Yeah, for the people who keep asking why Sonic Adventure isn't on here... It's because it did good on it's initialed release. The list isn't how the games holds up now. SA1 did fine on the Dreamcast, it was praised by critics. While these games on this video are more likely given reviews saying they are bad. Just felt the need to comment about this due to the amount of -Gamegrump's sheeps- people not understanding the video. Also, Sonic Blast doesn't count, they are still sprites.

Nintendo did a greta job of transitioning their games from 2 to 3D. Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and DK all had great 3D games on their first attempt.

Sonic Adventure 1 is somewhat decent, but a major problem is to answer "Is it the first Sonic 3D game?" Technically Sonic Labyrinth is the first 3D game. But graphically isn't. Then you have Sonic Championship/the Fighters, but is it a Sonic game per se? Sonic R is overall a good entry, but already older compared to the other entries. So yeah, pretty complicated to pick an actual first Sonic 3D game.

What made Final Fight streetwise worse it was M for mature and that is why the sales were very poor on final fight streetwise. I find it meaningless to push Final Fight streetwise to the M rating when really it can be T for Teen. The original Final Fight was T rated violence. Kiss Final Fight goodbye. This game was the worse comeback they made.

Why do people hate on MK4? I remember it being amazing when I played it. Me and my friends could not stop playing at one point. It was their first time working with 3D and motion capture technology you can't expect developers who were learning something new to make the best looking 3D game of all time. I actually found Worms 3D to be fine. Maybe that was because it was the first Worms game that I played, but, I mean, if you can't see the enemy worms, I found the minimap to be a decent guide to where they were. On certain maps such as The Mighty Kong or A Leek In The Vegetable Patch, the massive heights of the buildings meant that weapons such as Super Sheep, Homing Missiles, Jet Packs and Air Strikes became fairly crucial. It also added an extra element of taking cover which could always be negated by a well-placed grenade or stick of dynamite. The main issue, I found, was how the AI was dumb as rocks.

I see it like this: The N64/PSONE/Dreamcast era and the XBOX/PS2/Gamecube era parallels greatly with the 8-bit and 16 bit era. In its inception, nes games felt limited and a bit archaic in comparison to the snes ones, which but off from what was accomplished in the last generation. The same thing happened in 3D with the fifth and sixth console generation.

I get your point but at least when it released, people praised it because of it’s ambition. Say whatever you want about the game, but for its time is really ambitious and it won several game of the years when it released while almost all of the games in this list were panned at released.

Contra always tried to have diversity, it didn't worked that well but it was in the concept since the very beginning.

I really liked Street Fighter Ex Plus Alpha. In fact i liked it alot. Worms 3D is decent, just not as good as 2d. MK4 wasnt bad. It was darker but really fun and the new MK are still 3D. For a good 3D beat em up i suggest the Yakuza series. And the old PS1 Fighting Force 1. And even Prince of Persia 3D was cool. I had Bubsy 3D, it did have alot of problems.

I had to stop and comment when I saw MK4, sure it wasnt Truly 3d really, its still side scroll fighting but you could strafe left and right. But yea MK4 and MK Gold I loved them both, even though they did have some flaws.

First of all, the title is wrong. This isn't comparing 2D gameplay vs 3D gameplay, cause Final Fight and Golden Axe have always been 3D gameplay that utilizes depth. This is more like Polys vs Pixels. 1:34 interesting...I like Worms 3D. I say it works. Also, what about Mario 64? Just because it was a cool game, that doesn't change the fact that there was so much more humor in 2D Super Mario World for SNES, which was all but missing entirely in Mario 64. A major selling point of Mario, is the fact that he is Mario...."IT'SA MEEEE!!!" Mario 64 was a humongous step back in humor and personality, those Polys sucked most of the life out of everyone's favorite Italian Stereotype, leaving behind a near lifeless pile of polygons, which to this day NEVER EVER fully recovered from. And although it is easily debatable, many will say, Mario 64 was a gargantuan leap backwards in gameplay as well. Also, I see they don't have Superman 64 on this list, they must be happy with that jump into 3D. MOJO Lists deserve the hate they get haha! White Knights, arm yourselves....haha

Mega Man X7 was actually a pretty good game gameplay wise but its story and voice acting was crap. Also MegaMan (called X in the game) is playable but only later on and you can even get him a gliding suit.

Technically, I still say Sonic X-Treme was the first 3D game, even if it never saw a release. The fan remake proved how much potential it had to be a very solid game and it is VERY fun to play; much funner than Sonic Adventure, even. I just loved Sonic's sprites, the idea for his 3D and more. It looked so unique for its time and I am glad someone remade it. And, thank goodness that the game had an entire soundtrack that was found as well, as it really makes it feel like a solid Sonic title. I just wanted to say that for those that thought that game was bad. In my opinion, it was on the same level of innovation as Mario, as they made Sonic 2D so that he could look very good walking around those 3D environments. And, the camera being fish-eye was so that you could see ahead of you. The game had barely any pop-in at all, that I could notice, and it just ran very smoothly. Knowing how much work SEGA put into Sonic, he might've ran just as smooth on the Saturn, too.
