If you're only flying ships the size of the Cutlass Black on up, I'd _strongly_ recommend you grab an Anvil Arrow with ingame money for about a million and go dogfighting. It's _so_ agile.

The Buccaneer is indeed a light fighter but it's upgunned with medium fighter weapons while inheriting the speed and light armour of a light fighter as a tradeoff.

I mostly agree with your recommendations. - The cool thing is, for many 'roles' there's a handful of ships to choose from and ppl will derive different preferences based on their flying and operational styles and that promotes healthy discourse like in the other comments here :) - [e.g.: I agree with Gladius recommendation, but I'm finding the Hawk suits my flying and fighting style in that class ... probably because I like using the Sentinel, rofl] Inevitably, as the game moves forwards, no doubt you will update/replace this video - So, a couple of suggestions for next time: 1. Starter ship - This video doesn't mention beds being largely irrelevant right now ... probably because you've already said so in more than one of your previous videos and in some of your responses to other comments here - I thought it would be worth you mentioning that (again) in this video, as it is likely to be one of the first videos a new SC player is going to see from your channel going forwards 2. Multicrew ships - specifically, the Retaliator and the Mole: - Where applicable, you might point out where a multicrew ship recommendation works good for single pilot or whether multicrew is preferable - With the Retaliator - if just the one player, it changes your approach to bounties, since pilot has no guns to directly control (which is why many ppl use the Eclipse, even though the 'Tallie is objectively better), whereas, its an absolute beast if you have a couple of gunners with you - With the Mole - its a bit awkward to use as a lone pilot (certainly "do-able", though) and you'll end up having to fit out one of its 3 mining lasers as you would a Prospector for quantanium mining - whereas (when it isn't completely broken by 3.17.2 patch) if you've got 1-3 ppl with you, you can mine really efficiently

Thank you for being one of the few to recognize how amazing the Bucc is. Ppl poo poo it just cuz it loses to the Gladius (like every fighter does...) but it is amazing for VHRTs and large scale org v org fights where you are fighting a variety of ships as it can punch up very nicely with all that firepower and then escape with one of the best accelerations and top speeds in the whole game.

It's all about pilot skill, It's not the ship. I have taken many gladius's down with the bucc. People keep looking for the meta god ship in the game. Let me tell you there is not one. Each have good points and bad. CIG has said there will never be a meta god ship! If they did, they would only sell 1 type of ship, now would they not? Would not be good for their bottom line.

@@RecklessFables it has 2 size 1 shields, so it isnt THAT weak, but it has low hull HP. Just make sure to keep an eye on your shields and dont stay when they go down. The ship is very good for retreating to recover shields. Also, utilize that size 4 with some ballistics. The AD4B is amazing on the Bucc. I also put ballistics on the size 1's and that frees up a bunch of capacitor for the size 3 laser repeaters

99% agree with you :) For Cargo runner I prefer the Carterpillar, easy to land, easy to enter in an hangar and.... easy to get you out quickly. But nothing to say about the best transport ship is the Hercule ! Something is fun when you get time to prepare it ... it's fill the carterpillar with a couple of small cyclones AA and open the hangar door and sent a ton of missile at your target :)

Why is the Aquila better than the Constellation Andromeda? The Andromeda has an additional top weapons turret, which is the better turret to have if you're only going to have one but it still keeps its bottom turret and the Andromeda has also has a larger missile loadout. The only advantage the Aquila has is the cockpit glass.

I like the Taurus best, bit longer and better looking. Same weapons as all Constellation The bottom turret being a tractor beam, perfectly positioned to load the ramp. 174 scu cargo + bigger elevator. Instead of snub it has a shielded cargo compartment, that cant be scanned. ( Working as we speak).

I bought the MSR at the Crusader event last month and I do everything with it. Want to go mining with a Roc or Roc DS? Check. Want to start off some cargo runs? Check. Want to travel as fast as possible for longer distances (Upgrade QT to XL1)? Check. Want to pick up refined Quantanium after mining? Check. Do you like a Freight ship with some nice interior? Check. Want future proof (data mining) and a party gag (hidden cargo area)? Check. Want to play chess in Star Citizen? Check. Want a medium sized ship with good hull HP? Check.

