Dennis Claros Dude, for real? That's literally the only game in the entire world of today's video game industry that I was intending to buy, the only one that I thought would be a worthwhile expenditure of money and not a blatant cash grab from a bloated and talentless gaming conglomerate - making Silent Hills ironically a beacon of light in a dark time. I'm genuinely heartbroken. At least there are indie developers out there who know how to deliver the scares.

jthomcres Several months have passed ever since the news have been passed. Just look up Silent Hills on KZbin and you'll get a bunch of videos from lots of gaming websites/channels that announce its cancellation. Many speculate that it has something to do with the strained relationship between Hideo Kojima and Konami. After all, his name does feature prominently on what little promotional material we have of the dead game.

jthomcres sadly konami made some really bad choices including deciding they were going to only begin making games for mobile devices as they believe thats where the future of gaming is. Kojima and konami had a fight and so kojima decided to finish the last metal gear game and end his relationship with konami...could have been a male diva rant. Kojima has gotten a pretty big head, he went so far as to place himself in mgs ground zeroes.

As for Konami, I actually thought their "move towards mobile" thing was a joke, or maybe an exaggeration. If not, well... they're dead to me at least, since I don't game on mobile.

That was a really REALLY promising thing... I haven't been that unnerved since the resident evil 1 and 2 and Silent Hill 1 and 2 days! With very dynamic sound, wicked visuals, and a pretty good AI; Silent Hills could have been a monumental benchmark, I think.

I'd add Spyro to the list. I loved spyro, though I was more leaned towards the Legend of Spyro games then the original platformer games. But as soon as Skylanders happened I lost faith that Spyro was ever going to be a thing again. I don't mind Skylanders as a game but the cheap ass use of Spyro as a marketing ploy and subsequent transformation of him that looks something between a dragon mixed with a goblin felt like a kick to the nuts of any previous fans of the franchise. But who am I kidding, this is Activision we are talking about, their speciality is running franchises into the ground (See Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk).

Why do people complain that the new Resident Evil games aren't scary, when the series was never scary to begin with (with the exception of REmake)? I actually prefer the newer Resi games. In my opinion, there's a right way to do survival horror (Silent Hill, Fatal Frame) and a wrong way (Resident Evil). I'd rather play fun, action oriented shooters than clunky cheesefests that attempt to be horror but could only scare small children. I hope they never go back to their "roots".

Your right, Unity didn't do well critically and Rogue was just a $60 Black Flag expansion. Mojo.com are doing titles that haven't done well for a while however. One bad year shouldn't mean it lost its mojo. I do agree with you though, its not as great as it was during the Ezio saga.

Well thats normal in JRPG's and Final Fantasy was allways a series which changed alot. Zer0Hour17 XIII is not really that much diffrent from other Final Fantasy games... the Story was just complicated and 11 Chapters are just linear (well not saying that older FF games are not Linear but more linear than 13-2). Many love FF7 but the most dont understand the story there either... many thing that Aerith was killed by seph... what is imposible and later you even find out that this Sephiroth was in fact Jenova... still people think "it looks like seph so it was him >.

I dont understand all the hate for sonic and resident evil all the time all over the internet. Resident evil 5 and 6 sold amazingly, 5 reviewed well, and revelations 1 and 2 were both well received. 6 and operation raccoon city were the only recent "missteps". Hell even the chronicles light gun games were good. And it seems with sonic people only look at his bad games, but completely ignore the good ones as "exceptions", when its the exact opposite. His bad games are exceptions. shadow, 06,unleashed and boom were bad. But both adventure games, STH 4, colors, generations, secret rings, heroes, lost world, and every handheld game (and there are a lot of them) are good. Its kinda ridiculous

+Lennel Echols I hated 5 and 6, but LOVED 1, 2, 4 and Operation Raccoon City (I'd probably like 3, but have yet to search for an HD remake or anything). In fact, I never understood the overwhelming hate for Op. Raccoon City. That game could've really broken ground if they continued the franchise. I've never been so drawn in and immersed by a tactical squad shooter. And the online fights... *so* much fun! Ugh! Also we played as the bad guys! Final Fantasy has always been hit or miss even amongst it's legions of fans. For example Fans of IX aren't necessarily fans of X, and even one of it's most recent (FFXII) is on my personal list as being one of the best ever of the series. Ask a thousand fans of the series to list their favorites and least favorites and only one or two will consistantly make both lists.

Final Fantasy is the only title in gaming history offered by a single developer where fans both expect and tolerate complete departures in terms of story, characters.. and gameplay mechanics from one title to the next.... Of course not everyone is going to respond to each one in the same way.

