The Howling is the best werewolf movie - ever. American Werewolf in London is OK (please don't ban me!). The opening scene in AAWIL is only about an hours drive from my house, and the village and pub (which is a house).

Great selection, seen most of them and all are very enjoyable. I will have to pick up Underworld, totally ignored that (not sure why, as you say, Kate Beckinsale). Ginger Snaps ?? Company Of Wolves ? Werewolf By Night ? Impossible to do a list as my lists are always changing. Yes, a series of new good Werewolf films would be wonderful, perhaps were-zombies (probably turned up in Z Nation or something)

Wolf Cop was one I knew I was going to take heat for not having on my list lol...and I am a big fan of the movie! It is so hard to do 10! I didn't want to cop-out and do 15 or 20 because there isn't enough werewolf films for that (imo)... I kept going back and forth on 5-10 and I kept hearing Stephen King's old lesson on writing: "sometimes you have to kill your darlings" lol... I'm also a big fan of "Wolfen" and "Wer"!! We need MORE werewolf movies!

More likely, there isnt enough GOOD werewolf movies. I mean, I got about 70 movies (Underworld movies not inclueded) about werewolfs but most of the are quite bad or mainly meeeeh 🤪 but, I am also werewolf fan so, got to get them all ..still many that are missing from my collection. Like most people, most horror fans my view on werewolf films is "Werewolves, witches, mummies, etc get a bad reputation." since good movies are so far in between. Most werewolf movies, witch movies,mummy movies are not very good. I've seen everyone of these movies, since I'm always on the look out for a good werewolf movie that I might actually like. Except for Howl. I use to watch Teen wolf all the time as a kid. I've been celebrating Halloween with a whole month of horror movie watching since at least 2008. Took till 2017 for me to extend that into September-October. Now I begin in August. But Teen wolf use to be a regular film I'd watch. Then I totally forgot all about it till this year. I went "Hey, I haven't seen Teen wolf in so long" and I fits perfectly with two of my favorite 80's vampire movies; Once bitten and My best friend is a vampire. Love those movies. High up my list of favorite vampire movies. I was disappointed with Wolf. Jack Nicolson isn't even the the best acting in the movie. I think the award for best acting in Wolf would be James Spader. His acting was the stand out. The film to me felt too much like a ....romance, watered down horror movie, with a little bit of classic 1930's/40's horror thrown in, and to be honest....kind of too "super hero". Just not what I want in a werewolf movie. Gave Cursed a watch last year. Thought I'd never watch it, but I finally did. Not as bad as everyone says...but still didn't enjoy it. Wouldn't watch it again. Bad moon, I honestly don't know what to make of it. It's really good at parts, but then at other parts it kind of has a "kids movie" feel to it. Which can be good. I love for instance Monster squad. That as a family "kids movie" feel to it too, but it fits....Bad moon, not so much. i think the whole dog thing could of been better. But would I watch it again? Yes. Over all, my werewolf movies are An American werewolf in London. Silver bullet. Ginger snaps. Teen wolf. An American werewolf in Paris. [ I can forgive the bad CGI. This film is PURE 1997. You can tell it's specifically 1997. It's like if you took American pie, Eurotrip and An American werewolf in London and mixed them together and this movie came out before American pie and Eurotrip. Super 97. Great late 90's vibes. I don't care what anyone says. I love it. Great soundtrack. The characters are all good. The acting is pretty solid. Great vibes. Good decent story. Super easy to watch and enjoy. The only bad thing about the film is the CGI and honestly....I don't even see the film as a remake or a sequel. In my mind it has really no relation to the original film. Other then the fact that the werewolf can see the dead, the name, and basic idea of the movie. It's so far removed from the original film in my mind that I can truly enjoy it. it doesn't ruin the original film for me at all. So I can see why some people wouldn't like it because it's a "sequel to one of the best werewolf movies" but is it?! Not to me.] Ginger snaps 2. The beast must die. Those are my werewolf movies. Can't get into The howling. The story doesn't do it for me. The werewolf stuff isn't really that interesting, other then the werewolf effects. If you want to count it, I actually did end up liking the film Snow hollow, but it's not really a werewolf movie. Silver bullet use to be my number one favorite werewolf movie. A childhood favorite.

Great list! At least it wasn't 10-to-2, and the AAWiL... like most. Because, after all, An American Werewolf in London has some major flaws: 1st is that the love story is so cringe! The two actors had zero-chemistry to make it believable. Then there's the opening sequence, and "stick to the roads," like werewolves are repelled by tarmac? And if David & Jack randomly wandered off into the moors, how did the villagers know exactly where to find them when the werewolf attacked? Moreover, these villagers are country-folk, and even if the werewolf was one of their neighbors, and it could be killed by normal means, why didn't they do it years ago instead of huddling in fear in the local pub? Although I really like AAWiL, it's not on my top 10. In fact, I liked An American Werewolf in Paris better, because it didn't have such gaping plot-holes that one could pilot a Luxury Liner through

Younger people won't remember this but Teen-Wolf sat in the can for a couple years because the studio thought it was a flop. After Back To The Future though, Michael J Fox was hot and they put it out to take advantage of his popularity. They were blown away that their green light mistake was a huge hit.

I'm obviously an 80's guy. These are my favorites, in no particular order. The Howling Howling II: Your sister is a Werewolf (I know its bad...I don't care.) In the Company of Wolves Silver Bullet American Werewolf in London Project Metalbeast Wolf Bad Moon Wolf Cop Dog Soldiers ...And Yes, Underworld IS a werewolf movie! Thanks for this. @@AVAPopCulture Find it. Watch it. Kane Hodder plays a Werewolf that they experimentally turn his skin to metal for use as a bio-weapon. Of course the plan backfires and Metalbeast runs amok. Great flick from 1995 non-stop action and the werewolf is menacing. You'll love it.

