Hi Mary, I wanted to know if there is a place where I can purchase, chocolate chips without any bioengineered ingredients? Also how much does it cost. I started to notice lately that most of the food has disclaimers on the label, it state "contains bioengineered ingredients " including Nestle chocolate chips morsels.

Hey Mary! The statement on the oats of "no glyphosphates" is important. Organic doesn't actually mean it is totally free of them. As you may know, Roundup is used not only in early growth, but after growth and before harvest to have it all dry up at the same time to make harvests easier. SO, the USDA allows an organic label if the roundup isn't used in growth, but doesn't consider harvesting "growth", and allows it to be used in harvesting. I recently learned this and just wanted to scream.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful kitchen info, both food and equipment. I’m in the process of becoming whole food plant based, so even though I will not be making some of the actual recipes, such as bone broth, you still have such an abundance of recipes that I love and look forward to making. I love the idea of making medicinal recipes, baking my own breads, using foods without additives, and in general feeding my family as healthfully as I can. Again thank you for sharing such useful information and helping all of us to live as healthfully as possible. God’s blessings and keep up such good work! Louise J

Vitamix sold me when I found out you can make custard in them. I’ve tried many times to make one on the stovetop but inevitably get distracted and stop stirring and then end up with scrambled eggs. It’s nice to just be able to throw all the ingredients in the blender for 6-10 minutes and have it be perfectly smooth and cooked to the proper temperature. Love the video. 😊

That rice is an excellent buy! A word on dried beans, I stored some with oxygen absorbers from 2012 and when I went to cook them in 2021 , the crock pot could not do the job. After all day cooking, they were still a good bit hard, not edible. I decided to try cooking them in the Instant Pot and it actually softened the beans and they were edible and delicous. I have since read that happened because dried beans are not a forever stored item. Just be aware to rotate your dried beans.

When you soak them, for one pound of beans soak in 8 1/2 cups purified water with 3Tablespoons kosher salt and 1 3/4 teaspoons baking soda. Rinse well after soaking, then cook in purified water. Hard water also contributes to difficult to cook beans. This works for very stubborn or old beans. Cook the normal way. The flavor is delicious, skins are tender and creamy interior. MAGIC!

I love USA Pan bakeware. Awesome quality. Every now and again I find a piece in a thrift store and I snatch them up. Walmart sells he Joie silicone bags for $5.50/3 pcs. They’ve worked great. I like that the packs are all one size. Large and medium. The small ones are pretty useless in any brand for me so just being able to choose one size or another is nice.

Regarding the kitchen items, I’ve been able to save a lot of money buying returned items off of Amazon. There’s a version of those wire shelves in the “Amazon Basics” brand and I was able to buy 2 for about $60-70 each because someone had returned them to Amazon for dinged up packaging. The shelves themselves were in perfect condition. I also got an Instant Pot Duo Plus that way for about $70. Under the normal price it sometimes says “Save with Used” and you can browse through the stock of the Amazon warehouse there. I always check that now when I’m going to make a larger purchase, I’m happy to save substantially for a dented box

@@jayceewedmak9524 it will give details like “used - like new. Product will come in original packaging; packaging will be damaged.” Or “used - good. Minor cosmetic defect to item, will come in original packaging” 😁 I’ve bought some cosmetic defect stuff and it’s usually just a small scratch or sometimes a scuff that I can even wipe off myself. The only one I personally won’t risk is when it says there are pieces or screws/assembly bits missing. But even if you order one of the used items, it shouldn’t prevent you from returning it. So if you order “like new” with damaged packaging and the actual product is damaged you should be able to return the item.

It is awesome that you are educating on plant self defense chemicals. All plants contain anti-nutrients and the seeds of those plants contain concentrated amounts because they need that for the new plant as it sprouts and grows. To properly prepare rice to cut down on arsenic and anti-nutrients, soak the rice in water with about 1/4 cup of raw ACV with the mother for 24 hours or so. I rinse the rice also, before and after speaking, until it runs pretty clear. I also just learned that it should be cooked in 6 to 10 times the water as rice, so it boils out more arsenic and then rinse it when done.