I would venture that almost everyone would include 6 on their best list and 13 on their worst. Overall, the SNES games are probably the most revered, save for maybe 7 on the PS1, and then less and less as time passed. So that's sort of generalized decline, or "loss of mojo."

Very true, but I guess the point of this vid is are they getting worse overall? From my point of view it's a tough call because FF12 makes my top five . I've never played 13 but apparantly it was bad enough for others to agree with the OP that the franchise is going down hill. I'm not so sure that's the case because FF8 was largely a miss with a lot of fans at the time as well..We need more than one consensus bad titrle to make the claim that FF has lost it's mojo.

Oh how the Resident Evil has really went downhill... I remember when it was my most played games.. Resident evil 6 is probably the most ridiculous thing i've ever played.. Leon survives bus crash without injury. Leon survive michael bay-esque explosion. Leon survive train crash without injury. Chris' team are bunch of untrained soldiers and it seems chris and piers have to do everything. Leon survives plane crash without a single injury. Jake's motorcycle level.. no just no.. The only good thing about the game is Ada, Jake and Sherry campaign...

SlyTy98 Shadow the Hedgehog isn't a spin-off. Tails Adventure is a spin-off, Sonic and Sega All-stars Racing is a spin-off. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is a spin-off. Shadow the Hedgehog is a Sonic game that plays like a Sonic game. You have a spin dash. You collect rings. You go from level to level. There is platforming. There is bad story and dialogue. It is a Sonic game. Also it is a sequel to SA2 and has Shadow with amnesia which was a plot point in Sonic Heroes.

Just because they've lost their mojo doesn't mean they're all horrible now. Sure, Metroid: Other M had me struggling with the controls to start, but it was still an excellent game that combined the old school side-scrolling with the new school fps and an accurate, if poorly translated/dubbed, depiction of the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy. While I agree that Resident Evil 6 wasn't a fantastic game, I still enjoyed 5. I may be biased because I was introduced to the series with number 4, but I had a harder time with 0, 1, and Code Veronica X. Still great games, but for different reasons and with their own problems. And while I also disliked that Crash Bandicoot game with the masks and cringed during this video's clip of Tiny Tiger, I'll admit that that's nostalgia of my childhood clouding my judgements. Games can still be good even if they're not the same as the ones from your childhood.

Crash Bandicoot went back to its platformer roots with the N. Sane Trilogy and the 4th game. Resident Evil went back to its survival horror roots with Biohazard. Banjo-Kazooie made it to Smash. Medal of Honor is still in hell. Star Fox went to hell after Star Fox Zero. Sonic was revived by Sonic Mania. Bomberman went back to its roots with Super Bomberman R. Ninja Gaiden went to hell along with Dead or Alive. Mega Man went back to its run and gun roots with the 11th game. Duke Nukem still hasn't recovered from Duke Nukem Forever. And also... Metal Gear lost its mojo thanks to Metal Gear Survive and Hideo Kojima leaving Konami. The Last of Us lost its mojo with Part 2 and 1. I believe Halo lost its mojo when Bungie stopped developing the games. Jak and Daxter lost its mojo with The Lost Fronteir and Jak IV was scrapped in favor of The Last of Us.

+Aaron Wharram I Actually see your points there. Some of the newer games of Sonic have been good at best. But some of them are still poorly done in a way that kinda make them go downhill overall. (I even remember when I like sonic more than Mario back in my kid days.) When Sega lost the war to Nintendo. (I also like Nintendo mind you..) I knew Sonic was going to struggle to keep up with Mario. But In another way it is Sega's fault for NOT taking care of their one game on Sonic BOOM...(It's not 100% Sega's fault. But a company who created him SHOULD of look after him if another company is working on him with another game. I don't think the Final Fantasy XIII series was bad enough to warrant the entire franchise on this list. The games weren't terrible they just weren't as amazing as the previous installments. And I thought Lighting was a great lead. It definitely isn't facing as strong of a decline as Star Fox or the Crash Bandicoot series.

The problem for me was that they kept making sequels for an uninteresting world instead of making a Final Fantasy 15 for the last gen consoles. FF always released 3 numerical titles per system, there was no variety this gen. FF used to be the game that made me buy a system if it was exclusive, now I just don't have the confidence in the company except in the handheld department.

The Waiting Flame No mate, you are mistaken, Vaan is the main character in XII, he just happens to be as bland and boring as....lets say Luke Skywalker :P so he is eclipsed by characters that are a little bit more interesting like Ashe, the strong willed leader fighting against an evil empire that threatens her world..... hmmm, much like princess Leia come to think of it :P And lets not forget as i said Balthier, the roguish, gun toting vagrant with his ship and his furry humanoid partner that are a dead Han solo and (a bit sexier looking since it is a japanese game) Chewbaca. And you have the Empire's dogs, the Judges, who are so similar to Darth Vader that the only thing missing when they are around is the Imprial March...although the music in 12 kind of reminds of Star Wars. Of course Marquis Ondore is there too, the leader of a flying city that betrays the heroes to the empire but in the end helps them out....hmm kind of what Lando Calrissian was. And the list goes on but sadly the post has trailed long enaugh, you could always look it up online for more similarities. As for X, i never said it was bad, it was an ok final fantasy, maybe the last decent one. X-2 was horrible but that is a different story altogether.

