As someone who has seen the show for 10 Years now. I agree with the majority of these. Im so glad that Tony decided to take a break from the show, He was always getting paired with those reality stars that just weren't into the competition other than a quick paycheck.

To be fair, especially in the show's early seasons, the cha cha cha was one of the two main Week 1 dances (the other being the Viennese Waltz). The fact that the worst contestants had that dance contributes to its repetition on this list. Since there are ten "standard" ballroom and Latin styles, it would be interesting to see a list for the best/worst in each style in the show's history.

Yeah he was rarely lucky in getting a good partner. Audrina Patridge and Chynna Phillips were pretty good but they each got eliminated way too early. Stacy Keibler was the best in her season but she got 3rd place. Melissa Rycroft is his most successful partnership, 3rd place and 3rd highest scoring average in season 8 and 1st place and highest overall scoring average in season 15: all-stars. He was so fun with Melissa and got so excited and happy whenever he was complimented for his choreography, it was so sweet to see him finally win and with one of the best contestants ever!

He was a last minute sub for his son Romeo Miller, but this was their FOURTH dance. The judges went so far as to announce how much training he had done in that time (Think a total of less than ten hours in four weeks) versus how much some of the other couples had done (20+ hours each week). He spent more time plugging his shoes than dancing on the show. That was a travesty. Thankfully his son did compete ten seasons later and was actually quite good.

He was a pain during rehearsals when he showed up which wasn't often. Overall he was a jerk. I understand he was a sub for his son but he could have taken this oppunity and ran with it. Instead he did nothing. People voted for him because it was so bad it was like a joke to keep him in this long. Ashley was really unlucky with this one.

+lostinthelookingglas ALL the women are supposed to wear dance shoes with 2-ish inch heels. It sucks for the ladies who are less coordinated in heels, but it's a pretty wide rule. Sometimes the ladies get away with other footwear depending on the theme of the performance and luck (I've seen tennis shoes several times), but still, the majority of their routines call for heels.

I wonder what the heel size requirements are for dwts? I do ballroom dancing and my heels are 1.5” and super comfy. Maybe she also got shoes that were just too tight or too big. I had to do a jive once in awful shoes that did not fit well and it was a bad time, so if the problem was her shoes I can understand her stiffness

@@kaileewalden3586 yes, and if the shoes are well made professional dance shoes, they should also help, not hurt, no matter the heel. Which one would think they'd have with the show's budget. However, looking at some of the heels, i really wonder if they are all professional dance shoes. I remember when i unknowing, would dance in cheaper heels. The difference between a wellmade and professional shoe and dancing confidently during a routine in not well made shoes is very different. Either way, it really is up to the designers to make sure everyone has shoes comfortable for them, regardless of the heel or what they're dancing.

"What is it with the chachas?" Well, Mrs. Narrarator, as an ex-ballroom dancer, I can tell you that the chacha is one of the more challenging dances. It's a lot more technical and requires a good deal more muscle memory than some of the other dances. In a lot of the other dances, there is more time to be expressive and use that to cover up flaws, but that isn't as much an option with this dance. The speed of it alone requires impeccable balance; and if you're not used to dancing in heels, its gonna be a real rough time.

It's also paradoxically seen as an easy dance as it's rhymically simple so often given to people who aren't good as a week one or two dance so you get a lot of really bad ones.

@@jfarmer911 After watching the show more consistently over the last few seasons, I've noticed that there really is no logic (from a learning-to-dance standpoint) in when they pick to do which dances. I'm sure the producers just want the show to be theatrical and diverse, but if they were smart and actually wanted people to do well, everyone would be doing salsa, rumba, or waltz the first week and no one would even touch say, quickstep or jive, until the final week.

@@hannahg5479 They used to have pairs of dances so but even then the Cha cha cha was a first week dance along with the waltz, then again the rumba was given to ladies in the second week and some series some of them got it as a first dance. It used to in the very early series - CCC or waltz then rumba or quickstep then tango or jive then foxtrot or paso and finally samba or VW (in series three in the first two serieses everyone did a samba and a group VW). The salsa didn't come in until series four and was the fourth dance or some contestants whilst others did a foxtrot. In series five it was first danced as a fifth dance by some whilst others did a VW. It became a week one dance or some of the ladies in series six. I'm not sure rumba is an easy dance either though in series four of Strictly the two best Latin dancers in the competition didn't get on with it at all admittedly one of them was very reserved and the other one was seventeen but even so. It's been performed as a final dance precisely five times in eighteen series and two of them were judges picks - it's the only dance to never score a 40 in the show's history (although at least some of the 39 scorers were robbed) and not many do that well with it.

They're homophones. "U" is pronounced with a double O sound in Spanish. Rumba and Roomba should sound the same if you're pronouncing the dance correctly.

Wait a minute. Derek had a partner with no feet. Remember the girl that was severely over weight. She was having such a hard time, sometimes she couldn't practice. Bindy had never danced before and had never worn heels before. I remember when the overweight girl won the mirror ball, mark ballast and another guy picked up Derek and put him on their sjoulders. Derek said, put me down, this is about her, not me. What a guy. Their is a reason he has had so many partners win mirror balls, he knows how to teach dancing and work around his partners imperfections.

Not gonna lie I like when they have older contestants that are obviously not gonna win but do genuinely try to do their best. The stars that suck are the ones that don’t even pretend to practice and are just in it for the attention. I much prefer the earlier episodes because it really is people that have little dance experience but wanna try and learn something when it’s the same 3 pros getting all the celebrities with professional dance experience at the end it’s borning

I’m from the UK and don’t watch DWTS ( we have the original on which it’s based Strictly Come Dancing) but I’m laughing at all the comments about Tony and his partners. We have our own Tony known professionally as Anton and he also gets all the no hopers. He’s had reality stars, politicians, journalists, actresses the lot. A couple of years ago he got a partner who could actually dance and they made it to the final ( but first to be eliminated) it was even on the evening news that Anton du Beke had made it to the final of Strictly

The Cha-Cha-Cha is one of the first dances they give the contestants on the show, usually in week 1, which means all of the bad dancers are still around to perform that dance. That's why so many Cha Chas are terrible.

I'm glad they didn't include some of the much older stars in this list. For example, Cloris Leachman, who was 83 (I think) at the time. While her dancing wasn't as powerful and spot-on as her competitors, she kept it entertaining, gave it her all and did a great job for her age. She made it to round 6 or 7 if I remember correctly.

Couple thoughts. For one, I think there were worse dances than some on the list (Kim K’s Rumba wasn’t good but also not 2nd worst dance in history). For two, I think it’s interesting that Joe and Jenna are on this list after only week... I have a feeling if he doesn’t get eliminated soon he’s going to be considered one of the worst contestants in its history. Lastly, Tony always got the short straw with partners. Always felt bad for him, he certainly has gone through a lot on the show, huh?
