I agree! The argument Tom always gives is he never wants to make the guys play something they don't want to or that he knows that won't like. But there are so many times Tom (or Sam/zee) says "oh I haven't played that" and it would be fine for them to play it.

I 100% agree-I think it would be really cool to hear about each year how you tried to play each other’s games that you HAVE NOT played before (or maybe only played once a very long time ago). It would make an interesting new segment if some are played live or add to the conversation for the following 2019 year list (if that game is still on someone’s list). As the saying goes, “Friends who play each other’s Top 100 games together, makes videos somewhat in proximity to each other.” I definitely can see that on a DT Logo T-Shirt.

Personally, I'd rather watch a new review than see them playing a game we already know they don't like. I think that's in Tom's head too: for every weird gameplay video, there is a game that is not getting played for reviews so he has to weigh the value of that in addition to the fact that it's not really fun to play games you hate.

I have both Mysterium and Deception and I love them both. Two very different games and feelings. There is nothing like being the murderer in Deception.

Just to be clear-Mythic Battles: Pantheon has multiple boards, Mechs vs. Minion has a modular board. I really like the production quality of both and own both...and I consider both board games. I only consider something a miniatures games if Movement needs to actually be measured with a ruler, but I guess lines are really being blurred with games like X-wing with template measurement...but, ultimately, I guess that’s a miniatures game. The line gets more and more blurred with all these board games with high quality minis doing “dungeon crawls@. Does LOS considered measuring? IMO-no. If I had to give a criteria for a Miniatures game, I’d say in the strictest sense: 1. It has no board (ie, measuring) 2. The main components are Miniatures I mean I could add a lot of other small factors (like custom terrain or team building), but to streamline the definition, that works for me. As to the original subjective argument, it comes down to what is more important to you-for me MB:P wins, but I absolutely love games that come with high quality inserts like MvM. they both have high quality components, but MvM does wins-hands down-on bang for your buck.....So says my bank account.

I don't know why Deception and Mysterium keep getting compared, with one being posited as a 'killer' of the other. They have some similar mechanisms but one is a hidden traitor game and the other a co-op which makes for two totally different feels and often two totally different audiences (I'm firmly in the Mysterium camp)

I haven't played Patriots & Redcoats but based on what Sam said he liked about the game it sounds like he should give Secret Hitler a whirl, it has a very similar voting system (Chancellor draws three cards, gives two to the President and the president picks one of those, all without talking to each other.) It's also a very fast game (about 15 minutes to play) and has an interesting twist where Hitler doesn't know who his allies are but his allies know who he is and are trying to help him win.

I really like this current format (Tom, Zee, Sam and People's Choice all in the same video), it gives the guys a lot of opportunity to crosstalk about all four of the lists simultaneously and is more fun to watch than just watching a video on the People's Choice by itself. Also the video length seems about right, not too short or too long. My only request would be I would be interested, after the top 100 is finished, to see a list of all the games that appeared in all four of these top 100 lists. The games that managed to make four-way crossovers between all the lists would definitely be ones to consider as having a really broad appeal and wide enough distribution that lots of people have played it and it's probably also still not too hard to get.

It has been 3-4 years. Just like Splendor, Mysterium hasn't been killed no matter how much DT want to believe otherwise. I don't like the one vs many nature of Deception and that you have to constantly be lying. I like Mysterium so much more and it comes out so much more often in my game group (i.e. once every 1-2 weeks vs once every 5-6 months) so I know I'm not the only one who thinks that.

Sam, I’m loving RAIDS. The designer has clarified some rules that Monsters, Visit & Raid tiles always remain on the board until the last player has passed them or they are defeated/depleted. Plays much better that way.

I actually agree with Sam on the whole miniatures vs. board games debate. If it has a board, it's a board game. I think free movement and manual distance measurement - as well as user created terrain - are the defining characteristics of a "miniatures" game (though even the term "miniatures" game is confusing - I mean, is War of the Ring a miniatures game?). If I were a miniatures gamer I'd be disappointed if someone described Fleet Captains to me as a miniatures game, for example.

If you are moving to predefined areas (grids or areas such as zombicide), than it is a board game with or without miniatures. If you have to measure, than probably a miniature game. Mythic battles is no different from Duel of Ages outside of having miniatures, and it is exactly the same as Zombicide.

I’m going to keep saying this. Mysterium and Deception are two completely different games. Deception is all about trying to figure out who the bad guy is, meanwhile the bad guy is accusing someone else of being the bad guy. There’s no band guy in Mysterium, Often, there is very little arguing because everyone has their own decision to make. Deception is all about arguing. I think comparing the two games as closly as you do could very well give someone who hasn’t played one the wrong expectations

Don't let these guys bully you about Duel of Ages, Tom! It is my group's favorite game by far. And don't worry about liking a game that is long and complex. Complexity and game length are not virtues OR vices. They are characteristics that help people determine whether a game will appeal to them but they are not characteristics that add to or take away from a game's *quality*