Your tea pot is so adorable! I have the one from Costco and I absolutely love it! I’ve purchased organic herbs from Mountain Rose and I’ve made my own tea blends, so this tea pot is wonderful! I bought my daughter a Vitamix for Christmas last year when they were on sale. I’ve had mine for about 12 years and love it. She loves hers too, and the kids love the smoothies she makes! I bought some of those silicone bags at Aldi’s that were a bit less expensive, but they were all the sandwich size. Those USA made pans are the best! I bought a set of those too, lol! I have the bread loaf pans too! I have found that they are the best made pans out there. I love buying the peeled garlic, onions and mushrooms for freeze drying. Sweet Berry Farms opened this weekend in Marble Falls. I plan on heading up there soon to pick strawberries for freeze drying and making jam. If you’ve never been, you should go. The tulips should be ready soon. Ruta Maya is my favorite too. Both the Austin and Cedar Park store have been out of them the last few times I went, but they were finally in stock last week. I had to buy 2 bags just in case. I like to brew my coffee and then freeze dry. So much better than commercial instant coffee! I think I’ve purchased just about everything that you’ve shown on your video (with the exception of a few of the appliances). Now I’m feeling like a mega prepper 😳. I love the Manuka honey and I make sure I always have it, as well as regular honey. My daughter is a nurse and has 4 kids. I introduced her to Manuka and she uses it when the kids are sick.

Yep…I’m transitioning to glass wear. I buy a little at a time. Of course I’m saving some plastic, especially my Brilliance plastic. The air tight snap on works really well….but I’m going for glass.

I got the electric tea kettle from Costco for a Christmas gift, I love and use it daily.

Happy to own some of the wonderful items that you were showing us! The electric tea kettle (for me) is extremely heavy when full of liquid and the tea infuser’s insert, once you boil the water & open pot lid, the steam from the water while finagling the infuser back in the pot (caution). My favorite thing about the vita mix is that it’ll cook your food, whether making fresh tomato soup or whatever -it will cook your recipe in the blender

Good morning Mary ❤I just had the pleasure of meeting you through your video with Homesteading Family. I thought you were delightful so I sought you out and subscribed. I'm looking forward to learning lots of valuable information from you! It is funny that you are talking about small appliances. My husband and I took a trip to the beach last year and our accommodations had a kitchenette with a hot plate and a toaster oven. I loved it! I am not in the process of throwing my stove/oven out and putting in more counter in its place with shelves underneath to store all my can't live without small appliance like my slow cooker, instapot, etc. My husband purchased one of those table top ovens for me at Costco (it can cook a 20 pound turkey and its a 12 in 1. It even makes popcorn! And I purchased the same 2 burner hot plate I used at the beach. It works fabulously. The best part is I have the same features as a stove/oven only this combo was only about $180 before taxes. and when I am not using the hotplate it is put away not taking up my counterspace.

Great video. I always love your Costco shopping trips. I agree that having paper plates/cups/plastic ware is a good idea. But, I did want to suggest that you can wash and wipe plates and cups with a vinegar/water dilution of 1:6 ratio in a spray bottle. This is good for camping too. Just be sure that the item you are spraying with the vinegar solution is not reactive to the acid in the vinegar.

Hopefully by the time I get to Costco the stackable storage bind are still available. That's a great idea, as well as, portioning out flour , as well as, sugar into 1 or 2lb bags and storing in vacuum sealed bags. Great to have available for my unprepared family members.

Hi Mary! GREAT video and you looked wonderful and sound was perfect! I belong to Costco and was able to get the tuna on sale but there was a limit of 2….so I made sure to stop in every few days to get my qty of 2! It’s interesting how you have so many different brands of foods and more organic varieties than here in SE PA. I have learned so much for you and am great full. God Bless to you and your family.

Hi Mary, I enjoyed this even though we don't shop at Costco because I always learn something from you! I have been going round and round thinking about sprouting and soaking oats because we eat homemade granola or granola bars every morning. When you talked about the sprouted oats at Costco I decided I needed to research some more so I found your "never sprout grains again" video and Ureka! I'm not going to worry about it anymore! I've been a little worried about the heavy metal in dark chocolate issue lately because I love a little dark chocolate in my morning granola. Well, if phytic acid helps remove heavy metals then maybe I'm covered?!? 🤔Have a blessed week Mary!

Thanks for the video Mary! I could hear you perfectly fine. Not sure why others had an issue. I stock some all purpose flour. Froze it for 3 days minimum and then vacuum sealed the bags and put in a sealed food bucket. I prefer to not store wheat berries. I barely use flour as it is because I'm low carb. But I'm thinking of possibly bartering with people that may have something I need. Harder to barter if most people don't have a grain grinder.

Mary, thank you for another wonderful video. I just wanted to let you & your viewers know that I found dry pinto beans and black beans recently at ALDI. They’re both very good. I’ve been pressure canning them (after a long 12 hour soak and draining them, and par cooking them with fresh water) using the hot pack method.
