Yep. The release of Vision and Masked HEROs is also what caused the TCG to adopt the all capital HERO naming scheme, since both archetypes worked generically with other HERO cards. I still remember the article previewing them in Shonen Jump years ago.

Time to another hero fact! In the GX manga,the Vision HEROS are the deck used by Aster(Edo) Phoenix, instead of the Destiny Hero deck that is used by him in the anime. The archetype's name, Vision Heros, comes from their effect that allow them to stay in the spell/trap zone, like "visions"(and in the manga, when they are in the S/T zones, only their heads are visible in a ghostly style, representing the said "visions)

The Vision HERO engine (Faris, Increase, Vyon) really elevated HERO decks to be what they are in modern Yugioh. They existed beforehand solely in the GX manga. Which makes me wonder when we’ll see the main deck Masked HERO monsters be printed and if they will further elevate HEROs. One thing is for sure, they’ll make Contrast HERO playable lol.

Philosopher's stone - Sabatiel anime version no questions asked. It's basically 3 destiny draws. When a "Winged Kuriboh" is destroyed, you can add this card from your Deck to your hand. After you activate that card and it resolves, add this card from your Deck to your hand. Frog the Jam wasn’t a misprint. It was named that before there was officially a Frog archetype. That meant all of the Frog support cards needed to exclude it in their texts. Eventually they errata’d the card and changed the name to Slime Toad, which I believe is the original OCG name for it. Now they no longer have to exclude it from Frog cards in the future. The same thing happened with Red-Eyes B. Chick, since its OCG name doesn’t include “Red-Eyes” despite being a support card for the archetype. They just changed the name to Black Dragon’s Chick and solved that problem too. One more example would be Harpie’s Brother, who has no relation to the “Harpie” archetype, it just had a similar artwork design. Now it’s called Sky Scout. There’s probably more but those are the most notable ones. Hey this could even make another video itself.

The problem is VH are not traps in the GY, so Uria would have 0 ATK on the field. You still need to get traps in the GY, which is annoying at least. However, the idea in itself is not bad.

To be fair witch raider's main power in duel links was "set 2 traps and then summon a 2700atk beater using them". It was a good beatdown monster, considering the average deck couldnt really special summon much anyway, except like. Marmiting captain luck.

God I hate Harpies decks in duel links. They're everywhere now and just seem to be better than before. Elegant egotist literally gets used repeatedly because it's not once per turn. My favourite though is Yusei and the shooting star road skill. Makes getting a boss monster easily if you manage to only get Junk Synchron to your hand. Dunno if any of that saw proper competitive play in the tcg

I don’t play TCG but seeing as how that strategy is not even competitive in duel links I don’t think so...it is cool but just way to easy to disrupt. Also, remember, in the TCG there are no character skills so there is no way you are getting Shooting Star Dragon out consistently on turn 1 or 2. That said I DO think Stardust Dragon used to be very good in the TCG, as well one of his other upgrades (which we don’t have in Duel Links) Shooting Quasar Dragon.

I love Vision HEROes and their really unique designs. Sure the archetype is pretty much designed to be a HERO engine rather than be its own deck, but I honestly prefer that. Same way I really like how Masked HEROes essentially only exist to give Elemental HEROes better Extra Deck monsters despite the GX manga having lackluster main deck Masked HEROes that KONAMI didn't bother releasing. Maybe it's pointless to say this but we need a Masked HERO top 100 video to round out this HERO series of videos.

Witchraider was actually incredibly strong for months without end, because trap cards were actually an important part of the deck. If you summon it, it was almost a guaranteed win. Adoration and Trinity are similar, because stats actually matter in Duel Links. Trinity is especially annoying, because. DL starts with only 4000 LP.

We call Trinity in duel links Tringod. When hero was a big deal in duel links he was the boss of the deck. You fusion a Trinity with 5000 attack and just finishs of the duel.

Polymerization might just be Number 1 because I can't think of anything worse. Just archetype exclusive Fusions for archetypes with only one fusion monster because that isn't any sort of waste.

@@MasterArchfiend if you asked me I would say that Predaprime fusion is worse. It's Super Poly, but without what makes Super Poly good.

@@samcarpenter7104 By that you mean lacking the OP Spell Speed 4 status and not being generic. Predaprime does require a Predaplant and the materials to be DARK, but Predaplants have means to use it and DARK is the most played attribute in the game so you'd be using it to go into something like Starving Venom just like you would with Super. For an archetype exclusive fusion card it is pretty good. Being worse than Super is just where most fusion cards lie.

At least with Polymerization is that at least you can use monsters on both your field and hand along with having a bazillion and 1 cards to support it.

@@samcarpenter7104 Okay, but if I'm playing a Predaplant deck, using my opponent's monsters as materials is just better since the archetype more or less makes that easier. It's also a Quick-Play so I can use it to disrupt my opponent. Not to the same extent as Super, but still. Also using materials from the hand is okay, but outdated. Every better fusion spell can use materials from better places or has an effect in addition to the standard Polymerization. Just about every archetype exclusive fusion has some way of getting brought out, making the only real advantage the original has is being generic. Honestly if I'm running Polymerization in any fusion deck, then it is because I am playing a deck that doesn't have a better option or because I am playing a yugioh game and just don't have the better option yet.

Just Curious why wasn't Rescue Rabbit a Dark Dino or a Water Aqua? I feel like it woulda been better tht way to have Rescue Tortoise 🐢, Starfish Etc. or a Rescuesaurus or something like that.

(11:30) I always take umbrage with how modern hard once per turn summon effects seem to specifically leave out Flip Summoning; they could just save text by having a "If this card is summoned" or "When this card is summoned" - but instead they specifically put Normal Summon or Special Summon, taking up extra text and specifically leaving out Flip Summoning... for whatever reason.

Seems like Konami wants to erase playing cards face-down from the game entirely, considering that, Link monsters, and the overpowered hand traps. Hell, they nerfed an already bad card, Darkness Approaches, when Link monsters came out simply because it was the only thing that could flip a Link monster face-down. You definitely bring up a good point about saving text space, though, considering how much they love _that,_ as well.

Interesting. You can say Top 2nd effects of ritual spells. Hymn of Light is similar to MAR although it's only protect ritual monsters Another example is Northwemko RS can protect her from targeting effects for 1 turn.
