Destiny Board is by far the worst card ever made in yugioh. It's ironic because it has a win condition, in theory it could easily beat your opponent if you go first, use it and dont lose in 4 of your opponents turns. But heres the reason its the worst. You need 4 useless spellcards to exist in your deck, you could draw these spellcards and it might as well be the same as skipping your draw phase. They don't do anything, can't be activated from the hand either. Also destiny board is defeated by a single backrow removal card. Even if your opponent doesn't draw backrow removal, They will still have a card advantage over you since destiny board by itself is a -1 since it doesn't do anything besides sit on the field and creates a slow moving win condition. It's just 1 less card your opponent needs to worry about while pushing for game. If destiny board is destroyed, you now have 4 useless letters in your deck that can never be used again, unless you run mask of darkness or something (goat format) I use goat format just to give destiny board the highest chance of succeeding. Modern yugioh would straight up butcher that strategy 100% of the time. any competitive deck wins within 6 turns of the game. destiny board requires 8 turns, well 9 counting the turn you set the board down. opponents turn flip F, your turn I which is 3, turn 5 N, turn 7 A, turn 8 is your opponents last turn to beat you, turn 9 is your last turn completing the board. Destiny board in OG yugioh with no ban list means people are running triple card destructions, delinquent duos, confiscations, ect. triple pot of greed graceful and can generally use 2 monster reborns and a united we stand to burst you in a turn. having a slow strategy like destiny board won't work. Not to mention triple Harpies feather duster + 1-2 heavy storms mean backrows don't exist in OG yugioh. Chaos format doesn't help either, while delinquent duo got banned helping DB's case, This is a format where people are reviving treeborn every turn and dropping monarchs like mobius or thestalos. if your letter gets hit out of your hand, then your board will never complete. Also confiscation was returned to 1 which might just be worse for DB's case as your opponent can simply hit a letter and make the whole strategy fall apart, or they hit the spirit reaper, the only card in your hand that you could possible wall with while building letters and then they just sweep you.
