They are just so majestic! But the way their faces squish up when they tag the rat is just too cute 🥰 Question 🙋♀️ does the higher venom yield apply to all baby rattle snakes or just the ones you showed tonight? ❤️🦮❤️

Notice the scale that slides up to protect their eyes when they strike.. makes it look like it is squishing. LOL And the ontogenetic changes from neonate through adulthood they're finding a lot throughout the research of the rattlesnake (Crotalus) species but also Bothrops. It's amazing ALL there is to learn about snakes! They hold so many secrets. Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching! 🙏🐍💯👍

Glad you enjoyed it! We love the central and south American rattlesnakes! As far as reading interesting research, go to Google scholar, then just go wild using search terms for what you want to find, and filters are great for the newest documents but not all are public unless you're a facility (education or research or medical) but it will still tease you with the abstract. I have no idea why, but I am absolutely fascinated with those 2 types of snakes. I looked them up and other than a handful worldwide, mainly Australia, those Mexican/Yucatan rattlesnakes are as deadly as any snake you'd ever hope to not get bitten by. They are rated the same as each other by that site you showed me. They blow the Mohave out of the water according to the ratings also.
@VenomCentral3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely fantastic that you're reading that stuff, and I'm glad to pass on any other sites that you are interested in studying! Education is our thing, and I'm stoked to know you enjoy the species as much as we do!! Hope you can come and check them out in person! 🐍🙏👍💯💪

Okay, just to clarify… Tzabcan/Yucatán/Neo Tropical are all one and the same?
@VenomCentral3 жыл бұрын
Not exactly, but be sure- they are very very similar. The taxonomy even has changed back and forth. 😬 (They're all Crotalus) and then broken down from there. (Neotropical I showed are durissus and the Mexican Rattlesnakes are their own species) It's a scientific taxonomy thing, and that alone is hard to explain and I'm definitely not the taxonomy science guy, my science is behavioral, but you're observant! 💪💯👍🐍

Willie, I found an email address for Venom Central. I was wondering if I could forward you that post we were discussing earlier today, via email, since it has links and is lengthy? I can also add some pics directly, instead of including links. It would simply be cleaner looking and easier for you to view and digest. We could perhaps finish the discussion there as well, without clogging a video with unrelated chat. I had no way to do it by cell phone earlier today and every time I tried to send you this basic reply and include an email address, apparently KZbin treats email addresses in chat as spam and wouldn't let it send. I think I can simply copy paste it on my desktop and send it via email. If you try to hold down and highlight text in existing messages in KZbin on a cell phone, it will try to create a reply to it. Thanks for your time and consideration.
