I think Roger Moore was the humorous Bond and Pierce Brosnan was meant to be the unrealistically perfect and suave Bond. There were outlandish aspects to Brosnan’s films but they were in the effort to say, he’s got all the gadgets, he doesn’t flinch at anything type of deal. Daniel Craig was the first Bond to be a bit more real. Show some pain/trauma or gritty emotion. At least he seemed more like a real person rather than a fantasy figure. 10: James Bond was the name of a noted ornithologist author which Fleming lifted for his character as boring, but manly. 9: Roger Moore had to finish The Saint and didn't become Bond until he was aged 45. 8: Adam West, Clint Eastwood, and Burt Reynolds supposedly turned down the Bond role. 7: The Bond character is actually Scottish. This makes him "British" rather than English. 6: George Lazenby lied to get the Bond role, inflating his resume with non-existant past roles. 5: Bond is a womanizer, bedding 55 women in 23 films. 4: The Bond theme was adapted from a stage musical song, "Good Sign, Bad Sign". 3: Pierce Brosnan's Bond was deadliest, killing 76 to 135 (depending on how it's counted) out of 350 people killed in the 23 movies rated. 2: Sean Connery, considered most masculine by many, has used a toupee' for all of his Bond movies. 1: The Bond character has been shot at 4662 times, unaccountably surviving. Like, there are some that most of us can agree are better or worse than others, but you can't really say anyone is wrong for liking or hating them; for example, I know people that love Roger Moore the most because of how goofy his films were, but other people say their favorite is Brosnan because of his suave, action-packed take on the character; and still others like Daniel Craig for his intensity or George Lazenby for his (in my opinion, underrated) more emotional portrayal of Bond. +David Scott "The Living Daylights" likely started out as the final outing for Roger Moore, but after "A View To A Kill" Moore hung up the tux and the producers looked for a new actor to take over. They first approached Dalton, who was unavailable due to other filming obligations at the time. They screen tested another actor, but didn't pick him up. Then they went to Brosnan, and intended to have him take over in the film. But when word got out that Brosnan was the new Bond, "Remington Steele" saw a spike in ratings, and the show's contract was renewed. The producers insisted that no one from "Remington Steele" was going to play Bond, so they went back to Dalton, who was now available. Dalton was originally going to be in "Goldeneye" after his contract expired in 1993, but he quit the role in 1994, and Brosnan suceeded him.

I liked Lazenby. But that movie also had Diana Rigg, so I might be a little biased. I remember people saying that they just didn't want Dalton back in the role, but then I found out later that in truth, he was supposed to be in Goldeneye but he couldn't because of an injury. The movie was delayed to basically wait for him to recover, and then the situation got totally screwed so they finally had to recast and use Brosnan. I really like Brosnan, but considering Goldeneye was his only good Bond film, a part of me really wishes Dalton had been able to do it. He was my favorite Bond after Sean Connery.

The mystery of James Bond, the legendary secret agent “007”, was additionally enhanced by the statement of his creator Ian Fleming, when he revealed to the media that the double agent from the World War II, known as “Tricycle”, served him as an inspiration. And after “Tricycle” himself described the mysterious life of spies in his memoirs, the controversy re-merged. Who was that man? He was born in 1912 in a well-off Serbian family in Titel, a small town in what today is Banat, and at that time a part of the mighty Austro-Hungarian monarchy. His name was Duško Popov.

