1. Get your E Flat Major Scales & Arpeggios out.
2. Practice Efficiently! Write in measure numbers and bracket in phrases.
3. Practice slowly ON the string. Detache! (Practice slow at 60 BPM per note and work up the tempo 2 clicks at a time.)
4. Practice intonation using double stops.
5. Practice your shifts using ‘ghost’ notes.
6. Accent your string crossings.
7. Add in rhythm practice.
8. Map out your thumb and practice your lyrical thumb shifts.
9. Add your spiccato bow stroke.
10. Performance Practice! Run-through it without stopping.

I made this video to help aspiring high school cellists on their way to get into the Texas Music Educators Association's TMEA All-State Orchestra. They require two specific etudes every year for the audition requirements, and this is one of the selected etudes for the school year 2024-2025.
