number 10 TS950SDX is still one of the best radios ever made i have one :) In the UK in 1992 the ts950sdx cost 3700 pounds a lot of money in them days.

Yaesu FT990 one of the best radios surely? Very easy to use , performance I'd great. But many good radios, much is on personal choice.

Do you (or anyone here) know of a good am/fm/uhf/swr transceiver, emergency radio type? It would be nice to communicate with relatives coast to coast. If there is one with a dynamo that would be great.

I think what would have been helpful is if you posted some datasheet material on these radios so we could compare them against each other and see how technology has marched on. While there were some great pics in here, what I found useful out of this video was the model year the radio came out, not much else. This list really doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason to it other than the fact that many of these rigs were our dream rigs. I'd recommend spending some time to do some research and compare datasheets to find out how they stack up against each other.

I'm not sure how you are evaluating your rigs to end up with this list. For me it is all about how they peform in terms of Third-Order Dynamic Range Narrow Spaced (2Khz) or evntually RMDR....

I've always thought for a cheap skate like me the Yaesu 857d was the ticket. There are much better audio features in the big rigs ..............well hell, there's a lot of nice stuff like notch filters you can adjust on the screen in front of you.....etc. etc. Damn right there's some great rigs.

My first HF Vhf UHF was the Yaesu 857d. Lot's of goodies not there but it works and does so well especially on field day. While it's fun this is what we'd better be thinking of, working in the field because the future is as uncertain now as it ever has been.

You forgot the Ten-Tec Omni D, and the kenwood TS-530. Those two have a much better receiver.

I would like to know on what criteria and weighted data you make your choice to decide that TS-990S was for example better than IC-7851 while we know that this later shows the best overall figures. great video.... and what does one talk about on ham radios ...can you say a recipe? or talk sports?...most videos they just say there name call location and what radio they have..rather boring really ...i am getting the radio disease also..lol just got my second scanner a small little Uniden BC75XLT. so far everyone sounds so offishall when they talk on it and that's sorta backwards as too why i want it. i want too relax and have fun not sound like a robot..so can you talk just normally on it. ??

The TS-870s has a very bad production run. Be sure to not get one in that bad serial number run.

Ten-Tec Omni 7,...?????? Owned and used one for a week, looked cheap, felt cheap and did not hold a candle to myIcom 756 Pro, Come to think about it I liked my old Kenwood 830 more. And now that Ten-Tec is gone, good luckwith any support.

Tell you the truth with changing some of my filters around my IC-775DSP is better then all of these radio's on here except the IC-7851.. My transmit and receive is unreal. I don't know if I'll give away my filter setup,, then again I did a little bit already.hihi..

Disappointing video. You haven't told us who or how this "Top 15" was created. Just your opinion? Based on what? Price? Weight? Knob size? Nothing in the "video" or in the description explains how this list was decided so I can only assume those are your favourites based on what you have bought or used and nothing more. The best radio in the world is rather useless in the hands of an unskilled operator during bad band conditions. The worst radio in the world, with a decent antenna, is marvelous in the hands of a skilled operator...even during bad band conditions.

Each HAM has his own list,me included so based on what is not important.I like how IZ0KBA made this video.I had the TS990 (valeu for money) and now the Icom IC-7851 (overpriced but i am in love ;-) Nice girls IZ0KBA , keep the good work) but i like the IC-7851 more.