I was recently flying a Bucc fitted with the spinal mount and it seems it can equal the Hornet for DPS but is so much easier to maneuver and keep on target. So going to give the Bucc some seat time this patch. All good ships in that list.

My list would be different but that's probably true for most people. We all have preferences. I personally think the best small ship in the game is the Reliant Tana for too many reasons to count. I know that at the moment it is buggy and has issues, but it won't always be that way. Before the ship had the issues it has now it was amazing. It is classified as a light fighter but it's really not. Anyhow if I go off on the Reliant, I can talk forever. As for the Starter ship, I think the Aegis Avenger Titan is the best. Currently the C2 is the undisputed king of cargo. No 2 ways about that. That will change in the future. I hope to one day see my Hull D now that the Hull A is in the game. Mole holds the most mineables if you don't mind constantly going from the pilot chair to the Mining chair and back. It's a small thing but it can and does drive people crazy. If your solo just get the Prospector. Less hassle quicker respawn if something happens. As far as the best Fighters go It really just depends on what your using them for. PvE or PvP. However I agree that if your new or just starting out the Gladius is the best pick. It will safely teach you all the basics that you can apply to other ships. It's a great learning platform. The medium and heavy fighter field in my opinion don't have enough variety to really talk about so I'm not going to bother with that. Too many good ones for me to choose a best Light cargo. I have had and traded many. I don't like the MSR though. For bombers you only have 2 choices, Eclipse or Tali. Pick the one you like the look of best then put in the seat time to learn how to fly it. With passion comes greatness. It's very hard to choose the best-looking ship in the game for me. If there is 1 thing CIG knows how to do it design great looking ships. I love everything in my hanger. It's too hard to pick cause every ship has it's own charm. It would be easier to name off ships I don't like lol. Anyhow great vid. Keep up the good work.

I'm genuinely curious, why did you pick the Constellation Aquila as the best multi-use ship? I just knew you'd pick the Taurus seeing how it's literally a Cutless-Black on steroids "tractor beam included" and 174 scu of cargo space. While the Aquila has a better scanning station, I'd argue the Taurus being the cheapest and the highest cargo variant of the Connie's gives it some serious D-swing no?

Well for one - that snub fighter is the best fighter in the game. Secondly, it is better at hauling, but at this point the money making potential with this ship will mostly lay in bounty hunting etc. The profit margin is too low to try to make money with 176 scus

Actually, herald is not the fastest ship, razor lx is faster. But what's more important is that herald is terrible at handling or breaking, not to mention the cramped interior and no data mining currently in the game. Which makes it one of the worst ships in the game currently.

Yeah, I think the Aquila is probably the worst of the Connie's to recommend ha. It's purpose is exploration, so you don't really get much from it atm. The Phoenix has a snub fighter and a cargo bay for vehicles (all Connies do), and it's pretty. I'd recommend the Andromeda over the Aquila right now too.

@@SolarWindsRider It does have a better cockpit, but let's be honest, they are all terrible in general. It's not like one is amazing and the others are bad... the Aquila is just slightly less bad. The Aquila just has nothing else to it otherwise. Phoenix has the extra looks and fancy areas, the Andromeda is a gunship for multi-crew gameplay, and the Taurus has the smuggling compartment. Aquila will be cool once scanning is more of a thing than it is, and they will all benefit from a re-work to get them up to Scorpius standards... it's just not the best choice of them right now is my point.

You know after quite a few hrs in both, just my opinion here. I tend to use my cutlass a lot more. Little things like the longer landing gear being nice on rough terrain, the great ammount of space inside, and the vision from the pilot seat. Win me over as opposed to having an extra shield. I like the look of the freelancer better but the ease of use on the cutty wins for me. They are both great machines for sure.

Mole: Requires you to switch seats to mine, requires friends (who you then split the profit with) to mine faster than the Prospector. 2 Prospectors > 1 Mole for two players and costs less anyway.

@@GrumpyEyeGaming it is better on paper. till you get them in the verse. The Buccaneer has horrible jerk profiles, is surprisingly sloppy compared to the Hornet and is less capable than either the Hornet and Banu Defender.

