@iPyromantic2 жыл бұрын
@jla0848 Actually, there really is. Yes, you can be unhappy and perturbed to find out you were kissing someone of your own sex rather than the opposite when you're straight, but the fact that you move straight to "grossed out" is homophobic AND transphobic. The way they portray things in the movie, as soon as it's revealed that the character is trans - all the men react as though something beyond disgusting has happened, retching, grimacing, recoiling in horror. That scene is the EPITOME of transphobia, because it's saying "look how twisted and disgusting this THING is," completely dehumanizing the character, and cementing in the idea that someone who is trans is abnormal and gross. Obviously there's a lot more going on behind the reasoning of the character, so we don't know if the character is technically trans or just very mentally ill (and that's a WHOLE other kettle of fish that I won't go into), but the fact remains that they're still being portrayed as obscene simply for having transitioned.

I feel like there's no way this one wasn't planned (or the take in the movie is an ALT). They're not actually playing the music in those types of scenes, as the continuity between takes and such wouldn't match. So I think they synced the music up afterwards to make it seem like it was in the middle of a note.
@NeuroticNicky873 жыл бұрын
@@mattb7479 It's called Post-Production which is done after all scenes have finished filming. The cellists were pretending to play well, Jim Carrey intervened so they added the sound of the mess up while adding the music in. You can just imagine the genuine confusion and .5 seconds of thinking of what else to do that happened in his head when LITERALLY NOTHING fell off that table. LOL What an amazing improvised reaction. Between consuming so much of him and Robin Williams as a kid, I understand why my humor is somewhere between kind of witty and just bonkers.
@obsidiansands3 жыл бұрын
Jim Carrey is one of those few legends that can improv on the spot along with Robin Williams. They both have manic personalities, but Williams doesn't dial it down even when off screen unless he's alone. My only wish was to put Robin Williams and Jim Carrey together in an unscripted film and let them loose for 3 full hours. Whatever came out of that , bloopers and all - would be the whole film. RIP Robin Williams and hats off to Jim Carrey for bringing us laughter.
@FlorJor262 жыл бұрын
While that would have been amazing I don't think it would've worked. The reason why Carrey liked working with actors and not comedians is because he wanted the freedom of being himself without having another comedian steal his thunder as comedians tend to do.
@obsidiansands2 жыл бұрын
@@FlorJor26 I guess that probably depends on who he's comfortable working with. Some of the bloopers - especially in Liar Liar - shows some of the cast (and probably crew) playing pranks on Carrey. He's also worked with comedians as well, so I doubt that would be a problem - unless both have a toxic ego like in Chevy Chase's case. In Living Color had nothing BUT comedians in the cast with Carrey in it - and some of his films had comedians too (Jeff Daniels in Dumber and Dumber to name one). One could probably argue that he became a lot more picky on who he works with later on so he can do his thing, so it's very possible. Very rarely do you see a full-on comedian that doesn't have an ego with the same size of the chip on their shoulder - Robin Williams is one person who I know didn't really have much of a prima-dona attitude with everyone he worked with. In fact, I haven't been able to find any source of feud between any of his co-stars whatsoever. The only incident I remember Williams being brassed off was in Aladdin - and it wasn't even with the crew/cast - it was Disney that he got beef with because they screwed him over after the animated film was already in the can.

Nothing compares to Legends like Jim Carey and Robin Williams. They are on a different spectrum and our society frankly doesn't deserve them. Which is one of the reason why Robin Williams felt lonely and felt it is better to leave, I just hope and pray Jim Carrey doesn't feel the same way.
@kimberlyhaines1074 жыл бұрын
Williams didn’t entirely want to leave - he just had an illness that would kill him in a few years. His wife said he was already losing full speech and mobility - I don’t blame him for taking his life when you look into his illness. Just another reason I support assisted suicide done by medical professionals - if you have a terminal illness, by damn you should get to choose to get it over with or linger in pain and/or misery.