When will WatchMojo do a top ten over the James Bond soundtracks? probably the best scores in cinema history. Here is my pick: - 10. Moonraker (John Barry) 1979 Beautiful emotional score - Barry explores new ways of doing Bondmusic A Track especially worth mentioning: The centrifuge and Corinne puts down - 09. A View To A Kill (John Barry) 1985 Barry at his best. A memorable action theme, great love themes, and great instrumental versions of the Theme song. A Track especially worth mentioning: Golden Gate Fight - 08. GoldenEye (Eric Serra) 1995 Controversial and experimental score but most welcome after the series six year hiatus. Serra made a good mix of percussions and sample sounds and it was a great idea to play the Bond theme on Timpanis A Track especially worth mentioning: The GoldenEye Overture - 07. Thunderball (John Barry) 1965 Part os Barrys golden period. Experience great Trumpet tunes by Derek Watkins. Barry really delivers atmosphere and aggresiveness. A Track especially worth mentioning: The Bomb - 06. The Spy Who Loved Me (Marvin Hamlisch) 1977 Marvin Halisch gives us a score with less music but very well timed mash ups. The disco action theme works very well for Roger Moores Bond. The epic music when the sub leaves the sinking tanker Liparus at the ending is definitely worth mentioning A Track especially worth mentioning: The Tanker - 05. The World Is Not Enough (David Arnold) 1999 Arnolds best and most melodic shot. The World Is Not Enough is more diverse and more melodic than Tomorrow Never Dies and balances the mix of symphonic orchestra and electronic music better than Die Another Day. It succeeds in using the theme song within the score in a Barry-like fashion. A Track especially worth mentioning: Welcome To Baku - 04. You Only Live Twice (John Barry) 1967 Part of Barrys golden period. YOLT is a more diverse score than the two entries that came before it (Goldfinger and Thunderball) and mixes beautiful and agressive pieces very well. The score is far better than the movie. A Track especially worth mentioning: The Wedding - 03. Diamonds´Are Forever (John Barry) 1971 The end of Barrys Golden Period and the end of the Connery-era. Diamonds Are Forever has a weak point: The Action music, but the rest of the score works just perfectly. It makes good use of the theme song within the score and it has some very beautiful stellar tracks alongside the suspense music. A Track especially worth mentioning: Death at the Whyte House - 02. The Living Daylights (John Barry) 1987 John Barry leaves the Bond franchise on a high. The score for Daltons first outing as Bond is nothing else but a masterpiece. Barry delivers a strong score with great and updated action music, a fantastic love theme and some very dark tracks that help distinguish Daltons Bond from Roger Moores Bond. A Track especially worth mentioning: Murder At The Fair Honourable Mentions: Live and Let Die (George Martin) 1973, Die Another Day (David Arnold) 2002, For Your Eyes Only (Bill Conti) 1981 - 01. On Her Majesty´s Secret Service (John Barry) 1969 The peak of Barrys Golden Period. A New Bond presented a need for a new Sound and John Barry delivers just that with an updated score which makes references to the previous Bondfilms starring Sean Connery but with a twist. Barry uses A Moog syntheziser to distuingish Lazenby from Connery. This was the first time a movie score mixed Symphonic orchestra and Moog Synthesizer and you can hear and numerous tracks throughout the score/Soundtrack. It´s also a darker and more epic score than what the audience was used to at the time. A Track especially worth mentioning: Ski Chase

3:18 As much as I love Clint (and Hugh Jackman for that matter), I would very much regret it if the role of Bond were to be taken up by a non-Brit - so thank you Clint for 'agreeing that Bond should stay British'. Anyways, the Harry movies, In the Line of Fire, Blood Work and Tightrope are more than good enough - and (even though this is somewhat unrelated) let us not forget the Man with No Name.