Κωνσταντίνος Ζαρκάδας, Either way, it is one of the few Final Fantasy games that I like to re-play from time to time. The hunts were fun and challenging for me and anyone else that plays the game. Look up the hunts for Yiazmat and Omega Mark XII when you get the chance. I especially enjoyed the challenging battles to obtain all of the hidden espers. Lastly, the characters and some story elements may have been inspired by Star Wars, but that shouldn't ruin the game experience for anyone.

I don't think the recent Final Fantasy titles have really been as bad as some say. XIII did have obvious flaws, such as lack of exploration and the like, but I did love the characters, story, and battle system. XIV was also pretty rocky, but once they released A Realm Reborn, I got hooked. I never was a fan of subscription based games, but I've been playing it for over six months now and I feel it's been worth the money. And just to add, I have played all the main titles in the series besides XI, but this is all totally subjective of course.

+The KING I always felt that the CoD series kept popularity because it is thought to be "cool" and what mature gamers play. So everyone who doesn't like experimenting just jumps on the bandwagon. This also drew in children, which censored the games (cause it's the games fault that parents can't raise their children), and let's be honest in that as kids most people did what was "cool" at the time. Back to the older audience though, because of the narrow minded ideals that anything that isn't rated M is for kids (and thus sometimes equated to bad) many won't bother to try other games to "keep up an image". It also doesn't help that the series is owned by Activision as they love milking franchises until they die, however they aren't the only ones guilty for this.

Wow, Metroid?! Really?! All because of an average game like Metroid Other M?! So I guess that every other great Metroid game, like Metroid, Metroid 2: Return of Samus, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, and Metroid Zero Mission are all ruined because of freaking Other M?! All because of a bunch of hyper active fanboys becoming overly and unjustifiably enraged over one portrayal of a character from a different developing studio that they loathed for being a far more humanistic and vulnerable representation of mankind rather than just a soulless, stoic, and unfeeling shell of a character with an arm cannon, and with emptiness and lack of character being mistaken for badassery, based on theories of Samus Aran's mythos and personal nature that never really existed in the first place and were and still are based on incredibly flimsy and speculative information at best?! Especially when Metroid Zero Mission and Fusion hint at and represent Samus's character in much the same way as Metroid Other M despite Other M's flaws?! And here I thought that Watch Mojo's statement about Mario being 'almost milked up', despite all of the consistently great, high quality, and extremely/ creative games that have been both critically and commercially successful for those very same reasons(Also Super Mario 3d World was really good and that came out on the Wii U in 2013), was complete bullshit. This list is flagrantly prejudiced, not to mention biased as all hell. Also, nice cheap jabs at Sonic, despite the fact that Sonic Boom was made by an OFFBRANCH AMERICAN COMPANY from Sega and not the same Sonic Team that works in Japan on every other Sonic Game in the series, many of which were getting quite good recently or at least fun, like Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations, and even Wii U Sonic Lost World (There's a spindash mode to go faster guys and many Sonic Main Boss fights have been really easy in the past, get over it). I'm really glad that this Watch Mojo video did its research so well and didn't cater or give in to popular opinions without any personal insight as to whether these opinions were right, wrong, or just simply misguided in the first place. Ah Kane's Wrath... the last good CnC. Once EA started trying (and failing) to make CnC on their own without Westwood CnC just plummeted fast. Westwood was disbanded before Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath was released, but they'd already done most of the work. Hell, if Westwood was still around CnC3/KR would have been even better than they already are.

Gotta agree on this. Although I'm a dedicated fan of C&C and opened up my pre-ordered box of C&C4 like a little kid at Christmas, I was gravely disappointed. The death of Westwood to it was their biggest mistake. They were going towards the right direction and then it's just went to pot. Heck, I even loved C&C for N64 because WW was still in it. Renegade though...eh...that's a story for another day.

Epsilon Solmyr Well III was great and I heard 5 was pretty good (Never played it because I couldn't pull my friend away from III), so they seem to hit it right with the odd numbers. Maybe VII will happen? If you're looking for something that isn't shite while still seeming Might and Magic-y, I recommend Age of Wonders III. A bit more needs to be done before that game can be called perfect, but the devs are actively looking into (and constantly tweaking) the most glaring issues.
