2:34 Explanation: The middle hits of Mario's UpB do 0.5% damage iirc which the game simply rounds down to 0%. Also -Happened at the top of Smashville, which has a notoriously low ceiling. -the Sonic player has just done UpB -> Uair, so its likely that they are DIing up(perhaps even up and in) during the hit, which is the worst DI here. -the middle hits of Mario's UpB have set knockback so that they link into each other. Positioning meant that didn't link to the subsequent hits knocked quite far despite 0% -Mario was 78% and so I believe he had Stage 1 Rage.

+Daniel Adeyoju Sorry for kicking up an old comment and all, but this clip always interested me. For starters, I thought "stage one" of rage was 90%? And secondly, I didn't think Mario's Up-B, Up Special, what have you; acted like Doc. Mario's or Marth's Up-B's respectively. Wherein there's stronger knockback during the beginning frames of the move and behind the character. Because this was off screen, we can't say for sure where the Up-B connected, but I'd say it would be near Mario's head, which confuses me because how does that not link into the other hits of the move as you said, because that would be in the correct position. Especially because Sonic is below or to the side of Mario attempting to Up Air or Forward Air Mario.

No, smash 4 doesn't have phantom hits. What happened was the middle hit of Mario's up-b does 0.5 percent but a lot of knockback, pushing Sonic over the blastzone.

Zero to death doesn't refer to your character's percent. It's putting your opponent from 0% to death, not that you havent been hit.

+Alexander Groman No he's right, though his wording is awkward. 0-death means you kill your opponent once without taking any damage yourself, however you do not have to be at 0% to perform a 0-death on an opponent. The only rule is you can't take any damage AFTER your opponent spawns. If you're at 30% and kill your opponent, then kill him again without taking any more damage, that's a 0-death.