Here are 6 more for you. 1.Before Roger Moore was actually cast they wanted Timothy Dalton for the role as they wanted a younger actor. But Dalton turned it down feeling he was to young for the role and Moore was cast. Then later before they cast Dalton in the role they actually wanted Pierce Brosnan to play the role, but he was contracted to Remington Steel, so they cast Dalton in the role. Also Ian Fleming actually wanted David Niven to play James Bond originally, but the producers wanted Sean Connery. 2. An American actor was in line for the role alongside Daniel Craig in fact he made it to the final 2. Goran Visnjic who is famous for the Elektra film and ER TV series was in line for the role before Daniel Craig was cast. 3. Lazenby was also Stupid. Producers wanted to sign him to a multi film James Bond contract but he believed if he signed a 1 film contract, then they would pay him a lot more to sign up to do more after On her Majesties Secret Service was released. He believed it would be a huge hit so he would be able to negotiate a bigger contract. Unfortunately for him the film wasn't a huge hit and they didn't ask him back for a second film. He was famous before James Bond for the old Milk Tray chocolate ads. 4. Goldeneye was Brosnan's best Bond film. Its director Martin Campbell also directed Daniel Craig's first Bond film Casino Royale. Campbell insisted on doing as many non CGI shots as he could on the films. In fact in Casino Royale there was only one CGI shot in the whole film. I guarantee if you don't know what it is you would never guess it. 5. Woody Allen played the villain in the James Bond Spoof of Casino Royale which featured David Niven playing James Bond. 6. Sony Picutres produced the remake of Thunderball, Never Say Never Again.They later distributed some of Daniel Craig's Bond films. Also the book to Thunderball is the only book that is based on the films screenplay. It was the reason Sony were able to remake it. The guys who wrote the screenplay Kevin Mcclory and Jack Whittingham took Eon and Fleming to court to claim Thunderball was their idea and so the rights belonged to them and the courts agreed. They did a deal with Sony to allow them to remake it. Ian Fleming only wrote the novel after the screenplay was written. It is also the reason they couldn't use the organisation Spectre for years as they were created in the book Thunderball and they came under those rights.

Hmm so now this brings up and important question. Will you guys do a versus with Ethan Hunt vs James Bond??
@singh_vivek_in9 жыл бұрын
Ethan Hunt vs James Bond is moot. Ethan Hunt is badass because Tom Cruise plays him. Without Tom Cruise, Ethan Hunt doesn't count much. In case of James Bond however, the actor who plays James Bond isn't important. it's the character of James Bond that's important. I hope I'm wrong and many actors play Eathan Hunt in the years to come and the MI franchise remains just as awesome. it didn't work with Jason Bourne so I'm not too hopeful.
@cooljhags73569 жыл бұрын
Vivek Singh Anyone can play Ethan Hunt, just depends on if they're right for the role and yes it'll be a big shoe to fill but it can be done Tom Cruise is not the be all end all of Mission Impossible.

+Cool Jhags I hope that's true... who do you think should play the next Hunt?

If this is true though, how comes he's called James Bond before he becomes 007 in Casino Royale, his parents were called Bond in Skyfall and King Cade knows him as James Bond in Skyfall? Also in Diamonds Are Forever Connery's Bond wants revenge for the death of his wife from George Lazenby's film and there's a reference to the death of Tracy in The Spy Who Loved Me as well. Same at the start of For Your Eyes only (they were both Roger Moore films). I can see how people would think that, but there are many flaws with the theory.

I've got that beat. I've SOOOO got that beat. (And I scanned the comments, first.) You want "unbelievable James Bond facts"? Here's four more: 1) Simple Trivia: The author who wrote the James Fucking Bond books is the same guy who wrote "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". 2) Obscure Trivia: Goldeneye was the name of Ian Fleming's estate in Jamaica. 3) Cart-before-horse: Product placement has been intentional in the Bond stories even before the movies were made. Ian Fleming wrote about how he employed "the constant use of familiar household names and objects which reassure [the reader] that he and the writer have still got their feet on the ground. This is where the real names of things come in useful. A Ronson lighter, a 4.5 litre Bentley with an Amherst-Villiers supercharger (please note the solid exactitude), the Ritz Hotel in London, the 21 Club in New York, the exact names of flora and fauna, even James Bond’s Sea Island cotton shirts with short sleeves. All these details are points de repère to comfort and reassure the reader on his journey into fantastic adventure." 4) Just plain weird: The Bond films have been brought to us by the family who created George H.W. Bush's most hated vegetable... broccoli. Broccoli is a man-made hybrid of two other vegetables, and film producer Albert Romolo "Cubby" Broccoli was from the family that created it. From the LA Times: "[Albert's father] Giovanni Broccoli and his brother emigrated to Long Island from Calabria at the turn of the century. According to research done in Florence by Broccoli’s wife of 30 years, Dana, the brothers were descended from the Broccolis of Carrera, who first crossed two Italian vegetables, cauliflower and rabe, to produce the dark green, thick-stalked vegetable that took their name and eventually supported them in the United States. "Giovanni’s brother started a broccoli farm on Long Island, and soon all of Giovanni’s family worked for him. 'Myself, my brother, my mother, my father--all working on our hands and knees,' said Broccoli, who picked up the nickname Cubby (after a round-faced comic strip character) at about that time. 'Later on, we had our own farm.'”

