Excellent list as always! No surprises on this list - if anyone watches well known KZbin car mechanics such as Car Wizard or Scotty Kilmer, this is exactly what they say over and over in trying to caution people about wasting their money. If there is one saving grace these days it's that none of these bad choices are "cheap" anymore. That used to be how some folks got suckered into buying a lemon (Dodge Journey or Caliber for example), but now with even the terrible options costing a lot of money, I would _hope_ that makes people think twice and do a little more research before buying.

He’s making false statements for sure. In Europe where I’m from there are tons of VWs / Audis which are pretty old and still on the road. If Taos has the same DSG transmission as Golf, it’s a great unit used in Audis as well. Also, he says VW is expensive to service. My question is: compared to what? Service your VW as recommended and they’re good cars.

Good video! We are considering buying a new CR V likely a 2024. I have a couple of reservations which are the 1.5 litre turbo with the oil dilution complaints and head gasket problems which are new to me. Are these items still an issue to your knowledge? Thank you!
@martyi398 Жыл бұрын
I Would consider the Toyota Rav4 or the Mazda CX-5 or 50, these two have naturally aspirated engine options (instead of turbo) and traditional torque convertor transmission's (instead of CVT) with great consumer ratings!
@paulshumway5880 Жыл бұрын
I traded my 2017 CRV in after one year because the oil dilution was so bad. What made me angry was that Honda wouldn’t admit they had a problem or stand behind their vehicle. In China they were required to buy all their vehicles back from consumers because of the faulty Earthdreams engine.

I work on a lot of police cars specifically a lot ford explorers they take a beating and yes they break but I would consider them more reliable then the average suv however I cannot say anything about the sync 3 and touch screen responses controls ect.

I have a 2006 Matrix, manual transmission. Last fall I actually had to put a new clutch in, which I've been putting off for a couple years, well, at least a year. All in all I have spent abiut 15,000 for all repairs and maintenance. I will say I do keep up on everything whether it's tune ups or tires or any noise I hear. It probably is time to get a new car but I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money and nobody makes standard transmissions anymore. I hate automatics.

My last car was a brand new jeep compass. I liked it for 6 months until the center screen would randomly stop working. Also the car “jumped” randomly while driving. I’ve never experienced anything like that before with any of my previous cars. I traded the compass in for a Mazda cx-90 recently and I’m never looking back.

It's worth noting most new cars, are designed to burn oil something to do with emissions laws. This info came from a head mechanic at Toyota. Doesn't make any sense burning oil lowers emissions?

You can still get the Fiat 500X? We test drove one, along with a Jeep Renegade, about a year after they came out. Our route took us down a side street with a speed bump. The Renegade bounced over it no problem (but it did have something loose behind a panel). When we drove the Fiat, we took the speed bump a lot slower - maybe 20 km/h - and the rear suspension completely bottomed out producing a nasty jar through the cabin. Immediate loss of interest.

Actually surprised neither Hyundai or KIA on your list, which is good! End of August I brought a 2023 Hyundai Kona for 28000! Don’t need a big SUV since already have a full size pickup! Kona has all wheel drive and a sun roof! No EV, EV’s are lithium junk! Worked the battery industry till I retired last summer!!!!

Unfortunately the dealer service departments seem to be a huge part of the reliability problem. The expert service they proclaim is non existent at the dealership where I bought my SUV. every time my oil is changed the oil life fails to be reset and on one service visit one of my lock lugs was removed and not reinstalled but they offered to sell me another set. Also the tire that it was missing from developed a sidewall bubble and had to be replaced.

I plan to buy a car next month and I am between Toyota Yaris Cross and Ford Puma. Yaris cross is hybrid and Toyota has a great record for reliable cars. Ford cars are not as reliable. Puma has an EcoBoost engine that is supported by a 48V battery and an electric motor and a Powershift gear box. These are parts that had created problems in the Focus. But Puma has the good looks, it is CHEAPER, the insurance premiums are lower compared to the Yaris Cross and is more spacious and luxurious. What do you think about these two cars?
