Was? He still hits like a truck and is a 50 goal scorer until he starts declining there’s no was. But your dead on with the him being a unique player. When you think of one of the top 3 goal scorer’s in NHL history you don’t think of a guy who is 6’3” 238lbs and solid as a rock yet quick and hits as hard as one of his one timers from his office.

Oveckin hit’s just as hard as one of his one timers from his office. I remember in his early years Don Cherry always saying this kid has great skill but will never last 10 years the way he throws his body around yet 17 seasons 749 goals and 2908 hits later. He’s still playing at an Allstar level. Truly a once in a lifetime type of player.
