Castlevania and Metroid games are not metroidvania! They are the original ones from witch the style was created. Don’t use them on your list.

Wdym? Starting from SoTN, Castlevania Already became a Metroidvania game, for Metroid if I'm not wrong it's already become a Metroidvania game since Metroid that released on nes ( maybe not but still Castlevania is Metroidvania game, I'm talking about SoTN and the game that released after SoTN )

@@YTSMOKY Metroidvania = Metroid (from the Metroid games franchise) + "vania" (from Castlevania franchise). So the genre was created as a mix from these 2 franchises. There's no "metroidvania" on castlevania or metroid games.

The genre should simply be called what it is: "EXPLORATION PLATFORMER". Someone decided it was cool and hip to fuse Metroid with Castlevania and apply that term to the exploration platformer genre as a whole. So yes, it's freaking ridiculous, but that's how it is.

I will never agree with SotN being the best MetroidVania out there for the simple fact that the game lacks total balance. There are too many overpowered items available that completely make the game a joke : Crissaegrim, Ring of Varda, Duplicator come to mind. You can farm money with patience early on and buy the Diamond plate to make the first castle trivial. I understand it was a greatg game back in 1997, but it hasn't aged as well for me.
