55-60 hours a week, so getting in the time to train is my biggest challenge. I've learned you can do a LOT in 20-30 minutes... whether it's a low HR recovery run, a speed session, a strength and mobility session, some yoga or foam rolling. I plan out my longer runs in advance, then cram in the mini segments where I can. I'm having more fun now with my running than I ever have, with less injuries!

I love how many people have skipped over the marathon right into ultras! I decided to do just that last night. Signed up for a 50k in Jan 2023 and hoping to run my first marathon in April. Thanks for watching Adrian. We do always mark any sponsored videos as containing paid content on KZbin (you should see a little message within the first 10 seconds of the video). Rest assured, we only work with brands where we believe in the products and we work hard to make sure our videos are entertaining and helpful for you. Hope this helps 🙂

Hi Yelina, we do always flag any sponsored videos as containing paid content which ensures that KZbin shows a message on screen for the first 10s of the video. We also include the brand logo alongside our own in the introduction. We only work with brands where we believe in the products and are always trying to ensure that our videos are useful and entertaining first and foremost. The support from brand partners is what makes it possible for us to make free videos about what we love, and we’re always focused on making sure additional features we mention are genuinely useful. Your opinion and support is really important to us, so please do drop us an email if you have any questions or concerns.

Running an ultra is a very very aspirational target for me. If I can manage to bag a marathon in the autumn of 2022 I will be thinking of stretching out for an "easy" ultra. Yeah, I know: easy?!?!? 🤣

Would love to, but... was actually wondering what would be a good starting point in training/signing up for a ultra? Need to run a marathon first? Largest run up till now is a 30km long run
@runningchannel2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! It's not always necessary to have run a marathon first - some runners just jump straight in! You could try a 50k. For my first ultra, I chose a lapped event that way there was no pressure to go the ultra distance unless I felt like I could. It's a great way to start as you just take one lap at a time. Hope this helps and good luck!
@Kelly_Ben2 жыл бұрын
I did the same, I skipped the marathon and did a relatively flat, looped 50k... the "easiest" ultra possible. I don't regret it for a second. I'm doing my first trail marathon in a month, and though I would never say marathons are "easy", running a couple 50ks first makes me feel confident and excited to try a marathon.

Are you sure running isn't bad for your knees...seems like every male (maybe more weight so more injuries) on your show has major injury problems. 🤔
@Kelly_Ben2 жыл бұрын
😂 Debunked. Studies show running strengthens the structure of the knee with thoughtful training. Injuries can come from improper form, too much too fast too soon, overdoing it for your body, or simply taking a bad step. All physical activity comes with some risk of injury, but nothing like the health consequences of NOT being active.