Nice Facts: 10. The original James Bond is actually a bird seeker. He seeks lovely chicks. 9. Roger Moore retires as James Bond at the age of 57, but he looks good at his age until now he's pretty old. 8. More cast was selected to play James Bond like Liam Neeson, Goran Visnjic, Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor, and many more. 7. James Bond was born as a Scottish person. 6. He only played on role at the age of 31. 5. James Bond banged lot of gorgeous ladies more than a million. 4. We always love that theme song for many generations. 3. Pierce Brosnan is actually a killer machine. If you played "GoldenEye" from N64, he fucking kills more bastards in each level. Yes, he's probably a Die Hard video game expert from seven years. 2. Wow, Connery lost his hair at the age of 21? That was unbelievable. At least his hair stays normal in each film. and... 1. James Bond Will Return to be Alive.

The most interesting fact is that Christopher Nolan was inspiring his influences like James Bond scenes. In "The Dark Knight Rises, he references the plane scene from "License to Kill." The snowy battle scene from "Inception" was influence from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." The jump scene where Batman jumps down the building in "The Dark Knight" was even reference from the bungee jump scene from "GoldenEye." Let's not forget the moon control scene from "Interstellar" was from the Drax's satellite system from "Moonraker." Even both movies like "Batman Begins" and "Casino Royale" were both the 21st century of rebooting the new movies.

@mikeschultz55519 жыл бұрын
+IRejectSociety You can mod an AR-15 into just about anything. You can find DMR (designated marksman rifle) kit for an AR 15 with a longer barrel, sight, bipod and other accessories. You can get a shorter barrel, smaller stock, and other accessories and make it a bullpup or CQB rifle. You can change out the upper receiver to make it almost any caliber you want. You can even fit it with heavier stuff and a drum mag to make it more like a light machine gun. Now you would have to check your local laws to see what is legal or not, but an AR-15 can absolutely be called a sniper rifle. I should also point out that the definition of a sniper rifle is a scoped rifle. Meaning anything classified as a rifle with a scope added can be called a sniper rifle.
@mikeschultz55519 жыл бұрын
+baddogonline for a sniper trying to hit a target over a mile yes the AR is a bad choice. As a DMR for shots up to 550 yards it's what the us and several other countries use. It's smaller and uses the same ammo as the rest of the squad, unlike other sniper rifles. Bond isn't going for a long shot and he needs a stable midrange weapon that breaks down fast, making the AR one of the best choices.
@gpecaut18 жыл бұрын
IRejectSociety In From Russia With Love, they use an AR-7 as a sniper rifle. Now that is far more outlandish than the AR-15 or M-16 or G-3 scoped as a sniper rifle.

Patrick McGoohan was one of several actors considered for the role of James Bond in Dr. No. While McGoohan, a Catholic, turned down the role on moral grounds, the success of the Bond films is generally cited as the reason for Danger Man (UK) Secret Agent (US) being revived. (He was later considered for the same role in Live and Let Die, but turned it down again. In the 1967 Movie Casino Royale David Niven portrayed a retired Sir Jame Bond, and Peter Sellers appeared as a man playing James Bond (expert card player), Woody Allen played the nephew of James Bond (Jimmy Bond) as well as the mentioned villain in the film, Dr. Noah. Big omission on McGoohan, who would later play the Prisoner. Also Sean Connery played a Bond character (by inference, called John Mason opposite James Godspeed, play Nicolas Cage) in the movie, The Rock.

A fact I would have added was why Bond got his signature Walter PPK sidearm. In the first book, Bond had a different gun. A fan who knew about guns sent Fleming a letter saying how much he liked the book, but said that Bond's sidearm was unrealistic for its purpose. He proposed alternatives, including the PPK, and Fleming added that in. This is touched on in the film Dr. No, where Bond reluctantly turns in his current gun and is issued a Walter instead.