The Hornet feels sluggish compared to the Bucc. I have a lot of seat time in the Hornet as it is my go-to for PVE bounties. Just tried the Bucc recently and it feels really good. The Defender is good too, I take it if I expect to both fight and collect loot, it takes a beating with the S2 shield (although S2 shields have been badly crippled this patch).

Just get a Constellation Taurus, the best ship for solo or small crew, it can do all pve missions and other game loops like trading very successfully, only pvp can get difficult (except if u put 4x gimbled C788 canons on it and just one shot wannabe Arrow pro pilots) You get the same armament as the Andromeda but with a tractor beam, everything except for the useless S1 missiles and the even more useless snub in the butt...but you pay waaay less and get a generous cargo bay instead of the snub buttplug the Andromeda has, all other connie variants are not worth it though. And yes...they are beautyfull, not as fancy as Origin but also not a homeless shelter like Drake. A close second is still the Avenger/ Penguin, but meh looks like a 1990's shuttle and everybody has one, the MFDs look meh and the dashboard/cockpit looks soooo dated, even worse than Drake stuff. The Retaliator is fun and pretty in my opinion, but as solo it is only worth using to clap the Idris in the Arlington mission...or snipe PO landing pads for 3x longer than the other bomber can ...

@@GrumpyEyeGaming I want to agree with you but because of the bug where u keep any dmg u store the Snub becomes useless after awhile. Unless u turn on its shield it has a tendency to get dmg'd during fights if u're attacked from behind. So it might lose a wing. If you don't realise and store the ship like that you will never get that wing back. Also if the snub is destroyed and somehow the ship is store/claimed w/o it (eg a 30k), u also will never get the snub back until a char reset. I've had this happen to me every patch since 3.14 when I started playing.

@@CymBan yeah, it was really easy to kill an Andromeda last patch by hitting the snup with C788s, since it is offline when stored it usually exploded really fast, taking out the entire ship, dunno if it still works :D The most fun thing to do in a connie, is to load an Ursa rover, go to Hurson, wait above the hangar doors, when one opens drop the Ursa on somebody by opening the loading bay, tilt the ship and accelerate XD

your thoughts on the sentinal are kinda.. idk.. its much better with a s5 on the nose whether it be a laser cannon to slap alpha damage or a AD5B which is stronger than your s4 attrtion unless you like to gimble i suppose... i use a harbinger alot with laser repeaters and an ad5b and i feel its much better. on that note in the current state of the game the harbinger is probably better with 3 s5 torpedos to delete targets rather than an emp that barely works

Not going to rant, but want to share my thoughts. I had the Taurus in game, but honestly felt it was too good (+ the interior of the connies are just too old and ugly at this point), and I really wanted the Corsair, so I melted my Taurus and used the credits to upgrade an LTI Mule, so now I have the Aquila as a loaner. From my experience with both the ships + watching reviews of the Andromeda and Phoenix, I honestly think the Taurus is the best. The Andromeda is better in combat, but all the Connies are pretty decent in combat and I would say that the Andromeda's advantage doesnt make that much of a difference. Especially if you are flying solo. The Aquila will probably have an advantage while exploring, but we dont know how much that will matter as of now. The same goes for the Phoenix. We dont know what kind of advantages it will have in the future besides being a luxury ship. The Taurus does not have the snub fighter, but does that really matter besides it being cool? It doesnt have the bottom gunner turret, but atleast the one it has is at the top and not the bottom. And it also has a tractor beam turret which will be useful with the Cargo Refactor. And to top it all off it has a whopping 174 SCU cargo space, compared to the other models only having 96 SCU. The cargo elevator is also longer and can fit up to three Rovers if you'd like. And in addition it also has a shielded cargo room for illegal cargo. It gotta be the best choice as a multipurpose ship out of all the Constellation models ??

His choice is weird. The Andromeda has two working weapons turrets vs the one on the Aquila, and more missiles than the Aquila. The weapons turret the Aquila keeps is also the worst of teh two, the bottom one.The only thing the Aquila has over the Andromeda is the rounded glass cockpit.

Well the aquilla has better strutts, therefore - better 😂 Idk man, whatever the deemer can do - the connie can also do it, and there's more to it than the deemer. The hammerhead is nice, but the deemer is better :) and idk, it's not really a multipurpose ship :) Btw khartu is great in the hands of a good pilot. But if the other guy is better - khartu dies even to an argo cargo pretty much

size 5 repeaters have half the velocity of all the other repeaters. Therefore your PIP will be untrue, and you will miss with both s2 and s5 weapons more than if the PIP was accurate.

