alexandra galici I get it she may not be a mary sue by definition but she is an insert yourself here character; the main reason I say that is because the author literally made this up from a dream she had about herself and a vampire. Also if you actually look at the author she's damn near identical to Bella. The whole character is bland and gets what she wants because the author wanted to live out her dreams as Bella.

alexandra galici totally understand that I think I just know to much of the background to see it as that myself but I totally understand where you're coming from. I just connect her to that because I knew a lot of girls in my school who literally wanted to be her and would still argue to this day that she can do no wrong. I do understand how you could form your opinion and I think if it was handled by a different writer it could have actually been an interesting story about a selfish teenager who could manipulate boys and thought the world revolved around her. Unfortunately like I said I feel like I just know to much background about the author and her motives to see her as anything but a self insert.

To be fair, Princess Peach has become a playable character in Super Mario 3D World. See, the thing about Princess Peach that pisses me off the most is the the fact that those games featuring her exists. Super Mario RPG and Super Paper Mario too. Uh, Mr. Critic...have you ever seen Cartoon Network's _Teen Titans_ (2003-2006) and/or _Young Justice_ (2010-2013)? I think you'll find that, in both those shows, Robin is a much more likable, relatable, and intelligent character. Actually, it was due to watching _Teen Titans_ back in middle school that I really got into comic books, and today Robin/Nightwing (Dick Grayson) stands as one of my three most favorite DC characters (the other two being the Batman and Deathstroke -- all three tied for first). Not to say that Robin doesn't get..."kidnapped" so to speak in _Teen Titans,_ but that is...far more...*intricate* of a situation than you might think. In any case, I highly recommend both shows if you haven't seen them already. (I do not, however, recommend _Teen Titans GO!_ (2013-present). That show is infinitely less plot-driven and captivating than its predecessor...and it's not nearly as well made in the art department, which is saying something, because I initially didn't enjoy the art style of _Teen Titans.)_

When this list first came out a friend told me he thought Tintin should have been on it. I disagreed and still do because, although he did get kidnapped a lot, Tintin rarely had to rely on someone else to rescue him. You can argue Snowy saved him a lot but he more got the ball rolling by freeing Tintin from his binds then Tintin carried the rest of the escape plan on his own. Plus Tintin is a good role model: he's intelligent, polite, loyal and always determined to do the right thing

Yeah. The Galactic Senate was not a noble and honest governing body. Pretty much all of the Galactic Senate was hopelessly corrupt and faction riddled long before Chancellor Vallorum was voted out in Episode 1. Even before the Confederacy of Independent Systems came into existence, the Galactic Senate was full of sychophants and crooks. One of the other senators would have given him the vote anyway. But even then it would have been mostly symbolic. We already can see Palpatine essentially already controlled the entire Republic even before he got his executive powers.

Watching tge number 1 segment made me... oddly happy for some reason, mainly because she isn't Peach. Peach actually had magical abilities one time and used those to defeat Bowser and save the Mario Bros in a game called Super Princess Peach and she didn't get kidnapped by Bowser in 3d World where Bowser kidnapped the 7 fairies instead and Peach was Super desperate to save them. She also had a hot-headed like personality in Mario Strikers 1 and Charged and she's my favourite Mario character for some of those moments and traits and to be honest, I really want Super Princess Peach to be ported to the Nintendo Switch so I can experience a underrated gem of a DS game for myself.🥰💗

When a capable character like April O'Neil is kidnapped a lot, you could argue that it's not that she's an easy target, but that her relationship with the turtles makes her a more frequent target. If you are in more dangerous situations bad things are statistically more likely to happen to you. This is opposed to characters whose actual stupidity actively gets them in trouble like Willy from Indiana Jones.

Olive Oyl should always be one of the most daring damsels in distress. Whenever she gets captured by Bluto, only one spinach eating hero always has to save her. And that hero is Popeye. I couldn't even believe how Olive keeps on shouting out "Help, Popeye! Save me, Popeye!" During every cartoon, Olive Oyl keeps on getting into trouble and gets rescued from Bluto. What else can you say but "HELP ME, POPEYE!"

Well, Kayley may be a damsel in distress. But she doesn't keep on saying "I'm going to be the world's greatest knight". But she only said knight one time in the film, it's in the scene where she asks her mother she can go after Excalibur. Speaking of doing something, she does do more action moments then saving Garrett. During Ruber's song, she tried to whack him with a mace (although she failed at it), she gets the sword from the Rock Ogre's grip, she stops Ruber from killing Arthur by knocking him out of the window and she and Garrett moves away from the stone together by tricking Ruber to send the sword back into it. Oh, and uh, also Bladebeak didn't save her, he just helped cut her free, she saved herself.

Kayley may not have been a great female character, but at least she is more tolerable than Thumbelina. That idiot is nothing but a pain in the neck and there are many good reasons why Thumbelina is a straightfoward damsel in distress compared to Kayley: She's nothing but a submissive, weak and dumb crybaby who doesn't stand for herself throughout the whole movie. She is easily manipulated by the villains. She always cries and whines over her predicaments, even the slightest ones, like when the Beetle called her ugly. She always says "it's impossible". Despite being a teenager, she acts like a baby rather than a girl her age. She lets the other animals take advantage of her without her consent. Her relationship with Cornelius is rushed and poorly developed to the point she wants to marry him, despite meeting him one single night. Despite being a newborn who got lost in the field, she abandons her mother for a man she just met. She doesn't learn any kind of lesson after all the experiences she went through.

Another good contender for this list would have been Ann Darrow, specifically the original version played by Fay Wray from King Kong (1933). Throughout the movie, all she was was a damsel in distress, getting kidnapped by Kong twice and by Native Americans and screaming constantly screaming that it really gets annoying after 7 or 8 times. It also doesn't help that her being a damsel in distress is literally her character. She shows no other personality in the film outside of being the girl King Kong had a crush on her and kidnapped several times. I am glad they improved her in the 2005 remake by Peter Jackson where they actually gave her more personality and she actually could stand up to Kong instead of constantly screaming.

And as for Harry Potter, he is constantly rescued by either Hermione or some teachers like Dumbledure or Lupin, specially in films like The Prisoner of Azkaban, The Order of the Phoenix and The Deathly Hallows

I’m very surprised Nostalgia Critic didn’t put Wallace from Wallace and Gromit on the Top 11 Dumbasses in Distress. Here are reasons: 1) Wallace does absolutely NOTHING to help Gromit out in whatever situation they’re in, 2) when his inventions go haywire, he DOESN’T even try to make an effort to stop the machine and solely relies on and gets Gromit to do all the work to stop the machine for him rather than doing it himself such as not unplugging the machine when it goes crazy, 3) when it comes to villains like Feathers McGraw and Piella, he’s too trustworthy with them to the point where he’s super gullible and stupid that he can’t put the pieces together that they’re trying to kill him, 4) Speaking of Piella Bakewell, he constantly falls for her lies when she framed Gromit for biting her even though Gromit would never do anything like that to anyone even though he has no mouth and 5) he’s pretty much fucking useless in the final battles with both Feathers McGraw and Piella except when it comes to building inventions.

Lois & Clark showed a much more balanced version of her independence and needing saving. The writing never went out of the way to make her intentionally need help every episode, but rather it was her insatiable need to put her life at risk to be the best and bad luck. There were episodes that she didn't always need saving, too. Edit: just rewatched, completely forgot who was on the list and somehow instantly thought of Bella when he said "there's someone actually worse than Peach."