I was going to complain that you missed Silver Bullet but you had it at #1. The movie is based on a Stephen King novella called Cycle of the Werewolf. Cycle of the Werewolf was originally intended to be a calendar with 12 vignettes. I think 9 or 10 of the original calendar scenes made it into the movie.

I like when people leave comments not agreeing with your "personal top 10". Everyone experiences watching movies differently and how they were exposed to them (at a young age or later in life or who you first watched it with). So those factors contribute to how much you love and have affection for certain movies. Werewolf movies have always been one of my top favorites and nothing will ever replace "An American Werewolf In London" being my favorite. I seen it at the theater when it first came out (same with The Howling that same year) and also seen it the following summer at our drive-in as the first feature of a 5 horror movie all night marathon (1982's Cat People was the 2nd feature can't remember after that). I was 13 in 1981 when both An American Werewolf In London & The Howling came out and they've been my #1 & #2 ever since followed by Silver Bullet at #3 (seen that in the theater), The Wolf Man (1941) at #4 and Dog Soldiers, Ginger Snaps or Bad Moon in the #5-7 spots (on any given day they could switch spots). The 2010 The Wolf Man remake would be #8, Late Phases at #9 for it's unique plot and Cursed at #10 (just for Christina Ricci alone...love her). Howl was close to making it along with Hammer's Curse Of The Werewolf and a few others. Have you seen or heard of The Beast Of Bray Road or Big Bad Wolf (with the talking and swearing werewolf) ? I have so many low budget werewolf movies in the collection that kind of just become forgotten but you can't forget a talking and swearing werewolf.

Ok list, good movies all 👍 Underworld franchise is good , though, only first amd third movie are worth to rewatch. If I would make a top10 list I ques most of those would be same in my list also. I would replace Underworld and Teenwolf by Late Phases 2014 (werewolf desing is stupid but everything else, nearly perfect) and Game of Werewolves 2011 (spanish horror comedy, wwolf desing in this is awesome).

I actually love Cursed. I really wish we could see the original Wes Craven cut. The uncut version is much better. Teen Wolf is also pretty fun. I'd suggest watching Wolfen if you haven't seen it. It's a great, slow burn film. Very different for a werewolf film. The Beast must Die is also a fun werewolf film that is pretty unique.

I don’t think your list is controversial, I predicted what your top five would be b4 watching. However, I do love silverbullet, but I still think American Werewolf in London is better all around. In my mind, the use of music, the settings like the moors, subway, movie theater, slaughtered lamb are more iconic , the cinematography is grittier and more realistic, and the love story is really well done. Now, out of the franchises with sequels, which are better/worse. And which are better/worse than the novel they’re based from?

Underworld... yeah, have to agree that the werewolf design is one of the best of all time and they got the juggernaut violence of a lycanthrope pretty right. Also agree, Teen Wolf is totally a "werewolf movie". Jen and I's love for Silver Bullet is also BIG BIG so absolutely love that it's your #1. American Werewolf is hard to argue with but it's also obvious for most number 1s. Spoiler Alert: My number 1 is also not AWiL althought it also ranks super high. Loved the vid and super appreciate the shout out! Looking forward to a time in the foreseeable future that I can film some fresh content. Oh... almost forgot to mention but I have an original script for Cursed before all the changes and I'm looking forward to reading it. From my understanding, it is FAR superior to the BS shenanigans that went down.

The Howling is my personal favourite Werewolf film. But Silver Bullet is right up there. I would recommend a film called 8 for Silver aka The Cursed that has an original spin on the gothic werewolf. But I also love Hammers Curse of the Werewolf and Legend of the werewolf which is very hard to get a decent copy of these days.

Before you list started, I was like this dude BETTER have Underworld on here hahaha. Have you seen Werewolves Within? It's 1 on my more recently favorite werewolf movies. Also Wolves with Jason Momoa, but you have to find the untried Bluray (which might be hard to find now) its got an extended sex scene with the rated version is cut down a lot.

Great list Chase! I somehow knew Silver Bullet was going to be number 1 dunno why... And Teen Wolf is a total classic and as you said a perfect gateway werewolf movie. It definitely was for me when i saw it as a kid. Between that and Gmork from Neverending Story they gave me a love fear relationship with werewolves from a young age. I´m a comic artist and I recently finished working on a young adult 200 page graphic novel about werewolves and, you guessed it, basketball. Childhood dream come true.

Yes the cursed is great, a little hard to get hold of and has the most unique take on the werewolf I have seen to date, also great camera work, the killing of the gypsies in their camp shot in one take from the top of the hill, is really stand out👍

The only one i think of that wasnt on your list that i thought would be is Ginger Snaps. I also love Silver Bullet and it doesnt get the love it deserves. Ive been to many of the locations in and around Wilmington, NC. New sub here. Loving your channel

I agree, I don't think Silver Bullet gets the love it should - the atmosphere of that movie is so engrossing to me...Ginger Snaps was a hard one to leave off but in the end, I went with the ones I usually go back to and watch the most- not that I don't love the others but ya gotta break the tie somewhere lol...can't go wrong with Ginger Snaps though!

Thank you! "WOLF" with Jack Nicholson is about 16 years older than the "Wolfman" remake with Benicio Del Toro! I wasn't as big of a fan of the Benicio film when it came out but I'm ready to give it another try!
