Excellent list as always! No surprises on this list - if anyone watches well known KZbin car mechanics such as Car Wizard or Scotty Kilmer, this is exactly what they say over and over in trying to caution people about wasting their money. If there is one saving grace these days it's that none of these bad choices are "cheap" anymore. That used to be how some folks got suckered into buying a lemon (Dodge Journey or Caliber for example), but now with even the terrible options costing a lot of money, I would _hope_ that makes people think twice and do a little more research before buying.

Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep are now owned by Stillantis, which can only manufacture a POS vehicle. The Jeep Renegade is a Fiat 500X. The new Dodge Hornet is a Peugeot. The list goes on. I would like to have your advice on what is better to buy between a hybrid or a phev. Same brand, brand new, same price, because of the incentives. Somebody says that the phev is more complicated and more expensive to repair. Talk about Kia sorento.

I have a 2006 Matrix, manual transmission. Last fall I actually had to put a new clutch in, which I've been putting off for a couple years, well, at least a year. All in all I have spent abiut 15,000 for all repairs and maintenance. I will say I do keep up on everything whether it's tune ups or tires or any noise I hear. It probably is time to get a new car but I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money and nobody makes standard transmissions anymore. I hate automatics.

The 1.5 liter engine in the Escape & Bronco Sport is a 3 cylinder engine. Everyone gets this wrong. Did you do any research? Do your opinions come from other vidoes. The Equinox & Terrain haven't used the 2.0 turbo 4 for a while now. The 3.6L V6 in the Blazer is a different engine than the one in the Equinox from before 2018.

Had a 2017 GMC Terrain, never had any problems with it. Traded it in for A 2024 GMC terrain and am liking it very much to date. 1.5 turbo with 9 speed tranny not a power house, but gets the job done. I guess it depends a lot of what a person expects out of their vehicle and what they use it for. I do agree however that all chrysler vehicles are crap. I can attest to that because I have owned several during my lifetime and yes, they are crap.

I've owned 3 minis. They run great until around 50,000 miles and are fantastic in the snow when they aren't in the shop. After 50K miles they need everything every time you open the hood. Opening the hood will cost you a minimum charge of $600 if it's a small fix. No oil change was ever just an oil change. There was always a long list of other items needing to be done and there was always a puddle of something under them. Timing chains. Water pumps. Oil leaks. More oil leaks 3 months after fixing the other oil leaks. Vacuum seal leaks. More vacuum seal leaks 2 months after fixing the last round. Check engine lights randomly on and off. Orange check engine light on every other week putting the car into limp mode making it feel like a 30 year old Corolla.

I Would consider the Toyota Rav4 or the Mazda CX-5 or 50, these two have naturally aspirated engine options (instead of turbo) and traditional torque convertor transmission's (instead of CVT) with great consumer ratings!
@paulshumway5880 Жыл бұрын
I traded my 2017 CRV in after one year because the oil dilution was so bad. What made me angry was that Honda wouldn’t admit they had a problem or stand behind their vehicle. In China they were required to buy all their vehicles back from consumers because of the faulty Earthdreams engine.

Man, its not just the price of the vehicle you like to buy to consider, you should also think of the vehicles cost of insurance. I am almost considering to buy either a brand new Honda Pilot or Toyota Grand Highlander. But I hesitated and ended up deciding not to buy after all. Why? Because of these “greedy, misleading, unscrupolous” insurance companies. I’ve been a client of this “popular” insurance company way back since 2019. I have 2 vehicles insured with them. One is a minivan, and the other is a 4 door sedan. I have good driving record, age 57 years old, have been driving since I was 26. No matter how good my record is, no matter how old and fully paid my both vehicles are, my insurance only give me a little bit of a discount everytime my policy is renewing (to be perfectly honest, they almost did’nt give any discount if I did’nt insisted to). I asked them why are they so “adamant” in giving me discount considering my good driving record and age. The insurance agent replied: “O, thats all we could give you, the cost of living is rising every year”. Then I said: “Well, the cost of living is rising, but my salary is not, my age is rising but I still maintained good driving record”. Few days later, I told the Honda and the Toyota salesman that sorry I decided not to buy after all. If either of you could convince my insurance agent to give me a better rate, then you could be sure I will buy the SUV.

You can still get the Fiat 500X? We test drove one, along with a Jeep Renegade, about a year after they came out. Our route took us down a side street with a speed bump. The Renegade bounced over it no problem (but it did have something loose behind a panel). When we drove the Fiat, we took the speed bump a lot slower - maybe 20 km/h - and the rear suspension completely bottomed out producing a nasty jar through the cabin. Immediate loss of interest.

Terrain and Equinox are not compact SUVs. They are considered mid size. Most SUVs are overpriced. You keep repeating there are better options out there but never mention those alternatives. I would give at least one or two alternatives.