As starter Ship i would say the Nomad is way better, it can carry a small ground miner, has 3 small shields and same Firepower as Gladius.

I don't think it makes sense to recommend the Aquila over the Andromeda, Andromeda is just an Aquila with more missiles and an extra turret. I guess there's the small trade-off that it's 77m/s slower in atmosphere (911 vs. 988), but that's no reason to say no to that firepower. I don't think the scanning turret is gonna be very good either. Also I'd say the Taurus is better than the Aquila too.

S4. The S5 is more damage but has very few shots per capacitor charge. The S4 lines up better for use with the S2 in both time to recharge and velocity.

The main advantage of the S5 really comes about if you're using Canons for PVE or bigger ships. The S5 Laser Canon does 70% more damage than the S5 Laser Repeater

If you're using repeaters like I am, the s5 repeaters have lower velocity, therefore you will miss all of your shots, because the pip won't be true. Also, you get more rounds.

I find that I don't use beds extremely often. I feel like the Pisces doesn't get outgrown as thoroughly as the Aurora, Mustang, and Avenger Titan once the hangar starts to get flushed out. It's still my choice for solo bunker missions as it has a large rear opening and is small enough to park right by the bunker door. My starter pack picks would be Pisces, Cutty Black, and Arrow.

this video is mind boggling so many of these options are crazy. or based entirely on future promises. the C8x is a TERRIBLE choice given the various starter packages. dont get me wrong I think its a fun little ship to do box missions in. but if it were my only ship that would be pretty frustrating. if you want combat the mustang is better all starter ships will be decently frustrating at cargo so might as well ignore that if you want a bed .. and cargo... and better combat then the avenger titan is EASILY EASILY the best choice. mind boggling to advice someone getting into the game to only have a C8X I own a carrack but its not really useful. CAN be alright at cargo. it CAN be alright with friends, but solo its totally defenseless, most of its gameplay loops dont exist. its hangar is frustrating. if it were just a tiny bit bigger it would be so much more fun. DONT get me wrong I think it is a cool ship. but myself and my friends almost NEVER take it out. the hurricane is absolutely brilliant if you have a friend in that turret. the redeemer is absolutely brilliant if you have 2 friends willing to jump in turrets. the connie Aquila? not sure if that is a joke? but even lets say you DID want a connie ... basically any of the others are better. for a mining ship the Mole is effective sure.. but given you cant mine and fly at the same time the gameplay loop of that ship if you don't have friends is pretty punishing. great fun though with friends its all opinions obviously but ... wowz the fact that the redeemer is not on someones best ship list. ... have you flown a redeemer with even just 1 turret occupied? its a absolute BEAST

I would even argue that the C8x makes the mule pretty worthless cause any decent pilot would just land the C8x right beside where the boxes are and toss them in the back. I like the C8X its my go to shuttle to pick people up from places. its pretty cool. buts its not the best starter. 2. I mean if you have a crew of people the Carrack is fun. Im just saying so is a HH or a redeemer 3. Ive used the sentinel a bunch. if we are talking solo ships it wins. if we are talking with a friend in that turret it clearly not better 4. the mole being punishing is the point where if you don't line up perfectly with your target rock you have to get out of the seat, go up, move the ship, go back down, get in the turret. IF you could slave that front turret to the pilot so you didnt need to swap seats... BOOM mole would be OP 5. your right the redeemer is broken right now... broken cause it slaughters everything. I feel 90% of the time me and my friends are in it the fight is downright unfair considering how much damage it can dish out

Star lifter is such a cop out on ship design. Looks like crap and the fact they did it three times... FFS. CIG stop selling concept ships, finish the ones we already have sitting there and fix the early ships with a polish gold standard pass. So many crap ships like Valkyrie, a military drop ship that cant even fit a military vehicle. Freelancer with its outdated graduate designed skin, looks out dated, has four beds? WTF we need 4 beds on a small ship like Freelancer? Reclaimer very cool looking, shame its utterly useless.
