The 10th is quite obvious, the 9th is a bit less obvious and number 1 is an utter surprise, which matches this videos rythm just perfectly fine. Double negation is hard tho, don't take it personal

I think BMW should take the BMW lettering from their latest logo and use the design introduced in year 1963 otherwise. That would result in flat logo with high contrast and modern lettering. @Tideroo7 ай бұрын
Honestly, I kinda disagree. Much like the 30 thousand people in the video who googled for "KN car brand", everytime I see one IRL I'm like "What the hell is that thing ?", I pause for a few seconds before realizing what I'm seeing "Oh yeah right, it's the weird new kia logo - hella stupid idea". It may be modern and sleek but its readability is hella awful. The same goes with every "stylish" font for a lot of car model names (no matter the brand tbh), unless you take 10 seconds to think of what's in front of your eyes you just have no idea what model the car is supposed to be. The same applies with Dacia who went from a recognizable logo (sadly for them, a synonym of "cheap cars") to something new and modern that looks really nice, but then again, nobody knows what it's supposed to be. It just looks like the middle of two chains attached together. Whereas Skoda, Saab/Scania and Volvo managed to refresh their logo fairly well (Audi too but they could have honestly tried something more than just pure white). I don't know if I'm just hating mostly everything new I see, but as a french guy I also find both the Peugeot and Renault logo REALLY awful. The 1998-2002 peugeot logo ( 19:10 ) looks marvelous, just like the 1992-2004 renault logo (17:53) albeit being kinda outdated. They should have tried to modernize these two instead of trying nonsensical stuff. The current Peugeot lineup isn't "sporty" by any mean, and Renault is just trying to pretend they're going full electric with such a logo when it isn't even the case yet, despite releasing "modernized" variants of old cars for the wrong reasons. (For example, the new R5 : People loved the old one because it was small and affordable, while the new one is comparable to any regular 20/25k+€ compact car. Wtf Renault ? You're banking on nostalgia more than anything else, that's a dumb move) I really like the new Citroen logo however ! I have no idea how they're gonna implement this oval shape without making it looking weird on their next car models, but it looks really nice.

I never cared much for the old style, I always thought it looked old. The rounded edges and lack of points makes the logo appear more youthful and simplified which is probably what they were going for.

I know a lot of comments say they hate the KIA redesign, but I think it is the best one in this list when you consider their brand image and design changes they are undertaking from a reliable but boring asian car company, to a sleek, cool, sporty car company. The old logo was so boring, the new one is sharp and different - in my opinion, in a good way.

As someone who used to work for a print company with Fortune 100 clientele, I can tell you that they would absolutely obsess over small details like the gradient in a shaded or 3D-type logo. Some companies would even send a marketing rep to our print facility to physically sign off on pre-production samples and then monitor our QC during the print run. So to me it's not surprising to see them go to flatter, more monotone logos that are easier and cheaper to reproduce ("Here's our logo line art, use Pantone 294 for this part and 185 for that part, and send us our finished marketing pamphlets and a bill when you're done.") I bet it won't be long though before trends start to swing back the other way as companies move to make their logos "stand out" more from their competitors' flat logos.

@Dom Hennequin. Thank you for your work on this YT video. You may already know this. Apparently the blue background on the “old” VW logo is a colour that appears on the flag/banner/emblem of the state of Lower Saxony in Germany. The parent factory at Wolfsburg is in this region. (A German business contact told me this). And the blue and white “quarters” on the BMW logo are supposed to represent an aircraft propeller. Apparently, BMW started out building engines for aircraft. So thatvpart of the logo continues that part of the company history. Stay safe and well.

Great video. You speak my mind on pretty much all of them. I find it ironical that so many companies turn to the past to tackle the challenge of the electric revolution. In contrast to Tesla's self-confident identity, all these retro logos shout: "I'm so scared of the future! 😨I have no clue what to do now, I want to go back to the good old days!". It's not even just the logos - the cars themselves are retro (e.g. Renault 5, Renault 4, Renault Twingo revivals). imo, radical logo changes are a sign of brand weakness because a really iconic logo cannot be changed (e.g. VW, Mercedes, Audi).

to be honest I really do like the Škoda redesign. The issue I see with it and what has been communicated by dealers is the fact that they had several redesigns in rapid succession now to the point where you have 2-2.5 generations of cars on the road now with vastly different branding (rare: green winged arrow, common: fully chrome winged arrow, slightly fewer: just the word Škoda on the tailgate.) as well as marketing material (flyers, brochures etc) that had become out of date basically the day it was ordered. But I still really like the new design. Yes the green is different but - despite me never not liking the old one - much more pleasant. And the new Wordmark is just ace. more modern, but still respecting their heritage as well as origin. Also, in regards to VW: This is basicaly the Version that was installed on the cars in the past, like the original beetle or bus. So it is a blast to the past in some regards not gonna lie, I like the new Peugeot. much more dynamic and gets rid of the Peugeot owner image we all know and Top Gear had visualized. The problem I have is, that the image they try to sell now is too Cupra like. But Cupras literally look like Seats again... These three are a mess for me. I can differentiate them but the marketing design language similarity between Peugeot and Cupra, followed by the car design language similarities between Seat and Cupra don't make any of them standing out for me. not a massive fan of the Kia logo though, but neither am I of their cars.... so... Regardless, I think Kia kind of looked at Sony's Vaio line. But Vaio did it better. There was the motivation. VA were a wave representing analog technology and IO were the digital part so the logo described the technology's trip from "old fashioned" analog to new and modern digital.... Kia looks like someone's signature, a few identical squiggle up and down.

The skoda chrome wing contrasting with the black background was my favourite logo. Skoda imo can’t pull off the letters on a tailgate look. I agree with your opinion on the Skoda badge. Especially when you consider the current state of EVs. Now, I don't know how EVs are doing over in the UK and Europe, but here in the US, EVs aren't doing too hot. It all simply comes down to the lack of infrastructure and the fact that almost 9 times out of 10 these charging stations hardly function the way they're supposed to. Those are the two big problems currently, but there are other ones as well. But I don't want to delve too far into that rabbit hole. xD
